    1. Hanover 2017 (Overall best voice possible with GNR at the time + Thunderstorm + Angus Young with Lotta Rosie and Riff Raff + Pyros, big fireworks + a great crowd around me, alot of young dudes in they 20s enjoying)

    I fully agree!!!

Sitting around for 45 minutes not knowing if the show will resume or not. Talking to a bunch of people in the 20s about rock music during the break was fun too. It was a really great show.

Took us about 2 hours to get from the parking lot :) and three more to get home. Great memories…

  2. Maybe there weren't part of the online content back then and were only made available as additional stuff.

I know that I have made backup files and remember that the book pages were online as swf files. I should have them somewhere. Were quite interesting since you could open them as a normal double book page or if you uncompressed them, you would have all the different layers of that specific page, flyers, background image, inserted pics etc.

  3. I remember that there were stories that more files were released. But besides some weird corrupt files that were sent back and forth I never actually came across some legit files.

Maybe we will be able to get our hands on a complete list one day.

  4. I am now irritated.

I went back to my notes and I have slightly different infos noted back then (have to admit it was 2011 or so).

Slash wrote in his book (p. 97-98)
(...) sometime in early 1985, Axl and Tracii Guns started putting a band together; they brought Ole Bench (should be Beich) and Rob Gardner (...) in L.A. Guns. (...) Axl opted to change the name to Guns N' Roses for obvious reasons. (...) They did a few gigs, they wrote a few songs - in that order. (...) Izzy came in to give me a flyer for a Guns N' Roses show in Orange county. Somewhere along the line, Duff replaced Ole (...)

htgth.com lists at least two shows with Ole in the band.

Stephen Davis has the following written in his book "Watch You Bleed: The Saga of Guns N' Roses":
In March 1985, Axl and Izzy decided they had to work together again. Izzy persuaded The Troubadour to book a weeknight show for the new group. (...) Axl the stole Tracii Guns from his own band. They rehearsed with drummer Rob Gardner (...) and bassist Ole Beich. (...) The new band played the usual covers of Stones, Zeppelin, and Aerosmith (...) Nobody was really happy about this. Axl and Izzy knew they were now a team, but Tracii seemed less than comitted. They didn't think Ole had what they wanted in a bass player. (...) Then, in May 1985, the Guns N' Roses ad for a bass player in Music Connection was answered by Duff McKagan.

    EDIT:

Having listened to the Raz Cue interview posted on youtube I have to admit that the Stephen Davis infos in his book are wrong. In the interview they are clearly talking about early shows with Duff already in the band. At least for the April 85 shows in Radio City and Dancing Waters.

  5. This I Love was written in or before 1993 with Axl mentioning the title in 1993 RAW magazine interview.
(I wrote and recorded a new song that I want to have on the record called "This I Love.")

In 1998 the track was intended to end up on the soundtrack of the Robin Williams movie "What Dreams May Come".

In 2000 Howard Karp (an engineer) recorded the song with Axl.
(I only worked with Axl, no one else, it was a solo piano piece. I heard nothing else. Axl was cool, two short evenings, nothing too eventful.)

In 2007 (maybe even late 2006) Patti Hood recorded her parts for the song.

  6. Great work zombux!!!

Here some additional info on "Shadow Of Your Love":

    Quote

Slash (summer '85): We rehearsed every day, working up songs that we knew and liked from one another's bands, like "Move To The City" and "Reckless Life", which were written by some version or another of Hollywood Rose. [...] After three nights we had a fully realized set that also included "Don't Cry" and "Shadow Of Your Love" [...] we decided that after three rehearsals, we were ready for a tour.

Slash: We did one session with [Mike Clink] and recorded "Shadow Of Your Love", which was the best song in the set the first time I saw Hollywood Rose. Our version of it didn't make the album, but it was eventually released on a Japanese EP.

Both quotes are taken from Slash's book. It shows that their memories aren't always right since the Clink version of the song made it on AFD 2018.

It would be awesome to have a website with these infos gathered in one place. Like a timeline or stuff. I have a ton of song info from back in the days when GnRSource.com was running. Maybe (if input is needed and wanted) I can help out.

I received my Locked N' Loaded box set yesterday. I'm having trouble with the USB that was included. I loaded the songs to my Mac last night with no trouble. Today at work, I loaded them to my work computer but the audio from Disc 1, Appetite remaster, is the only one that will play. Anyone else experiencing issues?

I assume that you are working with a Windows based computer at work.

Unfortunately sometimes I experience these problems myself. Switching the same USB from one system to the other one only worked when the USB is formatted in MS-DOS FAT format. That way it worked on both systems without problems.

A second possibility could be that the USB wasn't pulled out correctly. Since you have the files on your Mac try copying them back (after checking the format of the USB) and then try it again. I can check my USB this weekend.

Hope you will get it sorted out.

I got mine charged with 10 EUR, while my friend was told 20 was the minimum. (I was told 5 EUR was the minimum.) Half of the people working there didn't seem to have a clue about what was going on, from parkings to outside the venue to drinks and food. Cool card though. It's at least something now we don't get GNR cups :P

Yes, weird indeed. I only heard of the 20 Euro charge. I have to admit that parking was way better organized than last year in Hannover, at least where I found a place. 5 Euro was the parking fee. But I have to agree with the drinks. Took hell of a time to get some and you had to discuss that the cup was half empty.

Epic show. Epic voice. Just phenomenal overall. People were blown away last night. I was there with my family who saw it for the first time and they were fucking blown away.

of course some the mygnr people will tell you it sucked, but hey. Thats life. Haha

Been there too. And I have to agree.

Some minor issues with the echo but it is because of the venue. Have that problem there every time.

And the GNR card (cash replacement) is a great thing to have ;)

    What time did it finish?

Saw a bit of it when it re-started on youtube and looked great having it in the dark.  That was my only criticism in London really, it just doesn't have the same intensity in broad daylight

The band started at 8:31 pm (scheduled time was 8:15 pm but was pushed back a little so people still outside of the venue could get in)

Then the show was stopped at 8:42 pm and resumed at 10:20 pm, Paradise City ended at 1:09 am

And yes, it was a bit more fun in the dark, not only because of the video walls being more visible but overall it was a better feeling or intensity or whatever someone will call it.

I saw Axl Rose with Ac/DC and i saw Axl Rose with GN'R..  The concert with AC/DC was awesome and the concert with GN'R was not awesome!! I did not mention any videos on YouTube. I even still not watched any YouTube Video about Hannover. I compare both gigs that i saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears. AC/DC was awesome and GN'R not.

The Youtube comment was not directed at you, but to those who sit on their ass at home and try to judge a show by listening to those clips.

Like I already said, I feel sorry for you for not having as much fun as I had in Hannover. Nobody can take your impression away - that's a fact. Just like nobody can take mine away. That's all.

Like many others said: a special show, a special night!

Met a lot of great people that night

I was there, Front row in the beginning. Sorry but it was a worst concert. The voice was awful. I can compare because i saw Axl/DC in Leipzig 2016.  Axl's voice went through my mouth to the anus. It vibrated in my stomach in 2016 with his raspy voice.. but this gig was not good.

But anyways i saw Duff and Slash. Slash is the winner.

but with Axls bad performance, It's not worth 160 euros !!!

First of all: each to their own

I was there too and can't disagree more.

There were some difficulties like "Coma" but compared to old live recordings of the song it ain't like he nailed that bitch-to-sing in the 90s ;)

youtube clips can't transport the live experience at all and even different clips of the same song don't sound the same.

    To sum it up:

the show was f'n great, the band was awsome (incl. Axl's voice) and even the 100 minutes break didn't cut the fun off.

I am truly sorry that you didn't enjoy the show as much as I and many others did
