Manchester & Thoughts on Axl

Just got back from Manchester and I have to say, WOW! The set-list was brilliant, the stage, the pyro, the lot, and to top it all Izzy made yet another appearance. Most of all though, the performances were flawless, You Could Be Mine and Better being my personal favourites. The only gripe I have is the solos. Robin's were very boring and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry during Beautiful. All in all though a memorable experience despite the obvious wait and the heat.

The main point I want to make though is that it finally hit home to me how wrong some forum members have been about Axl over the last month or so. The Sweden and Newcastle incidents made many question how long the tour would last and saw people berating Axl before waiting to see his reactions. Well I have to say his reactions have been spot on and he's proved that finally he IS in it for the long-haul. Just compare 2006 with 2002. Axl looks happy on stage, he's joking with the band, interacting with the crowd, looking better, singing perfectly, and showing all the moves which made him so big in the first place. This is in great contrast with 2002 when he looked like he was on stage simply because he HAD to be, not because he WANTED to be. There is a marked difference and I'm confident that come November we may get what we finally want, though there is of course no guarantee!

In general, I don't think anyone can complain with how things are going, this is the longest tour since 91-93 and it shows no signs of coming to an end. I'd just like to finish by saying what a great band this is turning out to be. Again, where the chemistry was none existent in 2002, it's certainly there now. The sight of them all rocking out together during the heavy part of Better was great to see. It finally feels and looks like a band rather than just a load of individulals thrown together on a stage. Also witness them taking a bow at the end of the gig...

I have to agree once again... and don't forget the british flag during patience :) It was great to feel that Axl was enjoying himself and appreciating us being there by interacting and thanking us 4 or 5 times during the show. Axl's reputation could make you think that he doesn't give a shit and just goes on plays some songs sometimes n buggers off but that is the most ignorant view anyone can take especially since this tour has kicked off.... must be the roast lamb dinners :P

Agree about Patience, also forgot KOHD. The singalong was awesome, probably the best version they've ever done of the song.

there are a lot of songs I miss being played and it's well hard to say which I liked the most... for crowd interaction it's Jungle and Easy, just cos I was in the middle at the front n it was a great experience. For performance I liked nightrain, paradise city, and Better was played really well. November rain was a beautiful song played with pure emotion. Think my fav song was Out T Get Me tho. Howver all the above was just what I expected lol
