  1. I havent been here in a long time and something as just clicked with me to drop by.

Thank you Eric for your efforts, your assertion is correct this is and always was the best fan forum.

I wish you and others all the best.

    Take care.

    Eoghan

  2. Just signed up there as I couldn't believe what I was reading.

    People blaming the Irish fans?

Irish fans and Dublin audiences are some of the best in the world, we give 110% at every gig.

Check out the last two shows at Dublin's O2 on YouTube.

RATM, Pearl Jam, Kiss, Green Day etc, view any of the footage and you'll see that we don't treat bands like that ever.

When was the last time you heard of an Irish crowd throwing things at a band?

You would be hard pushed to find a more generous and responsive crowd than you would in Ireland.

Axl is an asshole plain and simple.

It's always somebody else's fault with the guy.

At Reading it was the event management and police, always something or someone else, never him.

I was at that gig, I adore everything GnR, since I was a kid, I'm 37 now.

I seen Slash here a few months back at Vicar St, Duff / Loaded atThe Academy and Velvet the year before at The Ambassador, all sheer class and all total fcuking professionals.

Slash indeed, showed up TOO early and joined us in the bar, he then preformed for two hours, giving a performance like he was a teenager again preforming in front of record company execs.

He could have been excused for going back to his hotel room then, but he didn't, he spent the next 90 minutes signing autographs.

Danko finished at 9pm sharp, now we all know Axl's form, so nobody was really expecting the guy to turn up at 9.15pm (the time ALL main acts appear at the O2, without exception) and so the atmosphere was great, as always.

However, the O2 has a STRICT 11pm curfew, always has (even when it used to be The Point Depot).

This is not because Harry Crosbie (the owner) wants it that way, he could not give a fcuk if bands played until 5am, but its has to be 11pm for transportation reasons.

Lots of multi stories lock up at midnight and your car is then in lock down till 8am if you don't collect it, last trains and buses are at 11.30pm.

If you live in Dublin like myself, no big deal - but if you are after driving for four hours to see the concert, your basically on the streets for the night.

So, long story short - the curfew is there for a reason, we all know about it in Ireland and EVERY band is made aware of that also.

Pearl Jam were victims of it a few months back, here is a video of where the house lights went on at the end of Alive to signal the show was over and they were not to preform any more songs.

They did however preform one more and it was done with the house lights on, Eddie then staged somewhat of a mock sit-in, sparked up a cig and opened a bottle of wine, here is some footage of thatt:

Okay, so now picture the scene, it's 10pm and everyone has been standing there for one hour waiting for Axl, Dublin's a small place and everyone was getting texts saying the guy hadn't left the Four Seasons.

People starting booing the stage at that point.

So when he (I say he, as I don't think the other band members would do this crap to their fans) didn't show up for yet another half hour, the crowd were understandably irate.

90 minutes is a fair old time to be standing there after the support, especially with the curfew in place.

Everyone was thinking, 'there is only a half hour left, wtf is going on?'

So, on they storm to boos, Axl cocky as fcuk as if we shouldn't care he is so late, that was disrespectful to 14,000 fans who just paid $100 to see you.

    He could have said:

"Hello Dublin, sorry we're late, looks like we'll be here till after midnight"

That would have settled the crowd, but he never addressed them once.

    It's was highly disrespectful.

Let me clear up a few things at this point.

No GLASS bottles were thrown at him or the stage.

The O2 does not sell or allow glass on the premises.

They sell plastic pints and very soft plastic containers that look like bottles, they are not.

One of the plastic pints was flung threw the air, here is the pic:

    gnrplasticpint.jpg

He gave a warning at that point, but he looked pissed off from the moment he appeared on stage.

I would say without question that there was rows before that gig about the curfew and why they were late.

Anyway, a plastic bottle landed near him then, and off he went.

Houselights came on and almost half the crowd left as it was 11.10pm.

When he came back on at 11.36 (the rest of the time reports are bulls**t, they played till 12.52, Axl stood at the back beside the drumkit and did not move other than to walk off a dozen or so times when he wasn't singing.

He did not interact with the crowd that had stayed and sang and danced to every song.

He acted like a spoiled brat, just look at the end of PC:

Look, people can make excuses for him, but there comes a time when you have to admit that the guy is an attention seeking prima donna, who has no respect for his fans.

He does not deserve the talent he undoubtedly has.

Please don't blame the Dublin crowd guys, maybe they were the first to show this guy that he needs to start having some fcuking respect for the people that have made him a multi millionaire.

Money doesn't come easy to people these days and $100 is a good chunk of cash for people and he should show some a little appreciation to people that spend their hard earned on him and just try and show up to gigs somewhat closer to the time that he is contracted to.

I'm done with the guy now, I wouldn't give him a cent of my money again.

The band were amazing by the way and the crowd adored them for it.

While Axl was at the back of the stage, the crowd were cheered and applauded for everything they did, in fact the band regularly applauded the reactions from the crowd.

They leaned out over the crowd many times also and not once did they get anything throw at them, why would they.

You could see Axl watching all this from behind and he did not look pleased, it was obvious that people blamed him and not them.

People knew who was to blame there that night.

Anyway, to finish up on a lighter note, here is how you handle plastic bottles been thrown at you

    Bang on!

Could not have said it better

  3. Lol at the Irish, stupid drunk fakkups! A pimple on Europe's face!

    Reported.

    +1

It was funny during KOHD when Axl made the gesture to Tommy to cut out the crowd participation bit - the old open hand across the neck gesture. Tommy nodded and laughed understandably and Axl smiled back at him.

    Hes a small small man

I'm amazed how a crowds response to a performer has provoked such racist responses from some people

How far are people willing to let themselves down for a man who A) doesn't give a remote shit about them and B ) they dont know and are likely never to meet

its the charasmatic dictator routine in action

or is it that this board has become populated with children since i left it?

  4. The smirnoff ice bottles were actually plastic bottles (I held one); they just looked like the glass bottles.

    Oh really????

Shit yeah they certainly looked glass, well then is all this fuss over a plastic bottle???? :(

Again not that I approve of anyone throwing anything Plastic or Otherwise - But come on???

He wanted to go from the start - and that was the perfect excuse!!!

Well the bottle I held was plastic. I cannot say that all bottles were (e.g. the heineken bottles).

However I cannot see a venue like that allowing any glass bottles in. If someone from a seating area

threw a glass bottle into the crowd it would kill someone. The guards and the o2 would know that.

    it was all plastic man

  5. Today, pretty much all nations are multi-cultural.

If one were to be racist against a nation as you say is possible, you would essentially be acting on yourself, as there is an almost 100% chance there are people sharing your own culture/history/language etc.. living in that country.

True and that's why racists are idiots.

    Major idiots, I agree.

Possible to be racist against a nation... no.

Many, many years ago it would have been possible to make a racist statement against a nation, as there were virtually no immigrants. Everyone living in a country would be the same race and share their history.

    Bit off topic :xmassrudolph:

    off topic definitely

    but nation refers to culture

your mixing it up with state

you can have a multi culturual state

you cant have a multi cultural nation

hence the phrase nation state refering to a homogenous state

    on topic

    axl sulk helped

it means he was able to sing

  6. I Concur with the post above,

The one way to stop this is to Just stop throwing shit -

    stupid jobless irish twats

The great thing about racism is, it tells you, almost immediately, the capacity of the person your talking to...

Jesus, the Irish aren't a "race". People reporting this post need to stop being so hypersensitive.

racism applies to nations not just colour

in any case the comment was offensive

  7. Funny thing is that, last night with Axl standing still, you got what most frontmen give you. It's only because Axl usually gives it his absolute all that people are complaining.

His singing was drastically improved when standing still, I was at the RDS show and it his voice wasnt great, and at the begining of this gig it wasnt great either

but when he went on the sulk because he realised the crowd weren't in anyway blinkered and not willing to be made wait for 1hr and half and that he had no other

option but to play (I presume someone in MCD mentioned Prince to him), his voice wasnt under duress from having to run everywhere.

I quite enjoy the show last night, including his little strop, its what I expect from the man to be highly talented though deeply flawed and insecure individual...I saw one of my

heros at his best, both good and bad

Someone should tell bumblefoot to do the dont cry solo again thats masterful and Mr fortus solo was absolutely fantastic

  8. I'll be the dissenting voice in all of this universal praise - The album's average.

Certainly lightyears better than St. Anger, but the songs are still too long and meandering without actually building or going anywhere, the lyrics are mostly banal, and The Unforgiven III is just a pale shadow of the first two.

The album's fast, I'll give it that - And the solos rock. All in all, Death Magnetic has its moments... but anyone holding this up as a record on par with Ride/Master/Justice is deluding themselves.

    More or less my sentiments

except I think the solos are pretty lazy (the unforgiven 3 one misses a great opportunity to bounce of a nice twin lead melody)

the vocal lines are crap, tomorrow never comes is great musically but its like Hetifield had his head up some young ones vag again

while he was writing the lyrics for it, no content there whats so ever

That Was Just Your Life, The Judas Kiss, The Unforgiven III (which isnt close to the other two) and The Day That Never Comes are some good tracks the rest begins to sound very similar after a few listens

not a bad album but not a great one either

  9. My social life prevented me from pursuing a career in "hardcore gaming", so I actually quite enjoy Rockstar games,

haven't played Manhunt yet, did anyone play the Warriors at all, man its fecking deadly, just like the film class act!

  10. aww rite, sum shit hole down round here! wat age r yas? did ya hear megadeth are playin 10th june in the ambassador.....my fuckin leavin cert is on so i cant go! FUCK!!!!!!

You missed Rose and now your missing Mustane?

Some luck you got there, yeah Ill probably head to that, Ambassador is only around the corner,

the Rose show was alright, sound wasnt what I'd have hoped, how was mettalica?

  11. Axl and co were here last year, they played the RDS, fom the looks of things the present tour is aroung Asia/Africa and the Ocenic terrorities so its going to be a while before they come back.

    sorry kiddo

  12. I thought it was somewhat obvious that he was writing it to promote his upcoming book and why not?

Also madison, its a magazine article why would he feel it necessary to reference everything? I mean its not an academic journal, no bibliography is required.

  13. He does not impress me at all as a guitar player. I think Axl recruited him for his stage presense.

Even YOU must understand that Axl wouldent hire just an average guiatarplayer to Guns N' Roses.Eventough he doesent impress you doesent mean a shit

    Robin Finck

Fortus is a great player. My fav in the band right now.

saying Robin Finck is an avergae guitarplayer tells how little you know of guitarplaying

Do you know ANYTHING about guitar playing?!
