  1. Slash is one of the best, most soulful guitarist. Making him one of the Best ever . But w/ Myles Kennedy he's like a NASCAR motor/ Engine in a Prius. . Myles is talented, but he is a rebound singer. Alterbridge: a revison of an already not so great band. .....Creed. Then he somehow works with Slash, and listening to him sing GNR songs .................or anything else ...uck. At least Scott Weiland had his own material and was legit in covering GNR songs. Weiland was not the singer Mr Rose is, but he was Rock N Roll enough to sing for a guitarist like Slasher. That is what I've always loved about Rock N Roll: YOU must be talented, but your attitude is just as important as your skill. Just being good, isnt enough . YOu have to be real. Just my opinion, but I know what I'm sayin'. Ya know what I'm sayin?

Take care of your self and Take care of each other. Independence America!

................Illusions are yours and not mine.

  2. I like how the nuthugger mods are locking threads/deleting negative posts while the band is imploding,

You're not Jarmo - let it go.

Because just since you think the band is "imploding" doesn't mean everyone else does, nor do they want to read about it.

Believe it or not, people are still interested and enjoy Guns N' Roses and the new band, "new" setlist or not, and they don't want to read all of the bitching and complaining constantly. Some people just want to come into a show thread and see the setlists, some pictures and some videos. People shouldn't have to sift through 30+ pages because 20 of them are made up of people bitching about the name of the fucking tour or because the band played Knockin' On Heaven's Door for 11 minutes instead of 10.

You can't understand how people still care? Others can't understand why people still give enough of a shit to complain and bitch in 90% of their posts in this section.

I'm not saying people who don't care anymore should not post here - there has to be some sort of difference in opinions. But, if all you do is bitch after each show and performance that shows up, what are you providing to the forum besides another post someone has to scroll over that has no input?[/quote I]

I agree. Well said. Quit crying so much about how Rose looks, the set list and whatever else. Nobody promised you anything and the solution is So Easy. .......stop going to the shows and following this band.

Going to a show and then getting on this forum to bitch about your experience there is really fucking ga.y

  3. It saddens me that every single thread in this forum turns into a flame war. To quote some guy that just passed away "Can't we all just get along?". This place would be way better without all the constant fighting. Let's all talk about our favorite band without jumping at each other's throats all the time.

I agree fully........there's a lot of bitchin and bitches on this forum. Relax and have fun..

  4. - Guns: release Chinese Democracy in 2008

Metallica: release Death Magnetic in 2008 earlier in the year BEFORE Chinese

    - Guns: tour in support of Chinese Democracy since 2009 with a break in 2011 before US tour

    - Metallica: have toured virtually endlessly since 2008

    - Guns: fans are pushing for Axl and the band to release the next album now.

Metallica: they are nowhere near ready to release their next album and have only begun to write.

    - Guns: fans complain no new songs are being played

Metallica: play all the old hits. This past weekend at the Orion festival ZERO Death Magnetic songs were played

I just don't understand the GNR fans logic with this double standard

Comparing the two bands is not fair to Metaliica because they are 2 different things entirely. Metaliica is very commercial now and Guns is not. Everyone and their Mom is a Metallica fan now. They are not very creative anymore and haven't done anything great since And Justice For All. Guns on the other hand is by no means commercial and does everything on their terms. They have some great material and the fact that its not appealling to the masses only proves how good it is.

I'm actually glad that things turned out the way they did in terms of CDemocracy success and popularity. It's "their" loss.

Metaliica is kinda like the Wal-Mart of Metal. Guns is like a botique where you buy USA made quality......just my opinion.

  5. How out of shape Axl is? This is not a "Pick on Axl thread". I'm truly concerned. Looking at the Philly vids, I noticed how considerably large his stomach is. He's constantly out of breath. I was shocked to see the vid of Axl apologising to the Philly fans, not because he was apologising, but the way he looked. He seems to be having fun, but I'm worried. This isn't good for his health. Am I the only one noticing this shit. I think Axl may be the biggest I've ever seen him. If he's out of shape it'll be hard for him to fight off illnesses aka, bronchitis. To top it all off, Ron looks like he's went twelve rounds with Mike Tyson. I know the touring just started, but I think they need to take a step back and get healthy. Especially Ron. My father has a chronic back disease and he can hardly walk some days Ron needs to fix himself. He doesn't need to be standing for three plus hours holding a twenty pound guitar around his spine. I say, get healthy. Hit the R&R HOF hard. Then tour.

    thoughts?

so anyway..dont worry about it. Thats a really cool picture in your sig. I like the lightning effects etc. Focus on the music. Listen to Chinese D on 180 gram Vinyl on a good stereo and that is something worth discussing. He's whatever yrs old and doing 3 hour shows all --year n --all over the world. Try and sing some of those songs beginning to end and its a very intersting subject. If most singers sang like him and say Brian Johnson, they would eventually be out of breath too. Oh well whatever ----Nevermind.

  6. GNRFan isn't totally off his rocker.

For a lot of young musicians, even rock musicians, GNR like never happened. History stopped at Led Zepplin/Floyd, and re-started again with Pearl Jam/Nirvana.

None of the dozens and dozens of commercial music majors in the college I work with ever talk highly of Guns N' Roses. It's "haha, guns n' roses".

    Edit: And it's their loss.

Thats crazy! The 80s had some great metal bands. NIkki Sixx and Crue are killer. Umm...Ozzy & Randy Rhodes. Rest in Peace. NOT Bon Jovi though.....

People made fun of me in 1993 for liking GNR.....I don't give a fuck I like the music and it makes me happy and a better human being.

I actually like the fact that some people dislike Guns or dont know how good the many different versions of the band were. It emphasizes that it is excellent-original- and extrordinary rock music. Its not surprising, if you look at the new music that does sell today. There are some good artists, but most of its not great and alot is boring. You know who you are....

  7. On thing to remember is that a good percentage of the people at these shows today are total posers. A lot of them are just there to see Axl sing SCOM and Jungle have no clue about who is in the band etc. Which is fine, but not good for those of us who like to be crazy at a show. The Phoenix show was fvckin kick a$$ but pretty mellow crowd. I know I annoyed a few people who thought they were at a poison show. Another point is that a lot of fans that would totally rock out can't or won't pay $70 - $100 for a ticket. My first GNR show was in 1986 and it was $ 16.50 and I was in the front row. Rock music in general has changed and so have the live shows. I doubt we will ever recapture the aggressivenesss in the crowds that were once the standard, but I hope I'm wrong.

  8. Yea. I can't believe the Guns songs Myles covers w Slash. It's painful to watch. and his range is very limited. Not trying to bash, but don't sing Guns songs like that!

I've always respected Axl for being original and how hard he works while singing. Just trying to sing along in the car is difficult on a lot of songs. Nobody sings like Axl! At his worst he's more fun to watch than alot of artists.

  9. I'm hearing that some of the cancelled venues wouldn't allow GNR to play past local curfew and it's standard procedure for an updated schedule/agenda to be submitted to venue management a few days prior. If the venue manager decides to be an asshole or feels the late start or fines to be "risky" and not in good business thinking the shows clearly could be cancelled. Remember all workers at these venues are paid hourly and some venues see conflict with employee scheduling as a negative also. Remember these venues exist to make money.

its funny cause alot of people have a hard time understanding he likes to go on late, play late, and is probably a late nighter. If there are local curfew rules -make it a 21 and over show and call it good. WHat is up with that any way?? Curfew ..are we in CHina or what?

He's not going to go on at 8. I hate that. Saw Tool not too long ago and they went on at 9 pm sharp and it was kinda cheesy and seeemed like a scripted concert. This is still Rock and Roll and Metal show. There should be a couple of opening bands --Maybe Loaded-

DID I mention I have kickass seats for the DEC 27th show!!!!???

  10. Didn't anyone ever get the memo? You don't wear a band shirt of the band you're going to see live. I've never seen more egregious offenders than at the Guns show in Chicago.

Going to the Phx show..I was just thinking of wearing my GNR shirt from a 1986 concert at Clebrity Theatre. It has the banned album cover on the front, and Guns N Roses was here on the back. I Sat in the 3rd row w/ my sis. The band was about 2 or 3 hours late, but when you're 16, and me....that was expected and made it cooler. It meant we stayed out til 2 am. Unbelieveable show w/ Adler on drums, Izzy, and of course the other 3 dudes. There was probably not anyone over 30 at those shows because it was a new band. Now in 2011, their original fanbase is around 40..not saying they dont have young fans. But I am saying there are some older rockers at a GNR show who probably dont care about the "You don't wear a band shirt of the band you're going to see live" rule at this point w/ GNR. Metallicas early shows - every person in the place would have someting metallica on. So maybe thats what we are missing. In some ways, I do see your point though. Imangine wearing say-- a Muse shirt to one of thier shows?? Then maybe the rule might............

    Rock on F#$%ers!!

  11. Why do I have a feeling that this show is going to be canceled due to production issues? I just don't see Comerica as being big enough for this show. I have really bad feelings about this and this would be the second their show has been canceled in Phoenix. God I hope I'm proven wrong.

Its funny you say that! I was just thinking that today after getting my tickets. I have SEC 4 ROW 30 for Phoenix . Anyway.... Last time Guns was here (phoenix) was in 1992 w/ Faith No More and Metallica. I had tickets in 2002 for the Vegas show and they cancelled. I thought about that today and then saw the Dec 5th show cancelled. I'm just sayin.........it went like this last time in 2002 too. I'm totally kidding....but not really.

  12. I will be attending the Phoenix show and hopefully the LA show. Anyone know of a presale for the Phoenix show? They go on sale on Dec 7th. I'm a gunsnroses.com member and i never get anything from them.

Whats the best way to get floor tickets? I saw them several times from '86 til their final tour in 93. Then bought tix for the Vegas show in 2002 and the show was cancelled so I have to go!

Isnt Robin Finck coming back soon?

  13. Vince: You'd get your ass kicked by Rose. Its a fact and you should be glad he didn't take you up on it.

Tommy: You're a fag. A great drummer, but a fag.

Nikki Sixx: Well said. I hate to say it, but he's right. He knows Rose, so you have to realize his comments are not meant to be nice. how many guys do you know that say nice shit to eachother.

  15. I am sure this is just speculation and rumor.  This would not happen .  CC would not ask Axl for money back if they were loosing money.  They know they wouldn't get a dime and thats silly to even think that could have happened.  If they were loosing money on the tour then they could have pulled it ,  but I'm sure this isn't the first time CC lost money on a tour and thats not the way promoters would handle it.   It happens  and  they maybe were looking for a reason to pull the plug and they found it.  Whatever that is.  There's much more to this story that we probably will never know.

    Facts

    ghsqb,

You do bring up some interesting points , but I can tell you why there has been nothing said with one word....

LIABILITY.  I can assure you that Clear Chode will try to bring a lawsuit against  Guns and if Guns were to  say anything it would dammage their defense.  Clear Channel and the venues lost millions in this cancellation and there will be many lawsuits.  It's always best to say nothing in this situation and I'm sure Mr. Rose would like to address it , but he can't right now.  If he has learned anything over the years he would definitely have learned about how to handle lawsuits.  I know he's not someone to hold back what he wants to say , but when it comes to a large corp. trying to file suit for millions in damages against you that may change the way you handle things.

Hopefully we can get this settled quickly , but its doubtful.  I just want the f#cking tour dammit!!!!

  16. I was born in 71 so I was in High School in the later part of the 80s and I can tell you that is was much different .  I first saw GNR in '85 and they were very different.  They went by Hollywood Rose, and Drunk Fuxx  and a few other names  back then. They had a few band members (Traci Gunns) replaced and became GNR.    Very glam , but very , very good.  Back then they did not play any ballads.  It was all very raw metal /punk ....and some other styles.

They were struggling back then so they were just regular guys playing at a Rock n Roll bar.  Listen to LIVE LIKE A SUICIDE and that will give a  real good idea of what they were like.  Then ,  they started opening for major acts like Aerosmith.  Saw that one  in '86-87 and they stole the show from Aerosmith. Aerosmith was great,  but Guns N' Roses was just taking off and they put on unbelievable concerts.  No pyrotechs. or things like that.  Just raw energy, aggression and a serious attitude that said , F#CK OFF and we dont care what you think about us.   Appetite For Destruction finally took off about late '88 and they were no longer just a band from LA. It was about '88 and '89 where they started appealing to the masses.  I think Sweet Child O' Mine did it for the girls and the pissed off aggression is what made everybody else like them.  I don't know for sure but thats my reason.   Alot of people hated them too, but thats what made it cool.  Everybody had their opinions about Guns, especially W. Axl Rose.   He has always been the one in the spotlight ...even back then.   At tihis point they were still the aggressive five member band that recorded Appetite.  Alot of people did not like them now that I think about it.  Then , Steven Adler left and was replaced with Sorum.  Izzy Stradlin left and was replaced with Gilbly Clark.  Dizzy Reed came in at this time too.  Use Your Illusion came out it 91 and they had a much different look and some of the songs were ballads.   Their appearance is now changing from Leather and snakeskin to .........well I don't know what to call it but it was different.   The music was still very good and they released two albums and they were on top of the music scene again.  I then watched them tour with Metallica and Faith No More in 1992.  Big mistake I thought.  Metallica was pissed because they played 2nd and Guns was the headliner.   There were huge productions back then with Metallica and Guns playing the same stage.   A few years later The Spaghetti Incident was released and then the band broke up shortly after that.   Now you have a way different group and a very different Axl Rose.  I do like the new line up however.  I have been a fan of Robin Fink since he started with Trent Reznor w/NIN.  I've met him and Trent and they are both very down to earth.  Never heard of Buckethead though and the rest of the guys seem really good.  Tommy Stinson is very fun to watch play and Brain is a excellent drummer.  I bought tickets to see them at Mandalay Bay on Dec. 28th.  On the floor in about the 10th row Section 1.

Nobody is more dissapointed than me about this cancellation , but you can't be mad at Guns N' Roses or even Axl as so many people are.  We will never know what really happened and at least they came and played some very impressive shows at Madison Sq. Garden and some others.  I have learned over the years that you must  be patient if you want to see this band and if you cant understand that then maybe buy tickets to a more reliable band 'cause this Axl Rose is not someone to bet the farm on as many people have done who post here.   Never has been.  I'm just glad they are back and I can assure you this is not the last tour they'll go on.  And they might screw the next one up too,  but it's always interesting and thats what this is all about .  Entertainment......
