  1. I believe the old and new band are both great. if they weren't, they wouldn't be on a stage.

The old band wrote 20 good tunes and crapped out. They new band, (all 20 of them over they years) I'm sure

will have some great material as well.

The problem I see now with getting any type of album out in a timely manner is that Axl wants to sleep all day and stay up all night which is the opposite of everyone else's schedule.

WTF. -- Get out of bed dude with the rest of the world and get to work.

When the work is done, then you can sleep all day and stay up all night.

Because of this I'm sure the band feels like hired guns. Musicians need an their mind clear and need to feel appreciated to write well. The others probably feel like "us and Axl" and not like "us" which I'm sure slows things down and usually always effects writing. The feeling needs to be as it was in the old days to strike swiftly with hot material.

I say finish up CD and get it out, then have some fun. Do it right on the next album.

With the calibur of musicians in Axl's arsenal, it should only take 2 months to bang out a good CD regardless of conflicting styles.

"great leaders are followed, dictators are left to fall."

    yea, jmo & /rant off

  2. Can someone find out if more dates will be added. I'm hoping they come to Albany, if not I'll have to go somewhere else.

    I hear ya!

well, thats if your in Albany, NY and not Albany, Ga. I was hoping they would come to SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center)...seeing I live walking distance...which means I can get EXTRA shity. I seen them there in 88 which was nice :) As it stands now, I wont make any shows seeing I need to drive to any of the shows i can make. The closet one is in Mass, but its on a Tuesday which is a no-go for a dad raising 3 teens by himself -school night. Oh well, life is cool like that :)

  3. In my opinion all Axl needs to do is to come out with two or three...heck, even one heavy old-school rock tune and Americans would greet the new GNR with open arms. Even though his new stuff is cool, and I finally get/accept and like where he went with it all, GnR is ROCK AND ROLL. Axl is a great singer but he is the BEST rock singer and deep inside most know this. Most Americans want/need just a little bit of that rock back...just a little would do. The older dudes would buy it because it would remind them of the golden years, younger crowds would buy because Axl rocks. It wouldnt even need to be anything great, just rockin. Let Axl lay his magic over the top and it would be all over.

  4. To write heavy you need to practice writing heavy. We know he likes performing the stuff or he wouldnt be doing so well with the older material live. Writing that way is a different story. Look at the three guitar players he has now, and see what they have written in regards to heavy stuff. Not 'played' but written...and thats what you may or may not get from the new GnR. Im not sure if Axl practices or trys to write heavy or not but IMO he is very talented (and inspiring) at colaborating, he writes great lyrics, he is great at melodies (hard and soft) and a very good ballad writer. We all know he is insane at singing and performing.

As for guitar players, pro guitar players need to practice. When they practice they need to divide their time up according to what their job is. Covers, leads, rhythms while singing, or writing. The smart guys will practice at least leads and writing. Once you get to a certain point your desire to play covers fade away. At that point (strangly enough) many guys just practice leads. Few GOOD guitar players put the hours in practicing 'writing'. It takes time, time and more time for most. Then one day, the door opens. Almost everything you play is worth recording. Some guys get it sooner on, some later on. The outside world and life in general all effect when that time will come. Some guys love bouncing ideas off another guitar player (Slash and Izzy) and some guys will only work alone.

Its Axls band, and he is in control. First and foremost he needs to be happy. If hes not, why do it? IF people enjoy his workings, thats the best. I am predicting C Democracy to come out followed by the pre-aft tour. Then, next summer, he will seek some hard stuff. He will want more excitment without covering the older material. Maybe even seek Slash and crew(?) ...but thats as long as Slash can still write... Some guys do get rich, lazy, occupied with other 'more fun things', kids, and cant write like they used to. "The lord giveth, the lord taketh away..." for some. The best rule for writing is to never do dope when you write. There is plenty of time for that afterward :xmassrudolph:

  5. Classic rock isnt going or coming, its just hard to write like that. If it was easy, there would be thousands of pounding tunes on the radio today. I believe GnR would sell out US dates but they need to do it the old fashioned way, write a handful of tunes that hit like tunes off of Appetite. All it takes is one video that rocks and up-up and away, all over again, with any line-up...especially with Axl up front.

  6. I wouldnt care as long as there was something hot to look forward to. Personally, I like around 4-5 of the new songs with some growing on me even more after watching them live but I would love to see 3-4 heavy 'trademark' GnR tunes slipped in there. GnR is like the 'Skidoo' of heavy blues-rock. Many countries and many fans will take any GnR they get but I feel mainstream USA will look for the 'Skidoo' when they here the words, "coming up, some new GnR"!. I think they will do well with or without heavy tunes but if it takes afew more months no big deal. Its just nice seeing them working and performing instead of working and hanging.

  7. Visits like that make a world of difference. When you on lockdown in the hospital, time stands still. You cant go outside, you cant cut yourself, you cant eat, you cant drink, you cant sleep, on top of all of that Chemo makes you feel like you are hung over 24/7. Its similar to but worse than jail. At least in jail you have meals to look forward to. When something like Axl visits, time comes back to you. You call everyone, "F'in DUDE! Axl was here, he hung with us for lunch and we watched MTV for a while!!"....phones start going nutz, MP3 players start rippin GnR, then you sleep good :)

    yea,

    nice stuff

  8. Andy is a producer / engineer. Many bands trust him to do it all. If Andy is mixing the CD, he will attack all the tracks with compressors, eqs and gates. If there are 20 songs, that will take around a month or so as long as he works 10 hours a day and a few weekends here and there. If he needs to arange/clip/stretch a little, add another 2-3 days. There is always alot of going back and forth in the beginning. Once that has past, and he is left alone, it goes pretty fast. Mastering I thought was done at Sterling. I think its safe to say you can add another two weeks for that.

  9. Some people don't like Flying private jets across oceans because the entire flight is bumpy as hell.

Also, the 'thwarted' article is labled wrong. It should be 'almost thwarted' because there are 20 to 25 suspected men and they only caught 10. They are onto the plot, just not onto the freaks.

  10. Terrorists seem to be set to blow planes out of the air and/or poison passenger/crews, or some freaky shit. All flights from UK to US have been banned and tagged code level 'red'. I would try to boat to France then fly the hell out.

Dont know what this all means, but figured I would give yall a heads up.

    MERCK get on it!!!! :)

SPECIAL ADVISORY: UK THREAT LEVEL RAISED TO “CRITICAL”

SIGNIFICANT RISK FOR BOMBS ON AIRCRAFTS ENTERING THE US

ELEVATED ALERT FOR ALL COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT

10 August 2006; 0445 am ET: In an unprecedented upward move, “at 2:00 a.m. this morning the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre raised the U.K. threat state to its highest level – critical," stated Britain's Home Secretary John Reid. The heightened alert was in response to intelligence officials in the UK thwarting an Islamic terrorist plot to blow up as many as 20 aircraft in flight between the United States and the United Kingdom, using explosives smuggled in hand luggage. The "critical" level means authorities believed a terrorist attack or attacks were “imminent.”

Within the last 18 hours, police and intelligence officials in the UK arrested about 20 individuals in and around London, stemming from a major covert counterterrorism operation that has been in progress over the last several months. The investigation reportedly involved suspects in at least two other European countries, as well as suspects or person of interest inside the U.S. and Canada. According to US intelligence sources close to the Northeast Intelligence Network, the investigation is expected to expand "well beyond the UK," and described the threat to the US as "just the tip of the iceberg and very significant." The international investigation “is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.” Information provided to this agency suggests that Islamic terrorists had active and operational plans to smuggle bomb materials and/or explosive liquid/foam substances onto various international flights originating from the UK destined for the US. The plot suggested that terrorists also had plans to detonate bombs aboard aircraft with the specific intent to crash the aircraft into structures inside the US. According to UK officials, the plot “involved mass murder on an unimaginable scale.”

At present and based on the best and most recent information, all liquids in carry-on luggage are PROHIBITED. If traveling, commercial air passengers are being advised to carry on to the aircraft ONLY the BARE NECESSITIES, and carry those items in a CLEAR PLASTIC BAG. Such items may include your wallet (with proper ID, glasses, and any necessary medication with the proper prescription.

The following is the current color-coded threat level:

*****ALL FLIGHTS FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM: Threat Level RED (SEVERE), or “CRITICAL (UK),” suggesting attack “imminent”

****ALL OTHER DOMESTIC and INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS (HIGH –ORANGE)

****ALL REGULAR DOMESTIC FLIGHTS - (HIGH –ORANGE)

The background information and the overall basis for this threat is contained in the information below, which has been excerpted from the last two-(2) HQ INTEL-ALERT Private Intelligence Report newsletters. Please review the information below.

  11. I lost an antuque American Indian bracelet in a bar brawl after this scumbag grabbed my wife in the crotch. I found it the next day in between the bathrooms, right where I dropped the freak. I bet someone grabbed his bracelet that was staying in a room at the hotel that night.

  12. It would appear to me Axl lost weight from burning 50k calories and sweating 1lb per sweat at every show. He is also 44 which means he is health wise now.

As for low blood sugar, yea that happens to diabetics but also happens to athelets. Especially athletes that need to make weight. Excessive workouts, skipping meals = low blood sugar. Having a long night out also adds to this, which is exactly what happened to me a few weeks ago. Gatoraid fixes this problem pretty quick.

Low blood pressure is something people are born with and most people wish they had. Sleeping aids can add to low pressure a little but not as much as exhaustion.

Sounds to me like the boss needed a few extra days off and a few good meals. Now that he's back in the states im sure he will remedy.

BTW, good thing he is keen to these symptoms now because excessive low blood sugar = death.

  13. Hmmm, well this must be southern arenas and northern indoor arenas. Guitar players cant play in the cold and more than 1/2 of arenas are outdoor. Odd time to tour. Usually bands write music in fall/early winter, practice tunes late winter, hit studio in spring, tour summer.

I really hope they have at least one or two HOT tunes in there to hook the common fans. That will guarantee packed arenas. Hope it works out.

  14. ok, ill take a stab.

Come back, do nothing for two weeks. Axl, picks a place in NY to buy a house (not too far from Merck and Sterling). Axl does some shopping for the house, then they have a meeting. They pick 8-10 songs that are all finished, and maybe, hopefully, record 2-3 new ones. While mastering is taking place, Merck announces a release/tour date.

...well, sounds good on paper..:/.. :xmassrudolph:

  15. Cool vid. Thanks.

Shit, there are so many ways to play lead that I guess it's what makes you happy...??

Ron shreds most of his leads like Richie Kotzen, Greg Howe, and Vai on ocassion. Robin is going after notes that tell a story like David Gilmour, Alex Lifeson or Michael Schenker. Guys like Van Halen or Macalpine use a mix of the two styles. In my opinion, neither way is better or worse, only different. Ron entertains with his mastering of the entire fingerboard while Robin entertains with making his guitar talk.

by the way, that hat Ron has on deserves a 10 out of 10 for sure :)

  16. Im 44 yo. Been playing guitar for 38 years. Keyboards for 20. I started by playing Chuck Berry, then rolled to Aerosmith and Zepplin. Throughout the 70s and 80s all I played / wrote was metal rock. The thought of anything else ment instant vomit...until, I really listened to Rush and Zeps keyboard work. Always liked Edgar Winter's 'Frankenstien', so before I knew it I flipped over. Instead of writing everything with guitars first I started with synths first. When crystal method came out, I freaked. All I did was play synths for most of the 90s. Then I said, WTF? Im a guitar player! Metal, Techno, Metal with a ton of Jazz and classical thrown in there but then I came to my senses. Now I cant get enough of old school rock and I will die with a guitar in my hands.

Almost all musicians taste and styles change over the years. Its fun. I think Axl will go back to what he loves and is best at pretty soon if not all ready. The master rock singer. Heck, he's doing it all ready! :) I think a reunion has a high probability, as long as they are all wise and strong enough to block all the bad memoires and fights. If not, they wont be able to write. Its kind of like going back out with your ex-wife or something, and personally, I would rather burn in hell. Maybe they could use doctor Ruth as a baby sitter or something - lol

Now that they are all grown up and mostly dope free, they just may be able to pull it off. The only band I ever see do it sucessfully was Aerosmith. With Alder they could easily do another AOD. Axl doesnt owe the new dudes anything. They've been paid well, got great experience and fame.

I give it a 50/50 chance. May the force be with them.

  17. I'm afraid the only people that would be upset if a reunion happened would be Almost Famous, A_D, Funeral, and Stephen Adler. As opposed to the millions that would be in total bliss. Sorry guys, the reunion is inevitable.

    C.W.K.

I agree. A reunion wouldnt be a reunion without the REAL drummer Stephen Adler.

Ive seen them once with the original line up in Saratoga NY (88). All time great show.
