Streetchild
It is with deep sorrow that we anounce to you that our dear friend and close collaborator Jeff Poe passed away on Saturday morning from complications resulting from a massive stroke he suffered on June 23rd. of this year. His wife Karna was at his side when he passed. We would like to extend our deepest condolences to his loving wife Karna, his mother Gloria, his two daughters, son in law, grandson as well as the rest of the Poe family. To the world he was one of the most prolific, successful and finest Rock N' Roll recording engineers and mixers. Jeff combined experience with cutting edge technical expertise and was the first engineer to win theGrammy for Record Of The Year by mixing Santana's groundbreaking 1999 Album Release (with Arista Records) "Supernatural" on Pro-Tools which has gone Diamond and sold 24 million copies worldwide!Having apprenticed and worked relentlessly with the Entertainment Industry's premiere hit-makers such as Ron Nevison, Phil Ramon, Mike Clink, Babyface to name but a few, he sharpened his skills the old fashioned way… by making hits and changing the sound of music as we know it today.A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Jeff made the Deans List and was an exceptionally gifted arranger and composer. Many records that you have in your collection were tailored by him... they sound the way they do in NO SMALL part because of him. He worked with a HUGE array of artists in his career spanning more than 25 years. From Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Guns N' Roses and Madonna to Kiss, Nelly Furtado, Santana, John Cougar Mellencamp, Brian Mcnight, Ricky Martin and so many more, that the list could go on for MANY pages. The copies of the records he has produced, engineered and mixed have sold well over 120'000,000 units worldwide. You wouldn't have known any of this by meeting him... actually many who knew him don't really know how much he really accomplished professionally, because his biggest success was that of being a friend. He was one of the finest talents we had the pleasure of working with.We have never put out a record without him.He was much more than our artistic partner. Elan called him her "muse".He was one of the greatest friends that we could have ever hoped to have.He was and forever will be a member of our family. He was one of the first to believe in us.PIRATE, we love and miss you so very much.Elan, Jan Carlo and the entire DeFan family as well as everyone at Abbywho, Inc. and Academia de Musica Fermatta.I just got this newsletter from Elan's fansite.Jeff Poe also worked with Guns N' Roses on Appetite for Destruction and GNR Lies.
