  1. 62 pages of hate? Wow. And some of you call yourselves fans.

I had zero expectations for the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. Why people are upset with Axl because he doesn't want to perform with a few people he doesn't like is beyond me. Axl and Slash haven't spoke to each other in something like 15 years. Get over it.

    LEAVE AXL ALONE!!!

    leave-britney-alone-02.jpg

Not once did I say leave him alone. Learn to read.

All you fucking reunion cupcakes should be banned.

How is it people are still upset about this? He called Slash a cancer a few years ago and you still expect him to attend? Give your fucking head a shake.

Hey, that's a terrible picture of a crying Duff!

On a serious note, the HOF reportedly told Axl he's in like it or not??? Seriously???

Is the HOF familiar with Axl's legal team? If not, they might be soon. ;)

I see lawsuits coming soon. Axl will probably go back into hiding to deal with the legal issues.

  2. Peter is out??? Dam he lasted little over a month... Why can't Rose keep a manager...

Because they all just want Axl to do a reunion with the old band.

And Beta is very unlikely to do that.

Hmm so Beta, Fernando and Vanessa have been managing GNR since December 2010. Judging by the results, they have been doing a fantastic job so far. The North American tour has been mind-blowing. If they can manage a new GNR release in the next year or so it will be a major victory for the band and the fans.

Something we can use against those idiots who go on about how Old Guns is better than New Guns because they did more stuff and shit.

Again...most people who did not live through the experience of GNR back in the day will never understand.

  3. Finally was able to see it. Gotta say though that a lot of that shows seems like BS. I believe the "bins" (i.e., storage units) are real enough, though not so sure about the one that exploded when they opened it. I think the couple that one the GNR bin are legit but I think that Jesse (the guy that he got in a fight with on a previous episode) and Bear are bogus. I think everyone else standing around are extras. Plus I love that the woman criticized Jesse for bidding on a bin cause he thought stuff was valuable and then she finds the framed Appetite rape cover and thinks there's only two in the world. And on top of all that it was a 2nd issue too! $100 max for that. Those record awards were the real steal there, and only then cause they were awarded to Slash. But still cool though.

Hell I even have the Appetite album with the original rape cover. Don't think it's worth much.

  4. HAH yea im sure I could write a bit to , but depending on how many people respond that will determine a lot about this project. If this is the idea we decide on, we get a count from forum members then figure you'll probably only get half of those that really send anything. If we have enough people so it doesn't come off as lame , for example a HUGE card with only 20 signitures, then we can go for there. I'm figuring it might be cool if the notes are written on construction paper of a few different colors. But until we find out how many people wanna do this, it's hard to figure out how long a note should be. My guess is that it all depends on the size of your hand writting.

I have a feeling that so many people will sign up for this and you'll have to have such a large card you are going to need a freight truck to get it to him.

  5. Matt never wrote any music for GN'R.

Chris, Bucket, Brain and Tommy all should be inducted.

I am happy that the old band are being inducted but these guys should be as well.

They really shouldn't..... I think Dizzy is a stretch.. Didn't Axl play most of the piano parts on the album and then Dizzy played them live? I could do without Matt getting in there too but he did play on the UYI's albums.. As for Chris, Bucket, Brain and Tommy.. be realistic, Chinese Democracy has zero to do with the induction.

Last I checked Chinese Democracy is a Guns N' Roses album.

    Are you an idiot?

I love you people who have no clue how to hold an argument so you resort to insulting others when you have been defeated.

Chinese Democracy and the band behind it are the reasons Guns N' Roses is still a working machine. That needs to be acknowledged and respected as much as the contributors to the beginning of this band.

I disagree. I think this version, lets call it the CD version should be judged/acknowledged/respected on its own merits. The era that ended in 93 deserves this induction for what they achieved.

Lets judge the current guys on what they can do. Sorry but so far they are not hall of fame material, maybe one day but not now. If they were inducted now it would be on the back of the work of others.

What Ive just typed is the truth. Im not being arrogant but it really is. No disrespect or point scoring but it simply is the reality.

I understand what you're saying, but this new band (not particularly this current incarnation) but the blokes I have mentioned in my previous posts have had to work pretty hard through all the negative press and maintain the musical standard the original band stamped. Chris and the boys have done an excellent job of maintaining and growing the lagacy of Guns N' Roses which to me is very deserving of a HOF induction.

I wouldnt say that they have grown the legacy in any meaningfull way. I dont think its enough im afraid. I just dont think that some people are understanding what GNR did back then. They were BIG. Not in a mainstream way but in an every 13-17 year old kid in the fucking world knew all the songs. They were being talked of as the next Stones and no one batted an eyelid because it was just natural that that was how it was going to be. Slash was as much in demand as Ax if not more. Major magazines would put Duff the fucking drunk bassist on the cover and it would sell tons more.

THIS is the reason why they are getting inducted. Fuck I remember when Gilby broke his arm or something and Izzy came back for a show or two. The news was all over the main radio and even in the tabloids.

You make a very good point. It seems to me that there are quite a few younger people on here that just dont realize how big this band was In the early 90's. Sometimes It feels like yesterday standing In line at the local record store for the midnight release of the Illusion albums or standing amongst a crowd of 60,000 people at three rivers stadium on the Use Your Illusion Tour, Than again sometimes It feels like a lifetime ago. Anyway(not knocking the current band, seen them twice on this tour and they were great) but the Chinese Democracy album and playing to 5-6,000 people per night on the current tour does nothing to justify the new members being Inducted.

I totally agree that some don't realize the magnitude of the band back then. Hell...Rock n Roll was different back then. It was much more mainstream and much more talked about and reported on than it is now. The scale of the media that surrounded GNR back then can be compared to the scale that now surrounds crap like Bieber and Lady GaGa.

  6. Mick Wall said (take it for what it's worth) he spoke with Axl when Dizzy first joined the band and Axl told him about him joining. He said Axl told him he wanted Dizzy in the band and that he was suppose to be in the band from the start (three years ago), but he was in a car accident and messed up one of his hands and couldn't play.

  7. I think what he means is, the rock and roll hall of fame is for fans, not the artists...

No classic artists sits and home and goes, you know what man, im in the rock and roll hall of fame, im awesome...If you do, you're probably not much of an artist anymore. He just sees it as being cool and is glad we can all enjoy it.

Ridiculous how people over analyze stuff.

Steven does. He started preparing his speech 3 weeks ago.

    Love Steven though.

  8. I still don't get what "wrote the song" means. He was the drummer and made up his drum parts, just like a guitar player makes up their guitar parts. They're all part of a song and each shine at different times and any part of a song can be a highlight even if it's not part of the original idea. Is the person who "writes" the song the person who writes the lyrics? The chords? The melody? Whatever the most prominent part, vocal, or instrument on a song is? Whatever part is thought of first for a song? When you all write together I don't get this who writes thing, they all wrote it. Steven says it was him and Slash playing together the first time slash was doodling with SCOM and Steven was the one who first convinced him it was good. Who knows, maybe if Steven had not have done that Slash may not have played it around Axl or Axl may not have felt as strongly about it before Slash and Steven developed it a bit.

People saying Steven didn't write anything, I don't get. Did you listen to AFD? There's drums on every song! Who played those drums and wrote most of those drum beats?

have you ever played in a band?

I'm not hating on Adler, but how was his drumming on AFD that particular?

Cinderella, Ratt or even Pretty Maids used the EXACT SAME drums patterns.

he only used basic drums beats...

    Anybody could have written that.

And as fars as SCOM goes, this is AXL who convinced Slash in playing it, not Adler.

I think what Knife is referring to is the opening riff on SCOM. Adler said Slash was screwing around on the guitar one day and played what he called a "circus theme". Adler said wait a minute play that again because he liked it, and it went from there.

  9. It never ceases to amaze me how people bicker on here sometimes...or should I say most of the time. This back and forth thing with who is GNR is ridiculous. But at times fun to read.

GNR did start with Tracii Guns and friends, and Axl and Izzy. Hence the Guns in Guns n Roses. Were they the original GNR? If you go by the definition of original, then yes they were. Were they the members that originally gave GNR their fame? No.

Duff apparently responded to an ad that Axl put in a local paper for a bass player. Tracii and friend(s) dropping out right before the gigs that Duff set up,was the reason Duff contacted Slash and Steven who were in their own "band" with revolving members (If I remember right, and chances are I don't, they may have been called Road Crew). This lead to the hell tour which made them VERY close and believed they could do whatever they wanted. And they could...except for stay together. Slash said very early on that if ANY member were to leave the band it would never be the same for the four remaining members. GNR as we knew it was doomed when Steven left. Izzy leaving was the frosting on the cake.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven are the reasons GNR are on the map. Whoever came and went after that is not the reason of the RRHOF induction or their tremendous popularity. I believe, and this is only my opinion, that the ones who say that NuGNR is the reason they are still on the map either wasn't alive, are too young to remember, or just don't remember the influence the band had on the public back then. And not just because they were so enormously popular but because it was a different time...a different atmosphere, things were just different. The "feeling" was different than it is today. Rock n Roll was different.

Believe me I am not trying to take anything away from NuGNR. I'm sure they are as great as all you that have been to their concerts have said. I wouldn't know as mine was cancelled, but I still very much hope to see them some day soon and I do like CD. But they are not the reason for the RRHOF induction as the GNR name would still be hugely remembered even if Axl did not continue on with new members.

I honestly think Axl may go to the ceremony as he said it is more for the fans and I know he likes pleasing his fans. I also think Slash and maybe Izzy will be there. I'm sure Duff and Steven will be there. They have all said that the media and some fans have made the "bad blood" between Axl and Slash larger than it is to them. I don't think they will perform together as I imagine that would require rehearsing together prior to the ceremony and I just can't see happening.

  10. Really... they are defeating the purpose of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame name. Isn't there a Hip Hop Hall of Fame or Disco Hall of Fame others could qualify for?

What the f*ck are you talking about?

I am talking about LL Cool J and Donna Summer that bran brought up in the post before mine. They are a waste of a nomination for the RRHOF. They should be in the Hip Hop or Disco Hall of Fame or some shit like that.

  11. Does the actual venue get money from ticketsales?

The band rents the arena for X about of dollars.

Does the arena them also get a portion of the gate?

I would think the band management would have legal rights to sue if the arena cancelled because of ticket sales.

I own Arena X. I will rent out my arena to your group for $50,000. In turn, you get our arena for ten hours, plus we supply security and workers. And we will sell booze (arena gets those profits).

    Isn't that how it works?

Seems like the arena makes their big chunk on the rental fee. Why would they get any ticket sale money?

Don't know about the other arenas but this is what Albany TU Center has on their web site about how it works "Times Union Center does not set ticket prices for events. When a show comes to the Center, the event management essentially rents the building for the time of the performance. Thus, ticket prices are set by the show. Factors that help decide the price of tickets are things such as artist guarantee, tour payroll, production costs, rent, etc."

  12. Love all the "obviously sales" posts. Albany was because the venue couldn't handle the immensity of the production (weight of the stage rigs etc). I bet it's the same thing here. Too bad, but NOT THE BAND OR SALES' FAULTS!!

I would doubt the Albany show was cancelled because of the immensity of the production of weight of the stage, rigs etc. Times Union Center is a very large venue. They host hockey games and bring in 8,000 gallons of water which weighs approx. 66 thousand pounds. The score board weighs 8 1/2 tons. They had motorcross there the weekend before the scheduled concert and brought in tons and tons of dirt while having large backhoes moving it around. They have also had monster trucks there. I could be wrong, but I don't see the immensity of the production weighing more than these things.

The venue holds 17,000 people and when the upper level is curtained off, it holds 6,000. One of the local radio satations said there were between 4 and 5 thousand tickets sold so I'm not sure it was low ticket sales either. I don't know what their break even point is.

I don't know the reason of the cancellation but I can not blame it on the band. I know it would not have been cancelled without a damn good reason. The venue has said all along it was not them. I do think the promoters should be doing a better job though as all I heard on the radio and TV was about the Staind concert that weekend. I actually heard more about the cancellation of than I did the actual concert.

  13. Unstoppable? Something obviously stopped him from performing in Albany. Sorry...just bitter.

The venue stopped them. You're not implying it was Axl's fault was it? Because no source ever mentioned fault on his part so that came from someone's ass.

"Something obviously stopped him from performing in Albany" is hardly implying that it was Axl's fault. I have always been a fan of Axl's and have defended him through and through whenever anyone said anything bad about him more times than I can count or even remember. But I have to disagree with you when you say the venue stopped them. Here are the quotes from the venue. "We just got word that due to production issues the Guns and Roses show scheduled for tomorrow night has been cancelled. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase." and "Despite what everyone thinks, it was not the arena that cancelled this show. We were looking forward to it just as much as the rest of you!"

I was tracking what tickets were available in Albany for a few weeks as I had a feeling that the ticket sales were low. Stained was also in town and the radio stations were promoting the hell out of the Stained show. As of the day it was cancelled, you could get seats through Ticketmaster in section 104 and 122 as well as GA tickets. As soon as I found out it was cancelled, I went to Ticketmaster for DCU tickets and you could get section 107 and GA. Later that night the best seats you could get was 105 and GA. (You can google seating charts for Times Union Center and DCU if you are not familiar with where these sections are). Also within an hour of the announcement for the Albany cancellation, tickets being sold at ticketliquidator.com, acetickets.com went up by $250 for sec 109 at DCU. They went from $630 to $880. So this makes me think that ticket sales at both venues were low. If low ticket sales was the "production issues" then they probably figured they would try and combine the two shows thinking that the Albany ticket holders would go to Worcester as it is only a few hours drive and they are already excited to go. IF this is what happened, then production did a great job as it worked.

  14. Well, maybe it is that pyro thing! However it is kind of hard to believe that nobody checks out before booking a venue... Perhaps we will never know the reason!

They have had pyro there before so I don't think that would be an issue. I think you are right. We will never know the reason.

  15. Local radio station PYX 106 said the concert was not cancellled due to low ticket sales. They would have made enough to not take a bath on it. They also said that Axl is at 74 State Street Hotel which is right around the corner from Times Union Center and they are thinking about going down there to find out why it's cancelled. A handfull of people called in and said they saw them there and they even asked one of them how to get to a laundromat. They also said they knew they were going to cancel the show on Tuesday night. Totally sucks! I am devistated.

  16. Don't know if this is worthy of a new topic but was wondering if anyone could help me out that knows the way the seat rows are in Worcester. Obviously they start a AA, but how many double letters are there before it turns into single letters? I was suppose to be going to the Albany show and had great seats on DJ's side of the stage. Very disappointed! Grrr! Now have to settle for shit seats in Worcester.

  17. ron just responded to me on facebook: fucking bummed :(....so it's definitely not him, maybe there was something wrong with the stage and shit, who knows...and it doesn't matter, what's gone is gone...bring on worcester

Yea...with shit ass tickets. Thats all thats available.

  18. I am so disapointed. I was so excited about this show. I was bringing a family member that is 12 years old. Gave him his ticket for his birthday. He loves GNR. I feel so bad for him and don't know how I am going to tell him.

Anyone know where to get some good tickets (3) to Worcester? Hopefully I can bring him to this show. I had 4th row seats next to DJ for the Albany show. I would like to get something comparable (dreaming). I can't bring him into the pit.
