Rourke had called in favors from old friends, including Rose and Bruce Springsteen, to contribute songs for the film's soundtrack. Rourke beat out Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt (in the "Curious Case of Benjamin Button"), Leonardo DiCaprio (in "Revolutionary Road"), Frank Langella (in "Frost/Nixon") and Sean Penn (in "Milk") to win the award.
