adnan
UB40 were a real reggae band back in the 80's and their huge success in the UK was a shock, even to them. Almost as if they were bored with reggae, they turned into an adult contemporary band using reggae as a base. "Cover Up" was released in the UK in 2001, but didn't get a US release, and this album is one helluva return to form for the band, they followed it up with two great albums, "Homegrown" & "Who You Fightin' For?", but "Cover Up" is still the standout record. The political and emotional reggae grit existent in their 80's work was back, but mingling peacefully with mellow adult contemporary pop arrangements. "Walk on Me Land" is the best of this bunch. It's a political statement like the band hasn't made in more than a decade, and is a peaceful reggae song with the best beat they've come up with in a while, but as well it is a peaceful adult contemporary piece. A calm riff, throbbing bass, a few outbursts of chillin' sax... It's perfection. And the message isn't to be ignored.Tell me something how come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursFor you to use as you see fitSo me and mine are forced to quitand watch you devastating itand tell me it belongs to youYou have the rights and I am wrongYou call the tune I sing your songand where I live I don't belongYou tell me it belongs to youTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yours(saxophone solo)Tell me somethingHow come you walk on me land so How come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursYou have the rights and I am wrongYou call the tune I sing your songand where I live I won't belongYou tell me it belongs to youYou get the riches I have noneI do your work you have the funI breathe your air you block my sunand tell me it belongs to youTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yoursTell me somethingHow come you walk on me land soHow come you walk on me land soand tell me that it's yours

adnan
lawrence: Their songs DO NOT all sound the same. As far as this song goes it has a repetitive chorus, how many rock songs have you heard with a repititive chorus?
