Faith No More

From the 90s I would say they were the most original band. Out of just about anyone they really were the best. From The Real Thing through Angel Dust to King For A Day and onto Album of the Year they were both heavy and inventive and funny and their live shows were always entertaining. They virtually invented Nu Metal but they never get artcles in magazines and no-one wants them to get back together, it's like they just vanished. What's the deal? I think they were the best band ever. They started out a bit comedy but ended up the scariest proposition in rock. With them it wasnt all tired cliches about cocaine etc. They really reinvented rock.

They really were one the greatest bands ever and one of the most influential.

Maybe the reason why nobody talks about them is the reason they didn't have so much hit-songs or something that could be remembered. To me, they are one of my favourites and Angel Dust is in top 5 of the greatest albums of all time. In the recent Metal Hammer there was good article about them so not everyone has forgotten them. I surely will remember them and Mike Patton is god. rock3

It's just one of those crappy things. I guess that they got overshadowed by so many ''better'' bands..Better meaning the more commercially marketable bands. See, cause an important part of a band's popularity comes from it's image, charisma and accessibility. A band can have the greatest music in the world but if they're not charismatic or they dont have the right image you'll never hear about em.

1. Nirvana were the first to break into the mainstream.

2. Pearl Jam were more radio-ready.

3. Alice In Chains were more angsty and appealing to teenagers.

4. Soundgarden were more classic-sounding.

Leaving room for...no one else.

Stone Temple Pilots & The Red Hot Chili Peppers are better than all those bands put together.

Who said anything about "better"?

Epic = brilliant

War Pigs by FNM = one of the best covers I have ever heard

Their latter albums were pretty good but never came close to Epic. Mike Patton is not interesed in conventional or comercial music. You have to admire him for not selling out. He is also the star of a new movie out on dvd with Karen Black called Firecracker. Have not seen it yet but want to.

FNM was a GREAT band, imo. I would LOVE to see them get back together, but i don't think it'll happen. The only band i've ever really seen give Faith No More credit for being a major influence is Mushroomhead (another great band, imo).

King for day is a grower. Angel Dust is also. I think it's true FNM attitude really didn't help them become big. They didn't even seem to want to. I think Real Thing was big before Nirvana and Pearl Jam etc. I always thought bands like Deftones and even Slipknot were heavily influenced by FNM. The album I was most surprised by was Album of the Year I thought it would definitely suck but it turned out to be another masterpiece for a new era.

fav tracks?

The Morning After - the dark side of TRT

Caffeine - I'm warning you...

Gentle Art of Making Enemies - FNM always loved a song about the mafia.

Naked In Front Of The Computer - Oh yes.

Also Patton is the funniest guy ever not to be a stand up comedian.

How's about a bad trip? Oh, come on, live a little.
