Bromle
I think this is a valid question. Becouse most of the bands are getting boo'd off stage and they are rarely well recived. And it's not like GNR needs someone to warm up the crowed. And I say this becouse of two things1. There is at least an hour from the opening act goes of stage till GNR goes on. So whatever they warmed up, has chilled down at that time.2. Crowed goes nuts when GNR hits the stage anyway. JUNGLE BABY!!!!!!!Another thing is that I could understand it if it where to draw other people to the show. People who went to see the opening act. But seriusly. Who the hell want's to she the shitlist of opening band they have now? It's like 2% goes for the opening act.
Jameslofton29
There has to be something on stage to kill the time until Axl decides to show up. If there were no opening acts, do you think fans would sit in the arena for hours on end waiting?

November_rain
so that people have something to listen to till gnr get thereYep,agree. Also, this is a good chance for some bands to get known.GNR were openers too in their early days. I haven´t heard the current openers but according to the reviews from people they don´t seem to be good.
Nefertiti
so that people have something to listen to till gnr get thereexactly , axl has interesting attitude about starting concerts or canceling concerst... but I think the band needs some time to get ready... BUt it wasn't like that before Edited December 5, 2006 by Nefertiti
wasted
there are very few bands which would please a GNR audience. SG are pretty good idea really.
Bromle
Well if they need time to get ready. Well start to get ready earlier and let the people in about half an hour before the show. (if there was no opening acts there wouldn't be any reason to arrive early, would there???)
Guest Satanisk_Slakt
I didn't hear anyone that boo'd in Stockholm when they was here... Even if we only had 2 shitbands here. No baz here, no, no
Route66
I guess GNR want to put on a bit of a show for their fans. Having as many as 4 warm up acts is interesting though to say the least.I dont mind them coming on late. What real rock bands are predictable these days? God of Thunder
I think it is great that they do have so many openers, with the first one usually being a local band. You get about 5 hours of entertainment for the price of 2...And if you don`t like the openers go have a beer....It is a like a little festival! Colt 1911
bc axl is old now he forgets a lot of shit. Sometimes he forgets to go on stage or even show up. So they give him four hrs or so to remember he has a show to do. That or he just doesnt like to show up on time and wants half the fans to leave early or miss their buss/ride. Appetite 4 Axl
Most big bands have opening gigs. It makes you more excited and "warms you up" before GnR comes on. Not to mention like everyone else said to kill time.Plus I liked the openers I saw (Bach / Papa Roach).
RJ88
Die Mannequin, the opening act in Toronto (among other canadian shows) got a very good response from the crowd. I actually thought they were pretty good

gnfnr2006
Perosnally I am a fan of live music, and though some of the openers have been bad, its kinda nice to get 4 or 5 hours woth of live music for what you pay for a ticket. Who knows, maybe youll discover a new band there.
adnan
they need opening acts but stuff like rolling stones, queen, metallica or red hot chili peppers ! classic rock needs classic rockYeah because they'd choose to open for a band less popular than them. (I think)GN'R needs band that playes that kinda music. And not shit metal and "scream into the micophone til you faint" music.

moreblack
Why an opening act?Because you need someone to start the show on time at 8PM. If it was just Guns, and Guns went on at midnight, it'd be a lot harder to sell a show like that.
