iPod USB problem

I recently had a problem with my iPod whereby it basically stuck on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen that shows when you're connected to iTunes.

I think I'd unplugged it without shutting it down or something.

I'm not sure if this is the problem you're referring to or not.

If it is, basically you need to reset the little bugger by holding down the Menu button and the Select button simultaneously as detailed here:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705

This will DELETE EVERYTHING off your iPod and restore it to its factory settings but it should connect again as normal after that...

It shows this message to me all the time it's connected to my computer. No matter if I'm not connected to iTunes or if its battery is charged  I usually disconnect it when I think it's charged. Apart from that I've had no other problems with my nano

Pressing Menu + Select doesn't delete everything off the iPod. My iPod froze this morning so I pressed Menu + Select and it reset itself, but no data was deleted.

I thought it did. Maybe I just fucked it up somehow! I've not had any problems since.

It does not show in either My Computer or iTunes, it just loads the battery, it doesn't even show "Do not Disconnect" like it always does when I connect it to my PC.

I tried connecting my old iPod Mini, and everything worked fine, so it must be my Nano that there is something wrong with.

I take it resetting it had no effect?

You could try re-installing and running the original software that came with it - with the ipod connected and iTunes off.

I used to have an older style iPod shuffle and it went through a faze of not mounting on the desktop. I re-installed the original software and restored the factory settings and it sprang back to life.
