Screencaps acting strange

This is probably a really dumb question and I bet people like Ron, Max or 'Voltage are going to snicker at me, but anyway. :tongue2:

I use Gadwin PrintScreen 3.5 to screencap various things, but when I play video files in certain movie players such as Windows Media Player and attempt to screencap an image, the screencap preview shows up perfectly normal, but when I open up those saved images, I see that there's always a big black rectangle where the desired image from the movie file should be. Oddly enough, this doesn't happen in all movie players (I know that because I have a really godawful and grainy one that doesn't do this) nor does it happen when I screencap video files off the internet. Why?

Yeah, that's how it is, but there are ways around it.

If you want to take a screencap of a video, open the video in Windows Media Player and press Control+I to take a screencap. If I'm not mistaken, this doesn't work with .mpeg files.

*EDIT*

I just read an article about BS Player being able to take screen caps. You can download it here: http://www.bsplayer.org/

You have to turn Video acceleration off in some files in Media player to be able to screencap them.

Go Tools ---> Options ---> Performance Tab

Then turn video acceleration all the way back and click OK.

I don't know why you'd use any external programs like "BSPlayer" or "Gadwin" to take screencaps, because Media player and Ctrl+I or Print Screen does the job just fine.

He got there before me. So yeah - turn off video acceleration and you'll be good to go.
