They sold 20 million copies of AFD alone. so if they did 50 shows, that would be 1k less per show at worst case scenario, ummm, that would not kill anything, dork.

by my calcualtion we would add up to three shows and about 50k albums. That is nothing. Not to mention all of the fans who couldnt see them due to lack of tickets who would be able to ge tthem. The downloading motherfuckers being, of course, the Internet fan forums. It would be impossible to download the songs if you're not on the forums - the forums were how they spread. They weren't spread manually via CDs around college campuses - the only people aware of these "new songs" are the Internet users. This is evidenced by the fact that almost every reviewer always notes how "no one else in the audience seemed to know the lyrics to the new songs." Regular fans - the casual fans you're referencing in your post - are not logging onto forums and downloading songs.

Yes, there are a lot of people turning out to shows. Only a fraction of them are die-hard fans of the band. Do you really think every single person who goes to a GN'R show has been a die-hard GN'R fan for the past twenty years? For a lot of people, it's just another concert...

Yeah, with MyGNR and HTGTH combined, there are over 30 million people who have viewed these websites (collectively). Not everyone reads posts. A lot of people read the news items on the front page and never visit the forums.

hey I am glad I got a good thread going, love the band, loved the shows I have seen so far, will I am sure love both shows i will see this week....so a few negative predictors of Axls demise dont mean shit to me. I was just hoping to sway a few on you guys my way so you to can enjoy the band and not be so frustrated. I really dont mind it, just hoping some of you guys would just chill, album or not GNR is the best thing out there, and the negative people are not enjoying it. I am not a hater, quite the contrary.

But when you come to an Internet forum and start telling long-time fans that they have no influence on the band, and then use TOTALLY baseless "facts" to support your theory, you can expect to upset some people.

The movie Blade Runner is a classic and is viewed millions of times per year, but it was the Internet fanbase that began a petition to release a Special Edition DVD - and got their wish. The Internet fans have more strength than you seem to think - because they ARE die-hard fans. The ones on the Internet are the ones who have been religiously following their object of interest. Back in the day there were mailing clubs and conventions; now the Internet is an easier and more efficient way for nerds, geeks an freaks to get their fixes.

Axl himself said that the reason he went on tour was because of us, the "downloading motherfuckers." I'm believing Axl on this one. Sorry.

One impression I get of Axl...and I wouldnt really know... but he seems very sensitive to criticism from anyone...I see Beta as like his mom or something and she is standing up for him in a way we don't think he really needs. I think the sooner the GNR camp sees forums for what they are just fans discussing/bitching about the band they like the sooner they can get on with their lives. There is a clear channel of communication through Madison or whoever that they could use to communicate clearly and avoid any situtions of criticism really. Maybe they prefer other forums but still you know to me they don't really use the options they have very constructively. But who gives a shit, right?
