shootingstar
This competition has been long before the split. There has always been conflicts between fans about who the most important member is and so on..Now we only focus on Axl and pre members and compare them them because we almost don´t know shit about the current members impact in upcoming album CD. So lets discuss what we think and know about the current band.I have a strong feeling that Richard is Axls Right hand when it comes to writing songs. Like Izzy was.We have an indipendent Robin that wrote Better. That doesnt mean he´s a great songwriter and we don´t know how much more material he have done or had impact in. But it give us an insight in how this band could work. They are all free to give and Axl would be stupid if he wouldn´t let them. And he´s not.But Axl has probably produced some raw material long before this current linup was created. So prio one HAS AT FIRST been to finish this material. But in time when Axls visions has been realised the space for the "new" members creativity has grown. Last few years this space has been at it´s maximum. That can explain the long delayed album. It´s first been Axls period and lately the BANDS period. Now Axl works as a "simple" band member and nothing more. He´s equal with the others. Richard working on songs while Axl is fucking around What do you think?
Mango
I have a strong feeling that Richard is Axls Right hand when it comes to writing songs. Like Izzy was. What do you think?I have even strongest feeling that MotherGoose is Axl's right hand with writing and recording, especially recording stuff. And i'm dead serious with this. But i shall agree with the rest of your thoughts.M. Edited August 23, 2006 by Mango
Axls_Disillusion
I think Robin is probably the most vital member to this band outside of Axl.
shootingstar
It´s hard to say who´s the most vital member.. Maby the person with most impact hasn´t the best potential to be the most vital. It´s also about the right circumstances for each member. And it´s about now and then.BBF didn´t had the time to do some major impact in what they are/have created. Maby he would have been the most vital and creative member. But I personally don´t think so. But you never know...
f**k_your_enemy
Ron Thal - Great Buckethead replacement, Very under rated imo too... He seriously is the closest we can get to Bucket... I wish people would accept that! He is always great to the fans and an all round great guy. I really hope he sticks around!Richard Fortus - Great guitarist... pure energy on stage... puts everything into each note, also very cool to the fans and a down to earth guy. I love the beautiful solo he and Robin do... it shows how talented he is and how he gels with Robin.Robin Finck - Huge stage presence... Great thinker and IMO he is Axl's MVP. Cannot wait to hear what else he has come up with in the studio. Better is awesome! Could watch him on stage all night.. He also loves being in this band and is very dedicated!Tommy Stinson - Dedicated also made me think of this guy. I love his attitude and he sticks up for himself... proving he isn't just a yes man to Axl, but a band memeber who wants to share his views. He took lead on rehearsals and can organise. he's been around and knows how to Rock. very cool guy.Dizzy Reed - Wow I'm so glad he gets to have his piano solo's so the world can hear how amazing this guy is. Beautiful piano work. This guy also knows how to Rock and also loves doing what he does.Brain - Gonna keep this short... The worlds greatest Drummer in my view.... no one can touch him! quadlaser
i don't think the RFs are the best writers. better, IRS, and CD are pretty weak guitar riffs. i bet axl and dizzy will be writing most of the stuff, maybe pitman too.thal is just a monster when it comes to all things music, if another album comes out (after CD), it's going to be one of the best things ever made. W. Axl Kev
I think Robin is a key member in this band. It seems since 2002 he has been working very closely with Axl to re-think the album. When Axl asked him to come play in Guns N' Roses around '97 I think this suggested clearly where Axl was wanting to go direction wise with Guns N' Roses.Robin being an ex-NIN member knows how to write industrial based music. So if you stick Axl Rose and Robin Finck's ability together you get an almost nu-metal sound to Guns N' Roses, which I think is very fresh. It's also clear from the new stuff that Robin knows how to write an emotional solo e.g. The Blues.I also believe Tommy holds a key role in directing the band. He always seems really concentrated on stage ah... well except when he's either smashing or jumping on his bass. When the record comes out I think for a lot of them, the credit will go down as;Rose/Finck/Stinson & Rose/Reed/Finck etc.

I read that somewhere....can't remember direct source (not suckypedia] ... So there is something on that. And Tommy always seemed (to me) as Axl's right hand.... M. D-GenerationX
While I agree with the overall tone of this thread, I don't find it very realistic thus far.We have next to nothing official to go on about this new line-up. No interviews, no real pess releases of any substance - nothing. I'm sorry, but a few e-mails and myspace messages don't cut it for me.I think as time wears on, if this friggin' album ever comes out, a thread like this makes more sense. But as of now, most discussion on the new band, how they fit in, and how does what, is all pretty much pure speculation.
Kaneda
Seriously, I don't get the point of saying how well these musicians work together...we haven't heard anything from the studio yet, and as a live band, this current version is by far the most ho-hum, boring version of GNR to watch. Axl no longer runs around, they divide up all the solos so you never know who's playing what...it's just a chaotic mess up there. GNR never used to be like this. You never had to deconstruct the band and come up with reasons why it worked, it just worked. I think for the past 6 years, all GNR fans have had to convince themselves that something that "isn't" is something that "is"...that we've had to justify over and over again that who we are hearing and who we are seeing is Guns N Roses...This new GNR is a joke until an album is released....it's so comical how long the wait has been and how little has been delivered...And lastly, and most importantly, shouldn't AXL ROSE be focusing on THIS BAND instead of the premembers? By predominantly playing the premembers' music, AXL is in fact showing more support for what came before, and cutting the legs off of those that are now, GNR. People wonder why all we do is compare old to new, it's because that's all Axl gives us. No album, no new music, no new GNR, it's all in the past. bax
I remember a while back someone posted an e-mail that Fortus wrote saying he wouldn't have a lot of his songs on CD becase most were written before he joined. We know of course Robin wrote Better. It would make sense that Dizzy co-wrote the Blues since he plays Axl's piano on it, but it could be an Axl solo song. Catcher I think is an Axl solo song, and Twat and Maddy may be also, although I'm sure Pittman is responsible for the electronic stuff for the most part. CD I would guess is Robin's song. I am fairly familiar with Tommy's writing style since he actually has released some stuff, and none of it really sounds like CD songs to me, but who knows. As far as the band dynamic, I think Axl is close to Tommy because Tommy has been around through all the bs, and the same could be said for Dizzy. Of course this is primarily speculation and I could be completely wrong.
Kaneda
I don't think anyone is truly close to Axl Rose...The man is an introvert and pushes away people that get too close from him. Let's be honest, these guys are in it for the paycheck, not the music. GNR is a business now, and that's why all of the original members left...Axl forced them out. Funny how Axl always makes it sound like it was the music he was protecting, but he literally made everyone sign over their portion of GNR to him, that's insane. So now Axl has been steering the ship for 10 years, and he has released nothing! So funny how it's almost September 2006 and we are still speculating about the new songs and what they will sound like....this is fucking pathetic. Why the fuck are they planning a tour with no album out? Nobody gives a shit about this new GNR until an album drops. You are not going to see sold out shows in the US, you just aren't.

But the major problem is still that there´s no CD. But Why? As I speculated in my topic post, I think it´s delayed because Axl waited with releasing the album so the current members got more time to put their stuff in. That cause even more frustration among the fans, and to calm them down they did/do a tour.
