you guys love the popular songs doncha?

What's wrong with popular songs? Or are you not musically cult if you like them?

neh...believe me, i find myself singing jeremy in the shower most days...

i was just observing that most of people's picks to embody grunge were the songs heard a thousand times on rock radios

True, but weren't the most popular songs also often the songs that made the genre big and loved with the masses,

who gives a flying shit about the masses? i sure as hell don't.

If you didn't, you wouldn't have made the remark you did about everybody mentioning popular songs.

what i was eluding to was the misconception that a popular movement is defined by that which is displayed through popular outlets and accessible by the mass culture.

the question, as i interpreted it, was how to define/describe grunge.

an entire musical movement is not, in my eyes, defined by the most accessible singles, but by the roots of the sound before the sound was refurnished into a culturally accessible 'popular' staple on radio and television media.

the question of 'definition' and 'most accessible' has been marred and constrewn as the same when they are completely different.

Anyone heard AIC and PJ doing a song called 'Alone' together? Its beautiful.

Is that Alice and PJ doing that song? I've heard it and it is a very good song, but it does'nt sound like either of them very much. Are you sure?

Yep - I'm positive. Its off something called Let The Buyer Beware.. Or so I'm told.

It sounds kinda like Vedder's vocals if you listen close enough.

It's a Pearl Jam song, AIC doesn't contribute.

Ok =]

Cheers for clearing that up.

I didn't think anything on it sounded like AIC, a friend of mine sent it me a while ago and thats just what the file was named.
