Estranged Reality
Preview the album: http://www.rhapsody.com/vangelis/operasauvageOpening with the beautiful "Hymne," this isn't Vangelis' best record (that would go to Blade Runner), but of its genre - electronica - it's probably my favorite and certainly his best early work. It's a testament to the strength of the album itself that it transcends its genre - the work on this places Vangelis alongside Ennio Morricone as one of the few modern composers who could justifiably rival some of the greatest classical composers of the last two centuries. If you're thinking to yourself that it's not your type of album because you're "not into" electronica or experimental stuff, trust me when I say that you don't have to be. Most New Age music is complete and utter rubbish but this is absolutely spellbinding.TRACK LISTING 1. "Hymne" 2:40 2. "Rêve" 12:26 3. "L'Enfant" 4:57 4. "Mouettes" 2:28 5. "Chromatique" 3:25 6. "Irlande" 4:43 7. "Flamants Roses" 11:50Brilliant. Moving. Hypnotic. Emotional.Vangelis recording 'L'Enfant' in his studio.Further reading:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_Sauvage Edited May 26, 2007 by Estranged Reality

It's for US users only Normally I don't post links to copyrighted material due to the forum rules and such, but this is a bootleg compilation and I'm pretty sure it's been endorsed by Vangelis himself over the years in light of his struggles to release the Blade Runner soundtrack (the eventual release to coincide with the Director's Cut left out a lot of his original work). I don't think it's illegal seeing as it's a bootleg and has been endorsed by the artist, so anyway, this is the definitive Blade Runner bootleg: http://u2n2.com/article.asp?id=9158 Edited May 27, 2007 by Estranged Reality

Lithium
You must be Adnan's new user? You're making a thread whenever you find out that you like a new artist, song or album, just like he did a couple of months ago. Oh, and I made a couple about new albums over the last week - Era Vulgaris and Carry On (Chris Cornell's album). Apart from that, I haven't really started any other topics about specific artists/albums. Edited May 27, 2007 by Estranged Reality
