  1. Classic Rock Revelation 'Rubbish'

    Written by Administrator

    Friday, 31 March 2006

    Classic Rock magazine have claimed that;

"Axl attempted to re-unite the band with Slash, Duff, Izzy and Matt Sorum, for 2 shows in the UK one at Download Festival and one at Hammersmith, both would be filmed for a DVD and Live CD and all members would make millions each, all parties were interested in this reunion, but before they could sign on the dotted line, one of the members lawyers noticed in the fine print that it said by agreeing to these terms and conditions the rights and back catalogue of Guns N' Roses would go to Axl Rose, this halted all negotiations however rumours have still flied, we won't know what's happened until Download itself arrives"

Sanctuary have described the claims as "a load of rubbish".

  2. I think this is just bullshit until we get confirmation. A rumor is just that, nothing else and nothing more. We being GN'R fans would love to see this happens, so he can re-join Axl and Co. for what we all hope is the second coming of world domination by GN'R.

All that being said...I think this highly probable. How many weeks has it been without Slash responding to Axl's comments? It's clear to me that some (not all) of the things in Axl's comments were true. My guess is Weiland's inability to act like an adult and release his stupid response made things worse.

I guess the only thing we can do know is wait. Wait for an official announcment about this being true or false. Wait to see who shows-up to re-place Buckethead at Rock-in-Rio.

If there is one thing we Gunners are good at...it's waiting.

  3. I wonder just how recent this picture was taken? According to the website of the guy who broke this story, they were recording at a guy's recording studio owned by Ed Ackerson. His place is located in Minnesotta (where the Replacements are from). Josh Freese is currently on tour with NIN and according to their tour schedule, the last time they were in Minnesotta was October 11th, 2005!

  4. Release date on a Saturday? Not likely, they want the most bang as possible when they drop this announcement. Besides, wouldn't this cause a huge amount of confusion and skepticism? I guess I would beleive it if they went through all the right channels, including something on their official website.

  5. I agree, you can't play 4 new songs in a row and expect the crowd to go crazy. As we've talked about before at great length on this forum, one fo the downfalls to the 2002 tour was the fact they were not promoting a NEW ALBUM!

If we are lucky enough to get CD before they tour, then the non diehard fans will hopefully have a cluse what the new material sounds like.

  6. GUNNERS: WHY SO WEIRD?

    Hi Keith,

I've been a fan of Guns N' Roses for a long time. Even now, throughout all the weird changes and crazy rumors, I'm still wondering what will Guns N' Roses Version 2.0 sound like if/when "Chinese Democracy" comes out.

Over the past few weeks more and more confirmations from European promoters have GN'R as a headliner at music festivals this summer. To date, there are approximately 18 dates lined-up. You can view these dates by going to a fans' Web site elsewhere.

Yet, if you go to the band's official Web site (gnronline.com), you'll see absolutely nothing! As a fan, this seems to be misleading, causes confusion and seems just plain stupid on behalf of the GN'R management.

My question(s): Why would the band have an official Web site with absolutely no information on it and why wouldn't they make some kind of an announcement?

    Sincerely,

    Ben Carver

    Richmond, Va.

    Hi Ben,

It's amazing that there is still interest in Guns N' Roses after all these years, isn't it? I'm eager to hear what "Chinese Democracy" will sound like too, even though it's been a very long 15 years since the band's last studio album.

The Axl Rose-led act is indeed slated to perform at a bunch of European music festivals this summer including Lisbon's Rock In Rio on May 27.

Why would Guns N' Roses' official Web site not say anything about these shows? It's likely that there is a very specific game plan in mind when it comes to publicizing the new album and tour -- and right now, an updated official Web site isn't part of the plan. It may sound unorthodox -- but then again, this is Guns N' Roses (and Axl Rose) we're talking about.

For what it's worth, "Chinese Democracy" doesn't have a release date yet, though one would imagine it could finally see the light of day this year... maybe.

  7. Just wondering with all the talk of how this album cost $13 Million Dollars to make, does anyone know if Axl has his own recording studio?

It seems to me that if he does, assuming some of the recording was done at his home, the album wouldn't have cost that much to make?

Plus, I read that U2 gets an advance of $15 Million everytime they make a new album. Isn't possible, that this $13 Million dollar amount is what Axl commanded for the making of "Chinese Democracy"?

    Your thoughts...

  8. I appreciate the picture of James Blunt but still don't know who he is? I guess I'm just uncool.

However, I agree that if he is still in NYC then it's good news for us. I have no sources but from what I've read on different GN'R forums, the consensus is that more time in NYC = Chinese Democracy being finalized and actually released!

  9. Just sent George Marino's prject Manager an email. I have n't hear back anything yet but I promise to post an answer (if any).

    My Email:

    Ms. Despres,

I don't want to take-up a lot of your time so I will get straight to the point. I, along with many other fans, have been made aware that a highly anticipated album that has been in the works 10 years is very close to being released.

Can you confirm either with a simple YES or NO if Mr. George Marino has recently or is currently Mastering Guns N' Roses "Chinese Democracy" Album?

    Thank you for your time.

  10. Did I make the mistake of believing what Slash said in numerous different interviews? Yes.

Do I believe all the rumours I hear about GN'R? Hell no.

However, I do believe that Axl is in that "finishing" stage of CD. There is no other reason for him to be so public and be in NYC so much. I did some searching onlie today and seems like most MASTRERING of albums do occur in NYC and that it usually takes about 8-10 hours for one album. However, that changes based on the complexity of the song and how many tracks are being released.

My hopes are high and I beleive the album will be out in May 2006!

  11. I was just reading some of the topics posted over the weekend and it got me thinking. Do you suppose Axl will attend the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony tonight? It's at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC. He clearly has not been camera shy either in airports, The Soprano's premiere and no stranger to the club scene. What do guys and gals think?

  12. I know I read somewhere on this forum that everyone in the band was under a gag order for 3 or 4 weeks. Didn't this happen the same time as Axl's B-day bash in NYC? If so, shouldn't the gag order be over and some new information like a release date be coming any day, month, year?

Totally separate question: Has anyone figured out why NIN has that stupid Chinese Democracy sign in their picture from Toledo, OH?

  13. Let's for the sake of argument and debate say the 3-disc set of 'Chinese Democracy' is true. What do you think it will be like?

    Here is my prediction:

    Disc-1

Hard, fast, gritty and dirty like A.F.D.

    Disc-2

Use Your Illusion type music akin to November Rain, Estranged, Coma, etc.

    Disc-3

Totally new sounding material of Bucket, NIN, and GN'R roled into one.

  14. According to their MYSPACE website, they are suppose to be playing a song Dizzy Reed composed for a movie that's coming out soon called "The Still Life". Maybe this will lead up to the Axl interview?

  15. Internet Pirates Foil Chinese Democracy

    February 23, 2006

Axl Rose may have been out of the limelight for a long time, but that doesn't mean he's immune to a major-label artist's most feared pitfall: having an album leak onto the Internet.

Three studio tracks from Chinese Democracy, the long-awaited new Guns N' Roses album, made their way onto several websites this week. Despite the efforts of Rose's manager, Merck Mercuriadis, to have the links removed, some tracks have been added into rotation at radio stations such as WAAF in Boston, which has been regularly spinning "IRS." The other leaked tracks are "Better" and "There Was a Time."

Keyboard player Dizzy Reed's wife, Lisa, took to the Internet herself to ask fans not to leak anymore tracks, offering a poetic metaphor: "It's like shaking all our Christmas presents on the 23rd of December and figuring out what they are." We don't know how Reed's family celebrates Christmas, but for most people on earth, there are 24 hours between December 23 and Christmas Eve, not ten years.

Here's hoping we find the aural equivalent of a new bike under the Chinese tree, and not any tube socks.

  16. I noticed at the end of MTV's article it was written by Chris Harris? Who the hell is that? It was my understanding that Axl and Kurt Loder did all the articles/interviews. etc. for all things GN'R related at MTV? Maybe the reason Merck was so tight-lipped about everything wasn't because the album isn't ready and he wants to keep us on 'pins and needles' but because he was thinking to himself, "Who the fuck is Chris Harris and why is he calling me? Where is my assistant Tina?"

  17. I think someone earlier said they believed that it was leaked internally, like from the label, on purporse?

I don't believe it was leaked on purpose because, all of the radio stations have received the cease and desist orders.

I think the person who has leaked this material however is very close to the GN'R camp or has been working in the productin of CD.

  18. This may sound lame but here is what I think...

This song was originally leaked in poor quality.

Now that is done, it was leaked intentionally so we could hear it for real.

Coincidentally, for those of us who pay Uncle Sam. This is tax season.

It is a great marketing and buzz-generating ploy for the album, by the label

All us true die-hard fans finally get rewarded for the years of patiently waiting.

    Chinese Democracy Starts Now!

  19. This wasn't under the FAQ's so can someone clear this up for me?

I know GN'R were signed to Geffen Records way, way back.

I know recently, Axl inked a deal with Sanctuary for alot of money.

When Chinese Democracy does come out, will it be a Sanctuary Release or will Geffen still be a part of the picture?

  20. Hey guys and gals! I'm new here to the forum but a long time fan of GN'R like everyone. Here is what I've been thinking.

I believe that Slash knows the right people to know if 'the powers that be' have heard a completed album. What I find hard to believe is that it would be out in March? I mean, it's been my experience that when a new album is going to be released there is a lot press and marketing blitz done, especially if it's something as big as this. It seems more likely that the announcement would come in March and the release two or three months later. Most of the time, the first 'single' gets sent out to the radio stations for airplay for a couple of months before the release.

The other thing is I didn't know if anyone has tried to contact club STEREO in New York? I would think they could put to rest once and for all if Axl was there and he did in fact play a completed album? I would think they would want to boast and brag about this, if it was true?

Just my thoughts but I can't wait for its release, whenever it happens!

    Peace out!
