since we're on the subject gwen stefani ripped off the "tick tock" bit in 'what u waitin for' from metallica's 'frantic'

WHAT?

Those are some serious allegations. Hold on I have to listen to the song.

EDIT: Haha ok no.

Frantic sounds nothing like it anyway.. the ticks are totally different. In WYWF its more like "tick tock tick tock".. not "tick tick tick tick tock"..

Also Gwen had a whole theme with clocks, if anything she ripped of Alice in Wonderland- which is what her video for the song was based on. And she has this whole thing where she talks about why she did the record and it was because this clock is ticking in her head cuz she feels like she doesn't have much time left.

Plus I don't think Gwen is a big Metallica fan- but just a guess.

Then again I don't think you were being serious. :tongue2:

Ok well I don't get where you think WYWF is based on Hash Pipe since the only thing it was based on was Gwen's situation of wanting to do a side project since she felt like all of a sudden she was on the clock. Hash Pipe sounds nothing like it anyway.

And I've not hearding what you are referring to but I doubt Don't Speak copies anything. It's about Gwen and Tony breaking up.. she wrote it from the heart and I've never heard anything that sounds like it.

WYWF has the same verse as Hash pipe a trained ear can hear it.

and the Intro of Don't Speak is EXACTLY the same as Breakfast In America just that it is played with a guitar.

im pretty sure gwen pays weezer and Supertramp royalties. listen to both songs a few times than you'll see(if you want to)

Not that this really adds much to it, but Nirvana has lost much credibility with me over the past few days, just a few thigns I've heard. Shame Kurt didnt live longer to drag his reputation through the dirt, he left it for his widow to do I guess.

sure the did covers, but compared to the number of people that covered their songs it's rather insignificant.

no i meant...the fact that i stated that they did covers wasnt to detract from them. they made 10 times other orignal fantastic music n pretty much all their covers were better than the orignals. jus in case u misunderstood my pointing out that they did covers, jus stating it as a fact, not as a good or bad thing.

and the Intro of Don't Speak is EXACTLY the same as Breakfast In America just that it is played with a guitar.

im pretty sure gwen pays weezer and Supertramp royalties. listen to both songs a few times than you'll see(if you want to)

OK I listened to BinA (its actually a cool song), yes the intro sounds a lot like it but I don't think its exactly the same if you look at the sheet music. If it was No Doubt would get sued, esp. since it was their biggest hit.

I still don't hear it in Weezer though. The ONLY thing that might be similar is that they both sing really high at the beginning... but even that I dunno.
