Pinned threads in the download sections.

First off, I don't see the need for the forum rules thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=53087 ) To still be pinned, most people know this by now, and with having 7 pinned threads in the AUDIO section alone, it leaves less room for more threads.

Also, the GNR HUB thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=70752 ) could be moved into the main forum, with the split into two sections thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showforum=11 )

And, the Unlimted GNR downloads thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=58290 ), IMO should have all the links edited into the first post, and the rest of the posts removed for now. It's a bunch of 'thanks' and 'reupload' posts. And, the everyshow from '86 to '02 thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=80603 ) could just be merged into the unlimited downloads thread.

The useful topic title thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=33646 ) has no need anymore, since the section was split into AUDIO and VIDEO. And, the 20 Step Guide to YSI ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=37485 ) should have all the posts removed except for the ones showing how to use YSI and be moved into another section, like support or something.

The Rare Material Guide ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=44905 ) isn't really a problem, since most noobs read that n' make a new thread for requests with the info from that thread.

Oh, and in the VIDEO section, the useful topic title thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=59780 ) and the forum rules ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=59773 ) IMO don't need to be there anymore, at least pinned. A, because the download sections has been split, and the forum rules are mostly well known, and the mods (most of the time) do a good job removing posts about official material, except for ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=80512 ) but that popped up yesteday.

Also, the All 01-02 shows ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=69548 ) and the Unlimited downloads ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=61146 ) could be merged into one thread also.

The list of upload sites ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=59781 ), also doesn't need it's own topic, since most people either use YSI, RS, MU, or Sendspace now.

The splits thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=61725 ) could be merged into the first post of the unlimited downloads/all new GNR 01-02 material thread/threads.

All in all, I'm just saying that 7 pinned threads in the AUDIO section, and 6 in the video section, is a bit too many, IMO, since it's takin' away from some of the stuff posted that'll get pushed to the second page do to the lack of space taken up by the pinned threads, instead of the normal threads.

And, perhaps a pinned thread in the VIDEO section for YOUTUBE crap, since it seems to get a lot of quote/unquote 'download threads', but instead is just a link to YOUTUBE. If it's all in one thread, perhaps all the links could be edited into the first post, so people can just click the thread n' see a vast array of direct links to videos.

Hey Alex, thanks very much for taking the time to point all these out. It's appreciated. I think a lot of what you're saying is very valid.

When the forum was split into two, I actually raised a lot of these points with Eric, and he gave me answers for most of them - so i'll answer each point individually from what he gave me:

First off, I don't see the need for the forum rules thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=53087 ) To still be pinned, most people know this by now, and with having 7 pinned threads in the AUDIO section alone, it leaves less room for more threads.

The forum rules thread, IMO needs to stay. Yes, most of our long-time members know the rules - but we constantly get new people signing up to the forum that don't know the rules. I'm still removing official material every few days, so I personally think that the forum rules need to stay.

Also, the GNR HUB thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=70752 ) could be moved into the main forum, with the split into two sections thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showforum=11)

This is actually one that I suggested to Eric when we split the forum in two. He replied saying that people would access the "Audio" and "Video" forums directly from the front page, bypassing the main forum, thus making any informative threads in there (such as this one) redundant.

I think this is a very good suggestion, and i'll work on making this happen over the next few days. If you have any further suggestions as to how the post should be laid out, then please PM me. I'm thinking just a simple organisation by Year, including filesize, description, who uploaded, etc.

Also, if anyone has any free time - feel free to check any of the links in the Unlimited threads and report any dead ones to me before I reshuffle them. :P

The useful topic title thread ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=33646 ) has no need anymore, since the section was split into AUDIO and VIDEO.

Well, it's still nice for people to know that they have to include REQUEST or DOWNLOAD in the thread title. I'll have a look at some options (whether it be to merge it into some sort of Downloads FAQ thread or something like that).

And, the 20 Step Guide to YSI ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=37485 ) should have all the posts removed except for the ones showing how to use YSI and be moved into another section, like support or something.

Ok, I can see what you're saying. I think i'm forming a few ideas at the moment for what can be done with this... it's sort of what you're suggesting, but a few other things too. I'll run it by Eric first before I say anything more on it.

The Rare Material Guide ( http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=44905 ) isn't really a problem, since most noobs read that n' make a new thread for requests with the info from that thread.

You mean it's not really a problem because your friend Dash made it? :P J/K

I completely agree that something needs to be done about Youtube videos. They push decent uploads off the front page when people could really search for them themselves if they were interested in watching them.

The rest of your suggestions, would kinda have similar answers to what i've said above. Basically, I agree with you that 6 or 7 pinned threads are far too many, especially on a forum where we try to avoid to have too many pinned threads (people don't look at them when there's too many anyway).

Once again thankyou for all the helpful suggestions/ideas. I'll get in touch with Eric and we'll come up with a better solution than the countless pinned threads. :)

Don't merge the ssiscools thread to Unlimited Downloads  It's a lot easier to use as it is now.

i have to aggree if you merge my thread not many people will know about it because not everyone looks in the unlimited downloads thread i've noticed.

I'll start on some of the 2006 shows.

Thankyou! And to you guys too, Mango and vicious :D!

Just a quick question - you sure it's ok with those guys to chuck those links in there? Just don't want to be accused of stealing links. :P

GNR-4-Ever is a member here n' has posted the shows here in the past.

I'll check with Damaged Goods n' see what he's got to say.

Question, what about making a post in the thread for opening bands shows? Like, I've got a few shows from the openers of various shows on the UYI tour. I've got a couple Skid Row, some Metallica n' Faith No More from the GNM tour.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the input but as we've said before, the downloads are Guns N' Roses only (or related) and the opening bands for the shows doesn't count as that.

They're related, since they're from the same show...and, I've noticed that most people would like the full shows, not only the GNR show.

Exactly, I've always wanted them. Makes the boot more complete
