swlabr Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Anything by The Eagles. I always thought there were 5 people in the eagles. i watched the farewell australian gig, and i see that other dude to the far right playing all those solos, i thought he was part of the band! ..tricking me.led zeppelin has many memorable solos. cnt think of any now. ScottRose Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I'm not gonna rank them, but I'll always love Ritchie Blackmores solo in Highway Star. The fast part in particular is amazing, and it just tops an already unforgetabble song. Quote

adnan Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 (edited) brian may dosen't even make the list?layla and other assorted love songs?aerosmith?george harrison?OPINION, ever heard of it?Personally, I would put a couple of Aerosmith songs and "Cocaine" in my top 10, but not 5. The 70's were GREAT for music anyway, so it's hard to pick a top 5, and frankly, I did a quick and useless job of it.EDIT: Changed the concept, just list some good solos, no numbering etc. Edited August 7, 2006 by adnan Quote
The Third Man Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 In my eyes Ritchie Blackmore's Child In Time is the greatest guitar solo of all time, so for me it wins here too Quote
Guest knerken Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Stairway by far.Lots of Brian May's stuff is also kick-ass! Bicycle Race and Don't Stop Me Now are great! Quote
sweetness Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Hotel California has the best guitar solo of the 70s Quote
MrsBrownstone Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 What about EVH on "Runnin' with the Devil" ? Quote

He was trying to convince Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmit to do the same. Something about Don Henley and Glenn Frey not giving the others equal say in how things went or equal pay. That sucks because Don Felder is an awesome guitarist. Quote

Yeah, he's a great guitarist.edit: nevermind. i was talking about the guy playing in the farewell concert dvd. i guess he's the payed musician. The guy at the far right. you cant see him well but thats the best pic i could get. moreblack Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 There's a lot of great ones from that timeSkynyrd had some kick ass solos, so did the Allmans and Blackfoot. There was also the fusion records from Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, Al Di Meola.Zeppelin, Queen, The Eagles, Rush, Deep Purple, Sabbath, The Pink Floyd Sound, Priest, Scorpions, UFO...All in all I'd say there was some kick ass solos in the 70s, but I'm not the one to arrange them in order or anything, they're amazing tho.
