  1. Eh, you're being harsh on the guy.

I will say, however, to the original poster - that if he REALLY wanted to do the fanbase a big favor, he'd put the DVDs up on a torrent. It won't take much time. Just rip 'em as .VOBs to your hard drive, make a torrent for each DVD, and just upload a few gigs. One at least one person has downloaded the discs, you wouldn't even really have to keep seeding if you didn't want to. It's easy as hell, and if you need help starting a torrent, just ask for help and I can give you some info.

That's a lot easier - and nicer - for us fans than making us send you blank DVDs.

  2. So I have this buddy named Rob Luther. He is a lawyer at some think tank in Cali, and a really big rock fan. He likes Bon Jovi more than GNR but I don't hold that against him. Recently he sends me this message:

John, I need your address, I have found something for you in my travels. . .

    I was like: what?

So I send him my address here in fort myers about a week ago.

Today a gently wrapped jewel case arrives with three sony burned DVDs. They are marked with post it notes.

    GNR 1

    GNR 2

    GNR 3

There was no note, or anything else.

So, I put them in my DVD player, grab the remote, and take a seat. WOW!

Enclosed on the 3 DVD set is every single television appearance that GNR has ever made, in full 1080i HD where possible.

It is a cool anthology. There are no menus or anything, but the appearances are broken up on tracks. If anybody wants it, PM me, or email me at lawyerjohnevans@aol.com, and I'll send you my info. I'm gonna need three blank DVDs and a self addressed pre-paid mailer.

you should all see this. it's pretty cool.

  3. on a sidenote: to bend this topic a little, maybe I'll just start a new thread, but, has anyone else realized that sirius satellite radio and XM have been playing a lot more GNR on their hard rock stations?

  4. This is all I am going to say.

when Appetite came out, I was a fan.

when Illusions I & II came out, I was in sixth grade, and received them for my birthday.

I listened to them over and over.

When the Spagetti thing came out, I even bought that.

It wasn't very good, but it was something from my favorite band.

    Then we had to wait.

I went through high-school with nothing.

I went through college, and all we got was live era.

I went through law school, and got to see them in 02 in Columbus.

    It was a great time.

Then we saw nothing for a while.

Then I flew to NYC and saw one of the hammerstein shows, and I knew axl was back, and something was happening.

I think we all need to realize that the tentative release date of the album is only 10 months removed from the first REAL world tour in like 10 years+. From the first hammerstein show on May 12 of this year, axl has played a ton of shows on 3 continents. Over a million people have seen them live in concert and realize how awesome GNR can still be. I still submit that there is nothing like seeing GNR live. I saw them 2 months ago in Estero, FL at one of the smaller shows, and they were still great.

What I am saying is, this is just another speed bump.

    We have a date now.

    We didn't have one before.

Merck is out of the picture.

It's probably better for the band.

GNR has been referred to recently as a family (i.e. the whole Brain, Frank thing) and I think Merck can now be seen as the cheap uncle that nobody wants a christmas card from because there's not going to be any money in it.

I think we should all sit back, relax for 90 days, and see what happens in March 07.

I bet it will be worth the wait.

  5. Apparently, there is an error on the GNR myspace site that misled people to think Brain was no longer in GNR. Merck said there's no truth to the rumor that Brain has left the band.

"Not at all. That is an error that will be corrected immediately."

Once again, it is always nice to know that in times of serious doubt about a story surrounding the band, we have Madison to clear the smoky rumour mill. Good job once again Madison. Your presence here separates this board from the average fan board, and we might be lost without your help.

  6. really cool setlist.

althought i didn't think i would say this, i am glad to see that they have added a song from the spaghetti incident to the setlist somewhat permanently.

  7. I was at the show last night.

It was really cool seeing all the people come out of the woodwork to an arena that really isn't near anything. There were seats left, but I felt that it was pretty full.

    Axl was great.

    The energy level was high.

    I got really drunk.

    Good times in Fort Myers.

  8. in my opinion, jarmo isn't what HTGTH needs.

he's the type of guy that got his ass kicked in highschool.

he's the type of guy that was molested by his preacher.

he's the type of guy that bangs fat chicks.

he's the type of guy that thinks Mark Foley is just misunderstood.

    he thinks Bush caused 9/11.

he's the type of guy that thinks his vision of what a GNR fan site should be is the only vision that should be realized.

    He's wrong.

If it was up to me, he would be on 'read only' status on this board, but then again, the mods here aren't a bunch of nazis like he is. I salute mygnr's management for having an open mind and always being an open forum.
