vicious
i remember someone on this board (i think it was zint) saidd that he saw a few shows on that tour and metallica were the ones who said "seriously you're the best crowd we've ever had" every night as the post above me says "each to his/her own"
JONEZY
I saw them in September 1992. James Hetfield still had the bandage on his arm/hand, so the guitar player from Metal Church played. It was weird to see Hetfield walking around the stage carrying a mic and no guitar. However, during "Enter Sandman", when the lights came up, he was playing guitar and the crowd went nuts.Guns were great as well, played a full set and Axl didn't leave early.I think both bands were on top of their game for that show. JMO.PS: Body Count opened up, and they were pretty good, no really, I'm serious.
3rd Wheel
Someone I worked with back in the summer went to the show here in New Orleans and said that Mettalica played first and the arena was packed for them...but half-way through GNR's set the crowd was half the size it was for Metallica. It sucked becuase the last time they were supposed to be there was the cancelled World Music Theater show. I was cursed to not see GnR during my high school years, I think. It's a moot question for me, cuz James isn't a very good singer, so I can't envision Metallica being better than GnR live. When I saw them in Anchorage, Metallica was pretty ho hum live.

Pearl Jam were way bigger than nirvana anyway, before kurt killed himself anyway.
