Same Old Setlist?

Out Ta Get Me is a permanent fixture, but the title track of the new album (which this tour is supposedly building hype for) is just an 'option'?

What do people make of that?

Its ridiculous.

'Out ta Get Me' sounds ridiculously dated by this point.

Yet, it was one of the most intense moments of the night.

What? I've seen Guns N' Roses twice this year and 'Out Ta Get Me' was a highlight at each show. The band deliver it with such power, I'd be dissapointed if I never saw it. However, I do agree with Dead Flower to a certain extent. More new songs should be in the permanent setlist.

Been going to concerts for 20 years now, and each time there is a new tour in support of an album the ratio is usually about 20% new songs to 80% old. GNR's set list is right on par with 20%. I have no problem with what AXL chooses to play. But if anyone on this board really thinks they are going to play 7-8 new songs in any given concert is nuts. Keep in mind they haven't even released an album.

Can we stop complaining about the set list, it is what is it.

True.

But how come its only "the complainers" that have to take flack?

What about all these people who chastise us and swear up and down "it will be different, just you wait". Shouldn't they at some point be called on the carpet for that when, well, it never is any different?

This is exactly why they need to put the damn album out. The tour is stupid wtihout it.

Only bands whose new shit sucks ass should stick to playing old stuff, like Lynard Skynard. If you still consider yourself a band and not just some novelty act, you should have a little confidence in the new stuff.

When I saw Tool, about half the show was from their new album.

I saw Beck earlier this year and he played almost the whole new album.

I've seen Pearl Jam several times and their set is always packed with new songs.

Queens of the Stone Age played a lot of new stuff when I saw them last year.

These are some of my favorite bands.

I can't believe they're not playing Chinese Democracy. It would probably go over way better with the crowd than the Blues.

And FOR GOD's SAKE, quit playing the same two cover songs at EVERY SINGLE SHOW!!!!

I have to agree about the covers. As much as I love Live and Let Die live, they could do without it. And KOHD is the worst song in the setlist...especially at Download...haha. Their set is awesome, I'm not bashing it totally, I just expected something different on this tour because the band members made hints tha it could happen. Quite frankly, they should step up and admit whether or not Check mate is one of their songs, and if it they should play it live. That song clip hypes me up like the AFD shit did the first time I heard it.

to the people who were there, the people that actually mattered, both shows in vegas were amazing! especially the second night. Nobody was complaining about the setlist.

This is a forum, his opinion matters because he is a fan, not a basher or cupcake. This is a FORUM.

ok you assholes....get it through ur thick fucking skull!!! AXL isnt gonna do Don't Cry.... after shannon hoon died, he said he retired the song.... be glad that Bumblefoot does a solo on it!!! Next.... do u really think that they are gonna play new songs now??? FUCK NO!!! no new songs will be played till about a week before C.D. comes out...and maybe just MAYBE we'll get a single, cause Axl knows that as soon as he does a few songs off it... us fuckers will have it on our comps before he even get to the next city to play another show.... so we arent gonna get new songs!!! sad fact of life...we're just gonna have to deal with it...cause our greed prevents more new songs from being played!

When did he say that Don't Cry was retired because of Shannon Hoon's death? Do you realize West Arkeen was a closer friend of the band than Shannon and they still play West Arkeen songs like "It's so Easy" in every show?

this guy who was there couldn't believe he paid that much money to see the same concert he saw in 2K2.

It was fun at first. About halfway though, I kinda zoned out. Just kept staring at Axl's awesome, bat-shit-crazy eyes and thinking about how much that guy changed over the years. Or maybe how much I changed. It was still a lot of fun to see. But not any more fun than, say, seeing Axl play his old band's songs with any other group of talented backing musicians about whom nobody cares ("Oh look honey, the program says that guy was in Nine Inch Nails! You used to really like them, remember?").

If CD bombs, Vegas might be the perfect place for Axl to stay. Like an Axl Rose musicial variety show featuring special guest stars... SEBASTIAN BACH, IZZY STRADLIN', A GUY WITH PUBES GLUED TO HIS FACE, what ever else all in scrolling letters outside the casino. I'd probably go see that once a week and, you know, just reflect on shit.

I love Axl Rose. I'll see him again next tour too. 2021 will be the year of Guns and Roses!

Well that sucks if you felt that way. I paid 70 bucks for a show to see new gnr and money is so hard to come by right now for me. Fuck. I hope you're not right .... but that setlist... It's one thing to see the original band do the songs they created...but an entirely different band performing someone else's work at that price...I just don't know...I don't even care about any of them besides Axl...strange enough I actually regret not seeing new guns in 2002 with Buckethead. That lineup is far more interesting to me than the current one...but c'est la vie...

I hope they bring the house down and Ron Thal is on his "A" game when I go see them...

No worries there, if you are used to listening to Phil Collins. :fuckyou:

I'm really sorry if I hurt your feelings by expressing concern over "HisRoyalFatness"' post. I don't see why you had to bring poor Phil Collins into this?

His "lyrics" are in your signature, I assumed you were a fan. I don't think you will be disappointed in the

GnR show,in the least. I have been to quite a few this year,as well as previous years.

Yeah I'm a fan of Collin's 80's work. Glad to hear you liked the shows...I don't know what to expect from them outside of some of the 2002 bootlegs I've seen of the new band. HisRoyalFatness is a pretty stand up guy so I was a bit concerned since he didn't seem to really be won over by the concert he went to...

Anyway all I really care about is Axl and Ron Thal being at the top of their game, the rest I can take or leave...

I used to think Axl was the coolest, but after seeing him live off Appetite for so long my interests are drifting. How can I be excited about twenty year old shit?

i agree,its really boring

:sleeper:

So you're yawning while, the lights are out, your at the concert, Robin is Echoing Welcome to the Jungle and you can see flickers of the stage in the flashes of the camera's and Axl shouts "Do you know where the fuck you are" and the place eroups????

Thats what is hard for many GNR fans to get past.

might as well get over it and get used to it.

Last night at the show, some dude behind me yelled, 'fuck yea, he's not slash, but shit he's fucking amazing!!'(on robin).

And robin BY FAR got the biggest applause both nights when Axl introduced the band, aside from maybe Dizzy.

If that's true...it's a bit troubling that the keyboard player of a hard rock band is getting bigger cheers than the lead guitarist...

I'd say it was about even. But considering Dizzy was the only other member most of the people there knew before the concert, I dont see whats so troubling. Robin got a great reaction from the crowd, especially on the second night.

Ouch. People are still talking about Slash, huh?

Guess it's to be expected, considering the setlist.

and actually that was the only time I heard that washed up guitarist whose cock you worship's name mentioned at either show. :shades:

fuck slash. who cares. This is a great band and he is not fucking missed one bit.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed, keep an open mind, don't look for the guitarist that won't be named,

hope that fans do not throw things, and you should have a great time. Been to shows overseas and in USA

and haven't been disapponted yet! and there are cynics everywhere.

Time for real rock n' roll to take the stage again!

Sweet...I hope they bring the roof down. :shades:

You sound upset. :(

Chin up! That's a good boy.

Honestly, Bob, I just find it perplexing that you're so willing to hand out praise to these guys (Finck especially) just because they do good (in your eyes, at least) renditions of other peoples songs.

Demand more from your favourite guitarist, dude. Demand much more.

This is once again unnecessary. I don't recall Dead Flower ever saying "fuck finck" even once on this forum. Yet you feel the need to personally insult Slash every day. What's the deal dude? I'm glad you love Finck but there are people on this forum who have a lot of "issues" with this band. That's to be expected. It's an entirely new lineup. People are not just going to bend over and take it because you tell them to. If Finck is really as great as you think he is, then people will be won over once Axl releases the album.

Without even a released album and a setlist comprised of old songs such comments that are getting you so worked up are totally fair play. They ARE playing someone else's work. Comparisons will come up. Once they play their own stuff...all of the comparisons will go away.

dude all dead flower does is bitch and whine about everything Axl and the band does. He's clearly not happy with anything, so he just comes here to cupcake and whine that his favorite member chose to leave the band and was replaced. Of course people are going to see these shows and gain attachement to the new members.. You guys will need to get used to the fact that the more shows this band plays, the more people they will win over.

your opinion carrys no weight with me, cos i wouldn't go to a gnr concert with finck on guitar

In that case, this place might be better suited for you??

no doubt brother, thats why I have trollwence on ignore. :P how can someone be so closed minded that they will bash something before they even give it a chance and refuse to give it a chance. pay no mind to him.

Are you EVER happy?

Do you EVER feel satisfied?

YOU always need something to bitch and moan even if things are rolling. Why cant you just enjoy what you have? If you don´t want to listen to the old songs then simply don´t fucking go to the gigs and that´s it!

Gee I´m sick of the negativity that invades this forum

And you call yourselves FANS ?
