I'd like to get one of the Stones' first albums. I'm sure that they are all excellent, but I'm only purchasing one for now. I listed the first three because I do have the fourth, Out of Our Heads. The Rolling Stones Now! seems to be the best album, but there's something about debuts. I'm also interested in 12 X 5 because it was recorded at Chess studios in Chicago.

Anyway, some help please?

I'd suggest going with the UK version of their debut album.

There's 3 versions of Tell Me on the Stones' early discs.

Version 1 is on the Stones uk debut (full length release...not e.p.).

The uk debut release is titled The Rolling Stones.

Version 1 is 4:08 in length,it has a guitar break and an extended ending that does not fade out.

(version 3 appeared on various export albums in Europe and elsewhere)...it has the guitar break but fades out at the end.

Version 2 is on the Stones US bebut album entitled England's Newest Hitmakers.

Version 2 is the shortest version and clocks in at 2:59...it doesn't have the guitar break and fades out at the end.

...go for the Stones debut, UK version

(remastered of course)

Well, as anyone who owns one knows, those SACD's are absolutely bangin'. I'm not planning on buying anything else, regardless of which album I choose. I'll see if I can find the UK version of the debut, and if not I'll pick up Now!. Good deal?
