Does that effects board have a USB port on it? If so, you probably won't even need a MIDI/USB converter.

OK. What model number is the pedal? I'm sure it is MIDI-enabled to allow for custom editing. Does the pedal have a built-in drum machine? If you're not going to be connecting it to a computer to custom edit, or if your pedal doesn't have a drum machine, then I wouldn't recommend a MIDI/USB converter. The MIDI port only trasmits information, and not actual sound. So you should be fine without one.

If you do need a MIDI converter, try getting an audio/midi interface. Something like this: CLICK

That way, you won't need a soundcard, and you'll be able to get both audio and midi into your computer.

the pedal is the digitech rp2000 it is discontinued now, but I picked it up cheap from ebay.

It does have a built in drum-machine
