I don't think we've heard the best off of Chinese D yet,

Something tells me Axl is not going to release an album that has already revealed 80% of it's tracks to the world via demo leaks and live performances.

I really do think he is performing songs that may not even make it to the final album...

I know it's impossible for us to conceptualize songs that we've never heard, but what about these tracks:

1. The General

2. This I Love

3. Closing in on You

4. Atlas Shrugged

5. Prostitute

6. Seven

And that's only a fraction of the three albums worth of material he supposedly has. What I really want to see on Chinese D is a piano song like November Rain (I believe This I Love is that song) and an accustic song along the lines of Patience.

My guess is that while Axl will produce a new sound with songs like Better and Twat, it will be songs that sound more like NOvember Rain and Don't Cry that once again catapult him to the top. So that being said, only time will tell. No release the fucking thing you Dolce & Gabanna coward before I fly to the UK and kick your bitchy little ass, punk!

WHY?!? we already got The Blues and Catcher In The Rye...

The last thing we need is another ballad.

So you don't think The Blues is the piano song like November Rain? Thats what I thought from the time I heard it.

I agree with you though, it's gonna be the slower, more emotional songs that take the band to the top of the ladder again. Better is great, but a little too hard core for alot of people.

Good post Kaneda. Never thought i'd say that. ;)

Wont CD have 13 tracks or so?

Yes.

I also beleive that we haven't heard the best of CD, I have high hopes for This I Love, Prostitute and Seven.

I don't think The Blues, SW, Rhiad, CD and Madagascar (atleast) will be on CD, maybe on future albums..

Nothing wrong with hardcore.

GNR needs to get back to the top of the ROCK ladder.

Not the Celine Dion approved power ballad ladder.

As much as I love those piano ballads I have to agree. I would love to hear a few tunes on the album that are in the same form as Perfect Crime, It's So Easy etc. Some fast paced rockers are what I love best.

So you think The Blues is a Celline Dion-type song?

I think it is better than any of the new songs, apart from I.R.S., and it's way better than November Rain, for instance.

Just want to make it clear that Better is by far my favorite of the new songs.

I'm not saying it should be an album of ballads or anything. I'm just saying that for GNR to be back to where they were in the past, there will have to be songs which reel in the main-stream music fans.

I would fuckin love another AFD, but it aint gonna happen......

.....just being realistic. ;)

I think that Kaneda's completely right on this one.... I really hope they change the title "Atlas Shrugged" though before the record hits shops... don't get annoyed or anything and yes I KNOW that it might not even be a title on the album, it's all just speculation however... it is a really nonsensical title and I have to say i can't see a song entitled Atlas Shrugged becoming big. If GnR prove me wrong i'll have no problems eating humble pie over this. Just my two pence

Well, Axl said that the songs they played in 2002 will not be on the album or even as Single B-sides ;) And for some reason I don't think any other song than Citr will make to the album (because Fortus said so and they haven't played it live)..

Very good post Kaneda. I agree with you on most points except that I do believe The Blues, Better, and Chinese Democracy will be on the album.

The Blues better than November Rain??You're fuckin' crazy.

It's a good ballad, but not a masterpiece like November Rain.

I think The Blues is at least in the same category with November Rain, although I wouldn't call it better.

I think we'll get what we hear. And to be honest I'd be very pleased if we would! The problem is people expect to much. They expect things that top UYI big time. Things that will make rock dominate the charts again. Things that will shift musical culture. I say snap back to reality. What we hear is what we get and objectively I think it's pretty darn good!

The thing people forget is, that it's impossible to predict how the market and the culture will shift. GNR worked for years on the UYI albums, a lot of blood, sweat, and tears were poured onto it to make it the biggest greatest thing music had seen in the 90s. Basically trying to shape the future of music. But not long after UYI, Nirvana came out with Nevermind, an album recorded with a fraction of the time, effort, and musicianship when compared to UYI, and it took off like rocket. And IT, not UYI, shaped the future of rock and popular music for the next decade or so. So much so, that by 1994 when In Utero came out, Kurt's boys were the establishment, and GNR and their UYI sound were seen as dated and out of touch.

I agree with Mr. Username. Man, the leaked songs are good stuff. i'm sure theres a couple aces in Axl's sleeve as well. Good theory that CD might be all new stuff but I wouldn't count on it.

People are expecting too much and when CD hits with maybe 40-50 percent of it already heard well I can see alot of disappointed gunners. I for one won't be cause i love the new songs and can't wait to hear them finalized.

I'll probably stay away (or at least try) from this forum so I don't have to hear the fuckin Kaneda's of the forum bitching after CD is out.

The Blues, IMO, is a masterpiece. Much more than November Rain.

For example, there is no orchestra (which is not needed). There may not be a kick ass Slash solo, but I love the shred towards the end. And I prefer much more the lyrics of The Blues to the cheesy November Rain ones.

It's not that I don't like November Rain, but I don't really think its lyrics are the best. The demo version's ones were way cooler, especially with that "again and again and again" section, which added a lot of feeling to the song. Its absence in the final version took something away from the song.
