  1. This is it now, its crunch time for GNR ...this chinese democracy has lingered on for over a decade, it wont be an earth shaterring album judging by some of the leaked tracks, they humiliated themsleves last year by touring everywhere without any music out, then they did the same by giving the impression it would come out before the end of the year.

And ITS HAPPENED YET AGAIN, Axl has foolishly given a date for MArch that he knew wouldnt be enough time, so what excuse could he possibly have now?

Stop sucking up to the man and let loose on him for once, what exactly has he been doing in all that time apart from hiring many artists to write material for him and then sacking them i ask you. or them becoming frustrated and leaving because he was to difficult to work with.

This is turning into a BIG Joke! if it wasnt already, and it is in most circles an inside joke.

I recall a conversation in 2002 with a friend who adores GNR and plays in a well known band laughing at the suggestion of Chinese Democracy coming out, and that was waaaay back in 2002 .....

So is all this just a cash grab in disguise???? i mean he only plays the majority of OLD era GNR, and only played the songs that have leaked as demos

  2. But hey guys, look on the bright side...instead of Gn'R we can look forward to Panic at the Disco, Fallout Boy, and Good Charlotte.

Such hard rockers. They got nothing on Axl.

Those bands always make McDonalds music, its fast food!! :sleeper:

It hurts me that all these cheesy bands are being probed by the record companies while quality bands get pushed aside, at least in the nineties we had many GREAT bands getting airplay.

this decade the radio stations and commercial music has almost died imo, its a sorry state of affairs.

Also the romanticism of music is gone, back in the 80's/90's you couldnt download music from the net, you would physically walk into a music store and wack on the headphones to vinyl/cd's, and purchase your choices wrapped in paper, you couldnt wait to get home and open it all up to hear it as a whole.

These days people just download seperate tracks off of iTunes!

  3. this compilation apart from being mind blowing introduced me to the song "Because" ...which is harmonically perfect pop music, go and check out the Abbey Road version which has the synths and a rythm section too.

  4. it means sweet fck all, any release date by a corporation outside of the geffen record label should be taken as an assumption.

release dates have popped up everywhere over the years on all the popular websites, and no album was forthcoming.

the confirmation will be come with a tracklisting from the band and label, its that simple

  5. Good job Iceman

I have to say- Buckethead is obviously a great guitarist, but Slash is a songwriter/guitarist. Anyone(buckethead) can take someone elses song and add some killer riffs, but to write the song- that is the talent

Buckethead wrote and released an INSANELY impressive solo album if i recall, so he also writes when given the chance, its just that his job in GNR was to play old material and to come up with solos for new GNR ....

so buckethead is also a great songwriter

  6. March 6th wont be the date!, mmmkay

just making sure people are not actually taking this seriously, why?

because you would have heard news of a single/album by now, there would have been comfirmation by the label already of the album coming out, probably promotion etc.

but as he said he will keep people informed

  7. once again

here is the deal with Nirvana and Cobain.....

they ended hair metal and popularized independent music in one full swoop

we may not see another overnight movement of that sort ever again

if you try to understand by looking at lyrics or comparing them to alice in chains, your missing the point- hell Queensryche wrote better lyrics [arguably] but it was the sound, the emotion, the intensity and sincerity of those performances that are the point

thats what makes them important, not whether kurt was a an overrated poet, lyrically he was clever but thats not whats important about nirvana, they literally changed the perception of the commercial music industry on its head .

before them we had mega lame eighties music still playing on the radio

  8. i think in reality if it gets out before the end of 2007, its a success, because i think the record company have been playing games with Axl and Axl/Merck visa versa

Axl needs a new manager, and im not certain if the album is even finished.

so dont keep your hopes up for March 6, prepare for it to change yet again

  9. although its a tentative release date, if march 6th is the date then expect......

    -- a single/video by january/february

-- promotion by early january at the latest

-- a leak by early february (dont be offended by this, almost every album leaks before its date in this day and age)

so im saying that the date could change or the date will be around March/April as Axl stated and if it is then expect a single announcement in january.

the wisest thing for Axl to say in his letter would have been "I am going to talk with the record company and give 100% until the album is finished, then i will inform people of a release date, happy holidays"

  10. edit: *its a nancy sinatra cover* ....doubt they'll record it if thats the case unless they get permission

WOW! that would have been perfect for the Casino Royal Bond Theme

Is there are a studio recording of this?

also "Hands" is a great song
