"Positive response" WTF...you need to cut down on those oxygen tanks and/or get real management.

And FYI this board is deleting (or being selective on which ones they want on here) a lot of the negative posts - I've been watching the posts come on and within minutes they "disappear" and not because of foul language etc.

BTW, moving on is changing the name of the band and playing new songs. At 50, what will you do if the current band members leave?

Wow, after all these years I'm becoming a hater, I can't believe it :(

Gunsguy edit to post full thing in first post:

To: Cleveland, Ohio, Guns N' Roses Fans and everyone who's shown support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

I seriously didn't plan on or expect the overwhelmingly positive response and public support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. With such a generous outpouring of solidarity from fans, media outlets, writers and other artists, I'm truly humbled, blown away and unbelievably relieved! To be honest, I thought it would go the other way and was just hoping to weather the storm. As I said, I sincerely didn't want to disappoint anyone. It gets old being the outlaw even if "it's only rock and roll".

It took a lot of focus and soul searching to be sincere and informative while making a genuine effort to be somewhat diplomatic. We made, what I feel, are real efforts to learn about the Hall and the Board, spoke as I said with the president and various members, and though I inducted Elton John and Bernie Taupin in '94 saying something to the effect of "I'm learning what the Hall's about..."

I still don't exactly know or understand what the Hall is or how or why it makes money, where the money goes, who chooses the voters and why anyone or this board decides who, out of all the artists in the world that have contributed to this genre, officially "rock" enough to be in the Hall?

This isn't an attack. These are genuine issues I don't have enough verified information on to have more than rough ideas. Certainly not enough information to make any judgments about.

I would like to apologize to Cleveland, Ohio for not apologizing to them beforehand for not attending [the ceremony] in their city. I think they know how much I genuinely love performing there. Cleveland does in fact Rock!!

Now that the smoke's cleared a little, any desperate, misguided attacks have been just that, a pathetic stab at gossip, some lame vindictiveness, the usual entitlement crap, he's obsessed, crazy, volatile, a hater. I once bought a homeless woman a slice of pizza who yelled at me she wanted soup. We got her the soup. You can get your own.

Again: HUGE thanks to the fans and to everyone for the incredible public support. My congratulations to the other artists inducted. And my apologies to the city and people of Cleveland, Ohio. I hope you'll forgive me and we hope to see you again soon!

    Keep Rockin',

    Axl

Unlike my open letter to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Guns N' Roses Fans and Whom It May Concern this was written for GNR's official website, Facebook account and my personal twitter account and not intended as a press release. If anyone does choose to pick this up as has been done previously I'd appreciate if you'd run in full including this paragraph so as not to give a partial picture, have things taken out of context or to imply or inadvertently give the impression this was intended for other outlets.

    Thanks in advance. Peace-

  2. There must be a good explanation for this--- maybe he had to go to the bathroom? it was very cold out last night, didn't want to harm his voice? who was the woman, maybe they were on their way to do something? or maybe the fan was just a pushy dbag? I'm thinking Axl must have got the feeling it was a pushy autograph seller- who brings albums for signing to concerts? Real fans have him sign their body parts or tickets.

Good video. I hope he got out of the way!

  3. It was a really good show, EPIC is stretching. 2 quotes taken from the RS review stuck out to me:

"It couldn't be easy being in this band. Every single member must be painfully aware that the vast majority of the audience wish that other people were playing their instruments. That said, they do an incredible job - even if takes three guitarists to do what Slash and Izzy used to do."

"Weird as it may seem, some of these guys have been in the band far longer than the original line-up. That makes it pretty hard to call them a glorified cover band."

  4. The place is old and really in need of repairs but its still pretty cool. I love old buildings, did anyone notice the plaques dating back to the 1930's on the wall of couples who fell in love there (it used to be a skating rink) can I say the word "charming" on this forum?

Stage was bare, no GNR signs or anything. I made the mistake of going in at 9:30. We got a spot up front and stood there like sardines for 2 hours - which included listening to one of the worst opening acts ever- they were 60+ year old men, ouch! Only the Stones can get away with that. We gave up our spot and moved back because everyone was pushing and shoving really bad. I just wanted to have a good time and not fight with d bags. We moved around to find a better spot but it was packed everywhere we went. Not sure how many Roseland holds but the greedy effer's sold too many tickets. So much for small intimate venue.

GNR came on at 11:30ish. Pretty good show, no surprises. Yes, Axl's voice was off on several songs. The audience singing along helped covered that fact at times. He did nail Civil War which was my favorite of the night. Axl looked good, still wearing hats and the sweaty leather coat all night-- I wish he'd take it off and show us his guns! People were saying his hair looked shorter, I thought it was a lighter shade too. Beta came out and got the place to sing Happy Birthday to him. It was sweet. She'll probably do it at the next show too.

All in all I love Axl and all his new band members- they put all heart in and it shows. This is why I go. It doesn't matter to me which songs they play. Any GNR song old/new or on/off is good!

Question: I left a few minutes early to catch the train- I was wondering if they dropped all the red heart shaped balloons that were up in the ceiling all night. Were they a part of the show? If so, nice!

  5. Thread ruined.

I was just about to post "why do I bother posting" after reading the replies, but when I saw the user was suspended and the post was deleted (thats hysterical!!) it was well worth it.

    Thanks gunsguy :)

Yeah, I know it's a stretch but maybe...

  6. If I remember correctly Roseland Ballroom is across the street from the Ed Sullivan Theatre where the David Letterman show is taped....wouldn't it be awesome if GNR stopped by and played a song or 2? They tape at 4pm - its possible...

This morning I saved $500 on new car insurance, then I got a GNR presale email from ticketmaster. I got my tickets. This was a good day, lol!

  7. IMPORTANT TIP: Stay far away from the tall soft portly white guy with the red curly hair on the very top of his head. He has a plutonic side-kick. She is an Asian woman who stands about 5ft.1. They will be scream in your ear out of anger if you pass by im front of them! The will scream "MOVE!" is high-pitched unison! Boom...right in your ear n face with their thick beefjerky breath. They were rude and odd, to say the least! grrrrrrr! They wrecked my concert experience!

    OMG, too funny!

  8. Everyones a big fan of something- a sports team, a tv show, a music group etc.

I've been a die-hard GNR fan since 1987 and have seen them play here in NY anytime they're in town ever since (both the original and Axl & company-Hammerstein Ballroom rocked!)

I was 22 then, dancing on giant speakers in night clubs and I'm uh 46 now, and not doing that anymore, but I would if Spit in Levittown NY were still open. Wow, I've been listening to SCOM for 24 years!?

I discovered this website years ago. I like to check the forum occasionally for updates. Sometimes the topics are interesting, most times silly. Once in a while I chime in.

Like everyone else, I too had always hoped for a reunion of the original band. I'd seen several shows with new players - although they were really good shows they were always missing something - obviously the old players. I went to these shows anyway. I didn't like to admit it, but it was like some people said, it was the "Axl Rose and his hired Guns" show.

Last nights show was in NJ which is a hassle to get to from L.I. NY, (why didn't you play MSG?) plus it was a work night and I heard they've been going on really late - but hey its Axl. We were both really tired, it's been a rough week - sad because we had to put our 14 year old dog to sleep a few days ago. We weren't in the best of moods.

I bought Gen Admission tickets, which means we'd be standing all night (I'm a bartender and I stand all day) My poor husband works crazy hours so I figured if we made it to midnight that would be good enough.

10pm - the warmup was some band from England "Ask Alexandria" or something like that. We got a spot right up front. Alot of people were heckling which I never understand, its so mean. Their singer did spit every 10 seconds though, I counted. After they got off there was a guy mopping the stage- that was his job - mopping spit, poor guy.

BTW, alot of freaks in Gen Adm. Yeah I'm talking about the big 50 year old guy who was throwing Skittles at the stage and snorting coke during GNR. Really? You and your obnoxious little buddy almost knocked me and a bunch of people over like 3 times after you tried to push your way up front. I hope you got pulled over and searched on the way home you douche.

11pm on the dot, they started playing the theme music from the TV show "Dexter" (where Axl got his forum name?) then GNR came out and started with CD. Holy crap did they sound good and every song after that! These guys played like they were together forever. Every song was right on. Even the covers (The Who, Pink Floyd, AC/DC) they did were awesome. Everyone on stage had personality and charisma, you didn't know who to watch. I can't believe I'm saying this but it was just as good as the original GNR. They went non stop till 2 am. We left at 1:30 before the encores (my husband was about to pass out) and I was bummed to hear I missed "Madagascar".

Anyway, Axl Rose, I read that you read these posts sometimes and I want to thank you for a great show last night and for putting together this perfectly fitted group. Took you long enough! And thank you for taking care of GNR name and its songs all these years. I met Duff at his book signing recently. I read his book, and whether its based on fact or not, you can't help but adore the guy. Normally I'd feel like a traitor for saying your new line-up is just as good, but they really are and seeing no reunion is in your futures than Duff might feel proud that you did right by GNR standard. But WTF do I know, I'm just a weirdo fan and its passed my bedtime.

BTW, I got some serious eye contact with you a couple of times. I was the tall long haired blond about 10 rows from stage on your left singing along with you, (but off key) and thats right, you checked me out! Thank you, you made my night! As I listen to my husband snoring in the other room...

  9. So much better than 2002!!! Buckethead was an insulting freak show that I couldn't wait for to end.

Axl sounds so much better, looks so much better and shows so much more confidence with his new band now...he has his edge back. The Hammerstein is obviously more intimate than Madison Square Garden, somewhat bigger than a movie theatre with no seats. It was 2 hours and 15 minutes of straight action. No long guitar or drum solo breaks. This guys 44? He must be doing something right!!

  10. I went Sunday night and was wondering the same thing before I got there....

The theatre was a nice surprise. It was a lot nicer than I thought it would be and its great because its not that big so anywhere you stand you get a good view.

The crowd wasn't rowdy at all. Everybody was singing and in a great mood....just a bunch of diehard GNR fans of all ages, grateful for the comeback. Every crowd has exceptions though, I did see one slob puke all over the floor and it hit some poor guys leg. My boyfriend told security hoping they'd throw him out, but nobody did. I saw him dancing around later bumping into people. Some big guys just shoved him back and forth (it was a pretty funny sideshow, the guy was annoying and he deserved it)

Don't wear a sweater or coat, it gets really warm in there and theres no where to hang it. If you're a girl, wear a waist pack instead of a pocketbook and comfortable shoes....its a lot of standing. If you want to drink, bring your license. They won't serve you without it. If you don't want to see the warmup, go around 10:00. Axl comes on at 10:30-11:00. I don't know why people get on line so early, theres no reason to. Really, anywhere you are in the theatre is great.

Hope this helped. You'll probably never see them play in a small place like this again, so enjoy it!! I'm going again on Wednesday, but mezzanine 2 this time.

  11. Hi all...very glad to hear it was a great show and you all had a great time.

I'm going Sunday and Wednesday night and had a few questions about the Hammerstein and was hoping you could help. I'm sure you're all tired, but any help would be appreciated.

    1. How was the General Admission, was it caos? One night I have floor and one night I have mezzanine. In your opinion, which is better?

    2. Can you smoke there and do they sell alcohol?

    3. How strict are they on cameras?

    4. What time should I get there to get a good spot, or does it not really matter?

    5. Tickets say no readmission, if I go late to miss the warmup will they still let us in?

    6. What time did GNR go on stage and what time did it all end?

    Thanks.

  12. There was a guy telling a story about Axl Rose, boxer shorts and some snow storm. I think it was that magician (I can't remember his name) he's a big tall guy and his partner is a little short guy who I think is a mute. They're famous and have been around for years. I know, sounds strange but I was in my car and missed alot of the story and was wondering if anyone else heard it and could explain.

    Penn and Teller?

Yes!!! Guess you don't know the story, but thanks for the names.

  14. Isn't anyone else a little mad that after 3 years of almost silence (after another 10 years of silence) and the disaster of the last tour, Axl and his new band are playing for the first time in foreign countries and not in the USA. I'm so glad he's coming out of hiding and planning shows, but all I can think when I hear about it is "what good does that do me?"

I know he has fans all over the world and no offense to anybody, but don't you think he owes it to us local fans who made him famous to begin with to let us see and hear the new stuff first? I was at the last show he played in NYC 12/5/02 during a blizzard (awesome), but all shows scheduled after that were cancelled with no good explanation....
