Lithium
Hair metal was already dead before Nirvana's breakthrough.
krissirge
and yet Bon Jovi,Def Leppard and to a lesser degree Posion,Warrant and Mötley Crüe released succesful albums after Nirvana breaktrough.and weren't AIC the first band to actually recieve some commercial success, not the huge explosion like Nirvana(which happened with Dirt) but Man In A Bod and Sea Of Sorrow were radio and MTV hits
Guest knerken
Neither Cobain, AIC, Pearl Jam or anyone else killed hair metal - it killed itself. I have nothing against hairmetal, but it wasn't meant to last..

It was so bad that an average band like Nirvana could become big...
vicious
if he was "shit and untalented and over rated" how the hell did he virtually create a new genre and is one of the most popular icons?

krissirge
if he was "shit and untalented and over rated" how the hell did he virtually create a new genre and is one of the most popular icons?first of all he didn't create anything, grunge had exicted before Nirvana, they only thing he did was adabt it into something more commercialAnd he remains popular because he turned rockstars into guys-next-door people and had more problems than an average teenager.Plus celebrity suicides instantly turn them into legends. Nefertiti
he's not over rated. there is no such thing as over rated. he had talent and used it to get many fans. most of the haters just wanna be "hardcore" and stand up against what everyone else likes. you can deny it, but 99% of nirvana haters i came across are exactly that!I don't hate him, his music is just not me... When I don't like somethin' it doesn't mean I hate it
Opax
Pearl Jam didnt make more than one video.Huh? Srry, don't wanna start telling you you're wrong without your reason behind saying thatOkay true, but in there early videos they only did one promo clip for Jeremy, Alive and Even Flow were live cuts and Oceans was bogus footage of Eddie Vedder Surfing among other things that was compiled without there knowledge. only recently have they begun to make promo clips again.
