  1. Why drop all the new songs? Well done axl you could have started a new era for guns n' roses instead your just turning into kiss and playing a greatest hits/appetite setlist

Totally agree! The show on the 12th at least had a handful of new stuff...last night's wasn't much different from the '02 tour...there is no reason to be playing Live And Let Die & Out Ta Get Me anymore...hell, in my opinion you could drop KOHD & Nightrain too....give us some new tunes or at least songs that weren't played 4 years ago like Civil War, Estranged, Yesterdays, etc.....and if it's true about Axl's voice already, then this could be a very short tour again

  2. I wish Axl/Merck/Sanctuary/Geffen would release some sort of statement giving us some solid news about what's going on. We pay their salaries, it's the least they could do.

Don't think that the leaks were intentional for slash and others to hear, I think they are from disgruntled people around Axl who can't help noticing how terribly he tends to treat his fans - walking out of shows, last minute cancellations, 10-year recording projects ... they were bound to leak. I am still pissed that a dj at some strip bar in NYC got a listen before fans - tell me that isn't insulting. <_<

    Well said!

  3. After hearing the leaked songs, I believe Axl still needs to hire another keyboardist and guitarist. Not sure if he has enough.

He needs to fire dizzy and hire a good keyboard player.

    no he doesn't.

    Yes, he does. :P

    no he doesn't

I was being sarcastic with Axl needing more musicians! As much as I think the new songs sound impressive, why does he need 7 guys standing around to play OMG and CD? Not to mention anything pre '93. Two keyboardists + Axl on piano (what band more than one)? Three quitarists (Damn, Slash really must have been the best)? Might as well get a couple drummers like Skynard or maybe that violinist from Dave Matthews is available? Maybe Brian Setzer could loan a couple horn players?

What ever happened to just 5 gritty guys pounding out the Rock that made us love them in the first place? Losing Adler due to his playing conditions I understood, but as soon as Izzy split I got worried their future. Now we've had at least 9 other musicians leave or been dismissed since the UYI tour. Axl is still a great singer and showman and I'll go see him or purchase anything he puts out, but he has made a mockery out of the GNR name since with his "I'll put out shit when I want to" attitude. Guys like Izzy, Slash & Duff wanted to play, play, play and dance a little with Brownstone and that's why we all got off on their music. You expected to see Slash fucked up on stage. Believe me when I say that nobody would care about these new guys (as a band) if it wasn't for the old guys.

  4. We shouldn't mix the songs played live by the band with leaked tracks. That's a very different matter.

    exactly

I agree with both of you guys. My thread was meant more for everyone saying that they don't want to be disappointed in hearing the songs in their unfinished state before the cd comes out. We have heard songs before the cds many times before. My comment about Axl leaking was meant that he has teased us with unreleased songs in the past and made us wait quite awhile to own them.

  5. After reading the Lisa Reed "December 23rd" comment and many other postings by people who don't want to hear "too much" of the new material before it is remastered forget that we heard half of both UYI albums before they came out. This was 16 years ago before the internet was even around.

    Consider this:

There are 30 songs between both albums. As for me personally, I heard the following months or years before they were tweaked and remastered:

Right Next Door To Hell: Heard live on the spring/summer '91 tour

    Dust N Bones: '91 tour

Live And Let Die: '91 tour (not to mention knowing the song through Paul McCartney)

Don't Cry: Heard in '87 at their Cleveland gig and on numerous early bootlegs

    Bad Obsession: '91 tour

Back Off Bitch: On numerous bootleg and demo lps

    Double Talkin Jive: '91 tour

November Rain: '91 tour & many early bootlegs

    Coma: '91 tour

Civil War: '91 tour and the benefit album that it was first released on

    14 Years: '91 tour

Knockin On Heaven's Door: '87 & '91 tours along with Ritz video & many bootlegs

    Estranged: '91 tour

You Could Be Mine: '91 tour and Terminator 2 soundtrack

That's 14 songs! You probably shouldn't count the alternative version of Don't Cry or My World (not the whole band playing), so over half of both albums were heard before they came out. In fact, when I saw them in Cleveland in '87 they also played Patience, You're Crazy" (acoustic) & "Used To Love Her" a year before "Lies" came out! I'm sure that people in LA got to hear much of AFD before it came out.

The bottom line seems to be clear that Axl has always "leaked" his songs way before they were mass released. Now we have the internet to find them with.I don't think this hurts the integrity of the tunes at all and it definately doesn't hurt future album sales. All it does is give us fans a chance to hear music evolve from ideas to demos to finished product. So for me personally what does it hurt to have a little "Appetizer For Destruction" every now and then!

  6. Wow! I know it's everyone's opinion, but I'm shocked by some of the songs mentioned because they are some of my faves...ex. Locomotive (this song ROCKS! one of those rare songs that I wish would never end), 14 Years & Dust N Bones (they both really show off how important Izzy was to the band), Breakdown (I always thought this was one of the most underrated by them...would have been cool to hear live!) and to also see YAT1st & Bad Apples listed so many times also causes me to scratch my head

Here's how I would list the "skipped" songs for each album:

LLAS: Reckless Life....I think Shadow Of Your Love should have been on this instead

AFD: Out Ta Get Me (I'm sure I'll get feedback for this 1...song's okay, I just don't think it has that special something like the other 11)

LIES: 1 in a 1,000,000 (does nothing for me)

UYI1: Back Off Bitch (they could have left this in the archives and recorded Dust In The Wind or Just Another Sunday instead)

UYI2: Too easy to list My World so I'll go with Shotgun Blues with BITR right behind it

TSI: New Rose & the "hidden track"

New Stuff: Has to be Silkworms and B&R

Okay, now it's your turn to rip me apart...lol
