tbaugerud
Guys,is my band entitled to play any cover song we'd like in concert? Here in Norway, we don't have to ask anyone. The composer gets his royalities off our performance anyway. Is that an international law?Or do these things vary from country to country?Curious.. vicious
from what i know the performer of the songs live keeps the moneybut if its recorded and sold then royalties are to paid to the original writerso Axl doesn't need to pay the original gnr for playing the old songs live but if he chooses to release a live cd/dvd or reuse an old song on CD then he must pay royalties

twistedthoughts
To who? Sanctuary? They own the rights to the entire back catalouge. My understanding is that in a situation like this, the royalties would be split around 50/50 between the record company (Sanctuary) and the writers (old GNR).
