adnan
"Today!" by the Beach Boys.Yes, Pet Sounds is better, but I don't consider that Rock & Roll. Mostly pop/rock, although there's a rock & roll flavor to some of it."Chuck Berry is on Top" comes close... The Beatles have a couple of contenders. To most I think, Surf isn't really a proper genre, just a term for rock & roll by a beach band.

adnan
What? Excuse me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Beach Boys considered rock & roll by many? And by beach band I meant a band that wrote about beach life etc.

adnan
The Beach Boys are officially considered Rock & Roll to me.I didn't think I would ever have a debate about this... Almost every rock n' roll compilation has a few Beach Boys songs on it.

frankwhite
the stooges, to me, are 3 chord rock n roll, as are the pistols. i mean, THEY didnt invent the label punk, they set out to play rock n roll n thats what they did. hell, they didnt even particularly (or at all) like the label punk rock (although come to think of it, john rotten werent even too into rock n roll by 79).
