  1. after playing better, Axl said: I have learned by now not to say that that is from our forthcoming album. But enough with all that. All this (something about false culture).

I nearly shat myself when he said "but enough with all that". I thought he was going to announce it right there.

Exciting show. He definetly was acting like he had to prove himself.

Personal theory, it is almost to GNR's advantage to have a revolving cast because the music is capable of adapting with time and the idea of GNR lives on throughout the ages. After such a long hiatus, if the original lineup came back, could they do anything new?

  2. There is plenty to do in Portland. If I was a visitor here just for 1 day, I would hit up all the local breweries. The large national ones and the mom and pops. Lots of good beer in Portland and lots of good food.

I concur. If you dont want to get smashed on a tour of breweries, you can cruise through Portland's distinctive areas... as a college student, I think of places that may not come up in tour guides, but make you know that it is a city with individuality.

It will be a great show. I am stoked... ya front floor tickets

  3. Not that it's illegal, it's considered suspicious activities in which police/authorities have the right to take your camera. It's just a measure against terrorism I guess.

The French will do anything to avoid a war.

as opposed to Americans who seek them?

    francophobia does not equal coolness

  4. the track sounds very good...if it's real

Do you mean it won't sound good if it isn't real??

no, it means that if it does not sound good, then it is not real because when you have a conditional statement like "if, then", whenever the antecedent (the "if" part) is true, then the consequent (the "then part) is always true. So logicians talk about this thing called Modus Tollens when they say that when the consequent is false, the antecedent must be false too (if the then part is false and the if part is true, then the original statement is false. So, since we are assuming the original statement to be true, if the then part is false, then the if part must also be false).

    Kinda inane anyway.

  5. frankly, the prediction for June 2007 is entirely baseless. The writer makes a string of assumptions that only have a limited reflection in reality. Furthermore, you use the subjunctive (the mode in language for expressing emotion, among other things ... I fear that, I want that) in critical parts of your post; instead of the indicative, the tense for conveying fact.

    so drop this issue.

  6. How well they are doing compared to other european copuntires that haven´t been in a war? Well tell me, where I am wrong? Cause that I would really like to know. :)

Are we talking about WWII as a war or including colonial wars as well? I think we have to realize that Europe ranges from Luxembourg (highest GDP per capita in the world), Belgium (highest worker productivity in the world), France, Britain, Germany and Italy (all of which are members of the G8) to places like Albania, Serbia or Macedonia which are not very developed.

So, countries in Europe that have not been involved in major armed conflict in the last 60 years. Switzerland (doing quite well, as it always seems to do). Lichtenstein, doing more or less what Switzerland does, Andorra (from my memory, not being splendid but by no means like Angola or something). Sweden, as pointed out earlier, is doing very well amongst these countries. It just gets a little dark in the winter time.

  7. No, the media doesn't care because GNR doesn't really matter when it comes to culture. It didn't start any movements or anything like that. Just because GNR was once popular does not mean it has the same legacy as an influential band. Nirvana changed a lot of things, so Nirvana is more important in the eyes of the media.

I love Guns N' Roses, I think the songs are fun to listen to, but the band was not really influential at all. What bands that came after GNR copied GNR? A lot of bands copied Nirvana, that's for sure. I don't even like Nirvana and I understand this.

I live in a city that has a lot of rock bands swimming around the undergrounds scene, and have gotten to know a lot of them quite well. One thing that they all have in common? GNR as an influence. Every member of that band has influenced so many musicians, but who could aspire to actually be like them? It's a fool's mission, you'd end up with dirt on your face. Nirvana, on the other hand, is a lot easier to emulate, but they were the groundbreakers in the direction music took for sure. But who can sing like Axl or play like Slash?

As far as the media, all they need is a moment of weakness and they encourage the public to jump on the bashing bandwagon, which all too often, people do. Then they change their minds, once the media does of course. It's all about the story, and a negative one causes more contraversy and talk than a complementary one.

So long as we are talking about influence, I think it is important to remember the effect GNR has had in people's lives. I find GNR to be exciting, honest and intense. No band really compares to them in that spectrum for me. So, if GNR has brought something to you, then it really does have an appreciable influence in this world.

    Just a thought...
