You think you got it all locked up inside

And if you beat 'em enough it'll die

It's like a walk in the park from a cell

And now you're keeping your own kind in hell

And if your Great Wall rocks blame yourself

While they all reach out for your help

Then we're out of time

More attention given to the plight of Falun Gong practitioners. Well done, Axl!

YES i strongly agree the end of CD is amazing.

and the best ever has to be Catcher in the rye

"How a body took the body" is a important bit

"On an ordinary day

Not in an ordinary way

All at once this song I heard

No longer would it play for anybody

Or anyone

That needed comfort from somebody

Needed comfort from someone who cared

To be

Not like you

Unlike me

And then the boy took that away

From me

So that it set the wheels in motion

Haunts our memories

You were the instrument

You were the one

How a body took the body

Gave that boy a gun

Took our innocence

Beyond our stance

Some type of moment

There we got it"

I love this song, and i liston to it ALL THE TIME

and i honestly think the very last line just might be

"All alone IM hurt today "

In other words ..poor Axl..

When all is said and done

We're not the only ones

Who look at life this way

That's what the old folks say

But every time I’d see them

Makes me wish I had a gun

If I thought that I was crazy

Well I guess I'd have more fun

Guess I'd have more fun

---Catcher In the Rye

The whole lyrics to Better and The Blues are amazing, can't pick out just a few lines.

I won't be told anymore

That I've been brought down in this storm

And left so far out from the shore

That I can't find my way back, my way anymore

---Madagascar

Social class and registers,

cocaine in the hall,

all the way from California,

on the way to your next call

to those non-negotiations,

(to simulate a call)

all the bad of learning evils and

your ways around the laws

that keep you locked up sitting pretty,

on a pedestal up there

and now you're sleeping like an angel,

To any man who’d fit in

If there's something I can make of this,

or anything at all,

it'd be the devil hates a loser and

you thought you had it all.

---There Was A Time

Can't wait for Chinese Democracy man!

"So now I wander through my days

Just trying to find my way

Through the feelings that I felt

I saved for you and no one else

And though as long as this road seems

I know it’s called the street of dreams

But that’s not stardust on my feet

It leaves the taste that’s bittersweet

That’s called the blues…"

Yeah that's the part I love too.. The last line is the only thing that's bothered me.. Just can't make it up 100%.

I've read a few different interpretations but none which would be what I've started to hear:

"All alone in the world today"

Am I The only one that thinks alot of the lyrics especially for T.W.A.T are completely wrong?

No sir, I will agree with you, most of them sound wrong to me but then again Im not the best at this...

My fave lyrics from any version of GNR is the closing lines of Oh My God. They will put the fear of god in you. Fear them...

why another topic?

becuase what I said in your topic was an accident, I meant to make a new topic and didn't realise it until I already had made this one so I just deleted my message in yours :S

None of the new songs seem to have amazing lyrics for me.

The Blues' are alright, but nothing spectacular.

god I love the lyrics to the new songs, they are sooo personal and just, so, I don't know... but the Blues is so cool, like "what I thought was beautiful don't live in side of you, anymore..." and "what I thought was beautiful is only memories" god this is so beautiful lyrics

"Feelin' like I've done way more than wrong

Feelin' like I'm living inside of this song

Feelin' like I'm just too tired to care

Feelin' like I done more than my share

Could've been the way that I carried on

Like a broken record for so long"

"What I thought was beautiful,

don't live inside of you, anymore"

^^ I am really feeling those at the moment. But there are too many great lyrics to pick from in my opinion. It changes everyday.

Ooh, well it's on with the show

Like the tides out on the ocean

The waves already set in motion

The only one in the game whose lost is you

I know that I'm a classic case

Watch my disenchanted face

Blame it on the Falun Gong

They've seen the end and you can't hold on now

Forgive them, they tear down my soul

Bless them that they might grow old

Oh, and free them so that they may know

That it's never too late

So now I wonder through my days

And try to find my ways

To the feelings that I've felt

I saved it for you and no one else

And now as long as this road seems

I know it’s called the street of dreams

But that that's not stardust on my feet

It leaves a taste that’s bittersweet

That’s called the blues

All my salvation

All my frustrations

Caught in the lies

If you ignore this war

Somewhere in time

We will meet, I can tell

and all of Better, TWAT and CITR :xmasssanta:

Better has great lyrics, and they are this:

ABHORE??? NO NO NO!!!! I am sick of seeing this!

it is:

If I were you I'd manage to AVOID the situation.......

not abore, abhore or abor lol'

fuck open the ears man, the Axeman commeth

Gunsguy

"If I were you I'd manage to avoid the invitation,

Of promised love that can't keep up with your adoration..."

P.S. Ripped tbh, sorry for the pettyness ;)

I'm pretty sure that the correct lyrics are "Abhore the invitation". It makes perfect sense.

"So bittersweet, this tragedy won't ask for absolution

This melody inside of me still searches for solution

A twist of fate, a change of heart

Kills my infatuation

Of a broken heart

To provide the spark for my determination"

Finck is a genius ,holy shit..the best lyrics of the new songs were written surprisingly by him

err.. as much as i love that you called Robin a genius, he wrote the music, not the lyrics, that was Axl (not that i know for sure, but it makes more sense)

Yeah I mean... Somebody find the interview I was talking about in the other thread. :P

EDIT:

http://www.htgth.com/articles/showarticle.php?articleid=120

In this press release about Oh My God Axl says "All the lyrics were written by myself".

http://www.htgth.com/articles/showarticle.php?articleid=28

Axl: "I write the vocals last, because I wanted to invent the music first and push the music to the level that I had to compete against it. That's kind of tough. It's like you got to go in against these new guys who kicked ass. You finally got the song musically where you wanted to, and then you have to figure out how to go in and kick its ass and be one person competing against this wall of sound.

Why I chose to do it that way is that, you know, I can sit and write poetry 'til hell freezes over, and getting attached to any particular set of words... I felt that I would write to those words in a dated fashion, and we really wouldn't get the best music. "Oh My God" is a perfect example. When we finally got "Oh My God" where it needed to be, then I got the right words to it."

Also in that interview Axl talks about 70 songs that they've been working on etc.... Given the context it really makes me think that the band wrote the music and then Axl wrote the lyrics. At least in a majority of the songs.

axl said he is the sole lyrics writer in the band...in the context that it's hard to be the singer, producer and

sole lyrics writer in a band...so I think i'm pretty sure he wrote all the lyrics to better and it makes sense,

because it sounds like he wrote them so...

For me it has to be "There Was A Time"

the part where Axl goes from a high voice into a haunting low pitch voice

“If I could go back in time to the place in my soul,

there all alone, lonely teardrops ohhhhh are calling you,

but I don’t wanna know it now,

‘cause knowing you it won’t change a damn thing,

But there was a timeeeeeee.”

great stuff.

Spot on.

That part of the song just brings in haunting chills to the already splendid tune that There Was A Time is. That part is fuckin' great...
