I am thinking because that was the 80's and some of the 80's style made people look older and she was going for the I'm mature and in control look.I don't think she was fat, just chubby. Its interesting watching that clip - my god 80's fashion was attrocious. I cant believe i ever thought that was a good look...but we did.
