I recall reading an email in which Fortus told someone how the band was returning to the US in the first week of August and that the website would be updated with news about the album...Well, it's nearly the end of August and all there is is silence. Sure, we're getting dates of the US Tour but what about some word from Axl or the band themselves about what's going on? Even just a confirmation, "Yes, we are playing this date and this date and these dates here" would be nice, and it would be interaction with the fans. Instead, we have to search for these dates ourselves and have like a fucking easter egg hunt to find out any new info. I don't know of any band that doesn't at least give a formal press release when starting a tour. And what about promotion? I'd love to look in a magazine or on an entertainment website and see "GUNS N ROSES- US TOUR 2006- PREPARE TO ENTER THE JUNGLE" or something like that. It'd be fucking awesome, and it'd make me feel like GN'R was really back to business.Even the bare-bones promotion of the '02 tour was better than this eerie silence. Granted, '02 was a complete joke in many ways, and in '02 I was ashamed to call myself a GN'R fan, and Buckethead, despite his talent and the general look of the band made it look like a freakshow. In a lot of ways, '06 has it over '02 and is generally a better year, but at least in '02 there was hype.Then there's the album issue. OK, I know people are going to throw up in my face, "Well, Axl said Fall." Ok, well, Fall is right around the corner boys and girls, and all we have is silence. You'd think that a soon coming release of the first Guns N' Roses album in 13 years would be greeted with lots of fanfare, and would be hyped through the roof. Instead, nothing. I mean, do they expect this album to sell it self simply because? And what about videos, or a single? In this day and age, videos, and hype are what sell an album. Word of mouth helps, but with a release of such an anticipated album, you'd think the band and the label would going crazy whoring themselves and the album. With no promotion, no hype, no nothing,who is going to know about the album? Just the members of these forums. Which gives the album a total sales receipt of maybe 50,000 copies. Even Michael Jackson, "Wacko Jacko" creates more hype before he releases an album. Even the Stones who release an album every few years do this. But GN'R, who hasn't had an album since 1993, expects the world to just pick up where it left off in 1991.Call me a basher, hater or doubter, but really I'm just concerned about the band and the album what with the lack of new info and the general aura of silence surrounding them. I mean, how many of us were awaiting August eagerly, thinking that it was going to be a G'N'R craze that month, and how many of us were sure we would finally learn the album's release date and get a single this month, but, August is on it's way out, and I for one am disappointed. They're just going to let the buzz die down and all the hype among the fans fade away, and it's truly a waste opportunity. It isnt to kepp the fans happy, it to make some fucking money, and the fact all these players are making money off other peoples hard work. Im sorry but gnr is fucking dead this is just a poor excuse of a band that used to be the biggest and most exciting band on the planet, fuck the mystique just drop the album or fuck right off and be a hermit again do us all a fuckin favour.
