the first 4 lines are like really good, the rest needs work though...

I don´t see the connection between better and that song. Honestly,

it´s more like RedHotChilliPeppers meets Metal.....

ya know dudes, I must say I´m like a 20... ´cus I can like cover ALL slash´s stuff, ALL vai´s stuff and ALL vaughn´s stuff.... and they are all great!! so I must be even better than them right?

strangest things can happen when Axl´s mouth starts slappn

I find it interesting that he actually took time to understand music,

developing himself as a true artist and musician rather than sitting on his ass

and make the same sounding records.

The old band proved to make it through 4 records.

But it seemed like they failed with the 5th. Personally I think they should´ve

gone for a harder appetite, with more 90ies influences. And not the street talk.

It would´ve been good, and then come out with a slower record like CD.

Slash could and should handle the solos on the tracks heard. I think Fincks

talent and take on modern music would influence Slash and build him up with

a more modern sound. Could be he never wanted to.

But I know Duff and Matt would... Izzy is kinda freakish tho

a fuckn Live DVD shit or something, one or two old songs in pro shot, or a new one.

It's been a few month's but now that there is actually something concrete to discuss instead of mere speculation, I thought I would drop my two cents in about the leaked material. I've listened to the material all day long and here is my initial response:

14 years and the most expensive album ever for this? These songs are good, very different from GNR of old, but nothing earth shattering here or even revolutionary. Let's break them down by song:

I.R.S.: Cool song, but what happened here? It had so much energy before but now it is all gone. I like the way the words make more sense now, but it needs more UMPH to it. When the beginning starts in, I have this image of Pokemon and Barney holding hands running through a field.

T.W.A.T. : Most disappointing of them all. I really expected so much from this song as it has been tauted for such a long time as a hit by those that have heard it, but man, it's a sporadic mess. It's too chaotic, the music is going in 5 different directions at the same time. Too much layering of music ontop of music. Listen to it again, Axl gets so lost in all of the music fighting for attention. Nothing memorable here. After hearing it 10 times, I still can't recall a memorable line or solo worthy of Guns N Roses.

Better: No pun intended, but this is much Better than the other two. It's different, but it works. Axl's voice sounds the best and the refrain at the beginning and middle is very unique and cool. Best track of the three, by far. However, so far from what GNR of old, that this can not be the first single.

After hearing all of the new material numerous times, I hate to say it, but I am worried that Chinese Democracy is not going to live up to expectations, not even close. Nothing so far has even come close to the epics from GNR's hayday. Even songs that weren't singles like Civil War, Locomotive, Breakdown, Dead Horse are better than anything Axl has been able to come up with by himself. While some of us on here will convince ourselves everything Axl does is genius, I am really worried that old GNR fans are going to HATE this new incarnation. Hate is a strong word, but when you replace all the original members of the biggest band of the 80's/90s and make people wait 14 years for a song like TWAT, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

My only hope is that Axl has some Jungle, some Paradise City, some ace up his sleeve that he is hiding until the album comes out. But deep down inside I feel this is it, this is the mythical album we've all built up so much and it doesn't come close to my expectations at all.

THE LAST BIGGEST PROBLEM OF THE NEW MATERIAL: GUITAR SOLOS!

To say Slash's absence is killing this new band is an understatement. None of these new solos do anything for me...They just come and go on the songs, but nothing is soulful the way Slash's solos used to be. I am very worried for Axl, very worried.

And I think it´s been HEAVILY produced since those tapes were cut

Yeah, cos 2,000 or so geeks on the internet (Plus me) listening to it and a few two bob radio stations playing iRS are going to make the world stop spinning.

Give up on that photo please you fool. The songs are not from a single, they are demos not clinically produced mastered songs that would be on a single.

TWAT in particular could be 10 years old. Who knows what the band have done in the past few years to the song and to the release plans.

It's called common courtesy and respect for an artist and his music.

It was one thing for one track to be leaked. In my opinion, one track can create a buzz around a band and an album. But three tracks? That's just mean-spirited and disrespectful.

We're thinking of Axl here -- and the years it has taken him to put these songs together. If you can't understand that, then you're not a fan.

First of all, I´d like to clarify one thing, Scott and Slash aren´t getting along to well.

2. The whole thing about Axl hating Slash and vice versa is alot of media crap,

Axl hasn´t bad mouthed Slash, yeah he said that those old guys never wanted to

make the slow songs. So what, it might aswell be a fact. But that doesn´t mean

anything. Any band has a certain chemistry that needs an energy of strong individuals.

Or you wouldn´t have a band, a band can´t work well if everybody´s sitting

and watching the lead singer/frontman do all the work. NOT EVEN ZEPPELIN!!

ppl seem to jump the gun when it comes to accusing one or the other for shit that never happend,

or make a bird out a feather, come one, only jesus could do that.

and time is a healer... that´s all we know.

If slash truly admires Axl´s work that might be the key why they split up in the first place.

Izzy will be back if he wants to, remember he is Axl´s best friend, or was.

With Matt I don´t see he really had anything to say in the firstplace.

And whatever Matt said was probably errected by Axl´s need of getting out the sound that he wanted.

the worst thing you can do is get a 1000 dollar guitar and a 100 dollar amp

or vice versa.

You should try to go on ebay and find a decent gibson les paul or SG.

even consider tokai or orville. They´ll be pretty close and better than the epiphones.

Then go to your local guitar shop and find a good amp, try out the different models.

and then get a used one from ebay:)

it´ll save you a shitload of money and until you start gigging and making some money off of it,

then you should be able to afford a kickass LP and a huge marshall stack
