End of An Era

Now that the ball is "officially" begining to roll, I cant help but have bittersweet feelings. Im not sure what it's gonna feel like when Im finnally holding the album in my hands after waiting so long. Axl is our poet, maestro, and rockstar idol all in one. His words and music mean so much to so many fans. I guess that can justify our unbridled excitement all these years.

I just wanna thank Madison and Admin and the other mods (yes im being sincere) for maintaing such a cool site where we can talk about whats been cooking all these years. This site has some real characters and cool people, yes i even have a soft spot for Kaneda's amusing rants.

Im looking forward to sharing a new and exciting chapter with all you other GNR diehard fans. Im proud to be in your midst.

"I know its only rock n roll. But I like it."

Best, Nick

See all you Chicago fans on Nov. 27th!

Yeah. Even though we are about to get this album that we've waited years for, it is sort of bittersweet. Maybe that makes me a masochist or something. But I look at it like this...even in those dark years when we got no news (2004 might have been the worst), we always had something to look forward to when it came to Guns N' Roses. When this is over we won't have anything to look forward to, only to look back on.

But hey, it makes no sense to keep postponing the stuff you really want to do. Gives you something to look forward to yeah, but nothing to really enjoy.

To be completely honest, I agree with this remark.

However, VR helped me get through 2004 and 2005.

I feel the same way guys. When I was reading the statement I was so excited and in complete shock. But now I feel all these conflicting emotions about it. I'm excited, yet sad all at the same time. I don't know what that means. Therapy, maybe? Not to mention when everything happens, all my friends will come crawling back to GNR and act like they liked them all along when all they did was talk shit and that kind of pisses me off. Oh, look. 600!

do you think once the album is out, mygnr will take a hit. there will be a lot less to gossip and speculate about. I expect a huge drop off of people who regularly check this site.

When the dust settles eventually, yeah. That might be a year away, or it could be five. Who knows? Three albums are possible don't forget, but probably not something we should take for granted. Oh yeah, don't forget there's a reunion to wait for too.

I think itll depend on how well and up-to-date the "new site" is gonna be. If it's run propperly with a regularly updated news section. This site may end up taking a shot.

Don't start breaking out the champagne yet guys...anything can happen in the world of GnR. I think until I have the album in my hands it will continue to be a myth.... :P

The fact that we are in the final stretch is cathartic, we've all waited so long for this moment. I really can't believe it's happening.....the next 3 months are going to be some very exciting times for us.... B)

But isn't all this a good thing?!!!

Do you really want to be checking these boards in 2009 waiting for the release of CD?

And what's wrong with bandwagon fans? I'd rather see the album sell 10 million copies than 10 thousand. To do this, a bandwagon will be needed.

This isn't bittersweet. It's sweet.

Of course ill be beyond thrilled to get my hands on it...its just that once its out, the mystery and secrets that have shrouded it since the albums conception in 98-99 will be gone. Dont get me wrong, the good FAR outway the bad. Its just a personal observation.

good point... for all the speculation and hype, it will be hard to imagine something concrete

Yeah, when the album is out then you can't wildly speculate about anymore it'll just be a factual run down of the lyrics. I've always wonder what Axl meant when he said "You can suck my ass". I think it's an ambiguous statement, does he mean literally or is a metaphor for a whole lifestyle? Hopefully Axl next batch of poetry will keep us intrigued for another decade.

I share the feeling fellow gunners :(

all the myth behind CD and all the speculation and bad jokes around it will be gone.. all those funny threads and just the whole expectation of something great to come at anytime that would slap us in the face..

but it's all good, I think.. we will be changing all that for something concrete and real.. we will come here for different reasons, but there will always be something to discuss.. the CD talk after everyone has it, the reviews, etc will occupy a long part of next year.. and we can sum a DVD to that perhaps??

the only downside is not knowing if this might be the end of the ride for GN'R.. hoepfully not, we can always go back to the reunion threads if anything lol

I'll still use this site, I don't post often, but this has become one of the only two sites I'm always at... the other being myspace, and thats only for my friends, this is because this means something to me, I like having a place where I'm not alone in my being a hardcore GN'R fan
