They're so inspired by the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains but for all the wrong reasons, sort of like STP, but alot worse.
It's embarrassing that Jerry Cantrell has actually played with these guys.
I'd classify their music as corporate commercial generic teenie pop rock...or something like that and comparing them to GNR is just insulting!

"Stare at me with empty eyes and point your words at me
mirror on the wall will show you what you're scared to see"
and from the same song
"All this time I swore I'd never be like my old man
what the hell it's time to face exactly who I am"
- Alice in Chains
"For all of your kisses turned to spit in my face
for all that reminds me which is my place
for all of the times when you made me disappear
this time I'm sure you will know that I'm here
I know I'm headed for the bottom
but I'm riding you all the way"
- Soundgarden
"Show me the power child, I'd like to say
That I'm down on my knees today
It gives me the butterflies, gives me away
Till I'm up on my feet again
I'm feeling outshined"
and from the same song
"I'm feeling that I'm sober
Even though I'm drinking
I can't get any lower
Still I feel I'm sinking"
- Soundgarden

Soundgarden, Superunknown is a masterpiece rivaled only by Led Zep's Physical Graffiti, The Beatle's Sgt. Pepper and Floyd's Dark Side of the moon. Listening to that album, even to this day, is just something else and every time it just takes a hold of me and doesn´t let go.
only my opinion though, feel free to disagree

Considering that QOTSA breakthrough album (Rated R) was released in 2000 I'd choose them as my favorite new band since 2000. Songs for the deaf is an underrated masterpiece, haven't heard a better album this decade.

I just have a hard time believing that Axl is just some innocent bystander in everything and I hope he reads this. Axl paints this picture that Slash is some egotistical control freak while he just sat back and watched everything happen, and then Slash got fed up and left. That everything that ever happened negatively with the band was someone else's doing.
I don't think we're ever going to get the REAL truth.
I would agree with that although none of us are in a position to pass a judgment on this whole fiasco cause none of us were there. But based on Slash's book and Axl's comments on here alot of people have been lied to and from both camps, but I still find it kind of sad that men in their 40's cant reconcile or at least talk to each other over the last 14 years to at least clear the air.
Oh, and Axl, could you give us your side of the story on what happened at the 1992 MTV music video awards, Krist Novoselic wrote an interesting blog about that here: http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/dailyweekly...d_at_the_19.php any comments? :xmasssanta:
Which was the best band of this decade?
