Kings of Leon - Because of the Times

pain cake

Recommended Posts

Kings of Leon, much like The Strokes did last year with First Impressions of Earth, are branching out with mixed success. The Civil War'esque 7 minute opener was not a favoured move as Knocked Up proves to become very tiresome. But gems like On Call and Black Thumbnail keep the listener interested until the stretch of True Love Way, the raggae influenced Ragoo, a very 80's sounding Fans, and the slow swing of The Runner pave the way for Trunk, a bight of the old Kings in Camaro and finally finishing up with Arizona, leaving the listener satisfied and hungry for more.

The album is noticably a lot darker than Youth and Young Manhood and Ah-ha Shake Heartbreaker, but could not have come at a better time for the Kings as listeners are just starting to get tired of the KOL signature country rock of Joe's Head and Pistol of Fire. It shows the world what the kings are capable of and leaves a great taste in the mouth. Album rating, 7/10.

I know it's badly worded but I wanted to see what I could do as an album reviewer :xmassrudolph:
