  1. Some of my favorites:

"I broke your fucking mold and threw away the cast" -Pantera

"My soul is wasting beneath my blissful haze" -Down

"How many times must I say I'm not sorry?

And how many ways can I show I don't care?" -Type O Negative

"Why would they tell me to please those that laugh in my face?" -GnR

  2. yeah, ok. Go read some interviews.

Edited to say: Prove what you are saying by using sources. I challenge you.

You'll find on your search, that you won't be able to. I know, because I have read every Pantera/Dime/Vinnie/Phil etc article, interview, ever done.

Stop talking out of your ass like an obsessed psychotic fan boy.

It kinda sad that you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about, try doing a little fuckin reading before you open you're mouth again.

Go read all the other interviews from the band members and Phil during that period, and you'll see.

Phil is one big walking contradiction.

    Show me just one

  5. Vinnie Paul is a piece of human shit. If anyone is to blame over the breakup of Pantera it is he, not Phil. Dime & Vinnie were ready to move on, which is why they stopped talking to Phil and didn't ever contact him when he was doing Superjoint and Down. We could argue about it all day, Dime & Vin were on one side and Rex & Phil on the other, it all depends on who you want to believe

    Get your facts straight.

Phil broke up Pantera. The Dime and Vinnie contacted Phil endlessly, trying to find out when they wanted to do Pantera again, and they were flat out ignored by Phil.

This is common knowledge, and I am surprised such a delusional fan boy like yourself doesn't know this.

No, get YOUR facts straight. The break up of Pantera is on Dime & Vinnie, they were ready to move on, which is why they DID NOT EVEN ONCE EVER call Phil OR Rex. Like I said before, it all depends on who you want to believe, Dime & Vinnie said they tried to contact Phil & Rex, while Phil & Rex insist they were never contacted at all. I believe Phil & Rex, they loved Pantera and would do anything and everything they could to keep the band going, and would have no reason to lie about anything. Dime & Vinnie didn't like Phil anymore and obviously were looking to start a band with a new lead singer, which is why they formed Damageplan, saying that they tried to contact Phil and were ignored would give them a legitimate excuse for breaking up Pantera, so they lied and said thats what happened. I think the most important person in all of this is Rex Brown. He was caught up in the middle of all this and what he says speaks volumes. He is not related to Dime or Vinnie so he wasn't obligated to go along with what they said, which is why he didn't cuz he knew that he and Phil were in fact not contacted at all. He knew the truth and thats why he made the right decision and sided with Phil and joined Down instead of joining the Abbott bros in Damageplan.

  6. Also whoever said he was "boring after he cut his hair", what the hell are you talking about?

Because after he cut his hair Pantera's music got shittier, just a coincidence. Also people who headbang with no hair look like tools, and Anselmo is no exception to that.

Not to be a pain in the balls but Phil was bald during the Vulgar/Far Beyond Driven years.

Exactly, and those were Panteras best years.

  7. If it wasnt for Phil theres a good chance Pantera would still be around today. Clearly they had some gas left in the tank too because Reinventing the Steel was a great album. He also used to lay down on the stage and sing "This Love" a lot, I remember on the Behind The Music Vinnie Paul called it "embarassing"

Also whoever said he was "boring after he cut his hair", what the hell are you talking about? What does that have to do with his voice or his stage presence? This isnt some hot topic band where they try to work on their image. This is freakin Pantera, Down and Superjoint ritual we're talking about

We could argue about it all day, Dime & Vin were on one side and Rex & Phil on the other, it all depends on who you want to believe. Phils drug abuse did slow him down a little in Pantera's final days, but keep in mind he was abusing alcohol & heroin to numb out his horrible back pain just so hed be able to go out and perform, it was either a drugged up Phil or no Phil at all. However he was outstanding during the "Use Once & Destroy" tour for Superjoint, and the subsequent Down tours, especially the latest "Over The Under" tour. He's sober again and is now as good as he ever was. And to the numbskull who said he got "boring after he cut his hair" wtf are u talkin about?? Panteras best 2 albums are Vulgar Display Of Power and Far Beyond Driven, where Phil had a skinhead haircut. The length of his hair is however completely meaningless because all of Phils discography is high quality, and "Over The Under" might be the best yet.

Are you saying that new Down album trumps all Pantera albums? Bold statement.

Down is a solid band, one of the best in metal today, but its tough to say they beat Pantera. You could argue that Vulgar is in the conversation of top 5-10 best metal albums of all time. I dont hear many say that about a Down album. Also given the climate that Pantera existed in, the grunge era of the 90s, they still managed to make unaplogetic and genuine metal. Then again to each their own

Either way this thread inspired me to bust out the 2nd Superjoint record which I havent listened to in about 3 years. So thanks for that

Im not saying they beat Pantera, Pantera and Down are like comparing apples to oranges. They are both excellent bands and 2 of my very favorites. If I had to choose one I would choose Pantera but only because they have a bigger catalog. Far Beyond Driven is one of my all time favorite albums, every song is amazing, but so is NOLA. I geuss Pantera had more success on the mainstream level but I think the quality of the material in both bands is absolutely incredible. 8 studio albums between the 2 and you can hardly say theres a single bad song. Theres something about the overall sound and feel of Down that I absolutely love. Songs like "Eyes Of The South", "Theres Something On My Side", & "N.O.D." just to name a few, are some of the best metal ive ever heard. But the same can be said about Far Beyond Driven and The Great Southern Trendkill, amazing songs from start to finish. I think the reason these bands are so great is Phil and his song writing. The guy is incredible, I just feel like he doesn't get the credit he deserves. But its good to hear somebody who apptrciates both bands, haha and your welcome, Lethal Dose is a killer record. "Deaththreat", "Waiting For The Turning Point", and "The Horror" are my favorites on that one. Gotta love SJR's hardcore thrash sound, some of the most aggressive stuff out there. rock3

  9. This guy is incredible, both live and on cd. His catalog is extensive and outstanding (Pantera, Superjoint Ritual, Down) and yet he is still very underrated and underappreciated IMO. When all is said and done this guy is gonna have an incredible career to look back on. His one of a kind voice is unique and like no other, and there are very few lead singers and energetic live and as passionate about there music as he. Ive thought about this alot and I strongly believe he is the greatest frontman of all time (even better than you know who). And Down right now is without a doubt the best Metal act going.

  10. Think about you was played at the last hammerstein show... so I know that was played.

Rocket Queen was played in NJ... so I know that was played

yea they played it at continental & i was there...it was awesome too!
