  1. I am still not at all convinced this is Axl Rose writing these pieces.

I am simply amazed that Axl Rose is fully literate with internet slang (such as 'j/k'), and uses emoticons!! Next thing he will have a sig eh??

More interestingly, I am suprised somebody of his intelligence finds it difficult to write coherent sentences with the use of grammar.

If it is him, I do feel genuine sorry for the guy. What was once without shadow of a doubt my 'dont give a fuck' idol, is now nothing more than a hermit with an extremely big grudge against anybody that wouldnt follow his totalitarian quest for finding himself within music. What makes music any different from other situations? A brands popularity is based on its product. You cant change the ingredients of that brand, and still expect to produce the same product.

Imagine if GNR decided to tour, and put on two shows per venue. One show was dedicated to old GNR material, and one to new. Which would be more popular?

Chinese Democracy is a good album, but my no means the pinnacle of what GNR stands for in most peoples eyes. Its nice to see a lot of people have embraced it as their pinnacle of GNR music, however it is truly a tiny fraction of people compared to the impact of the old Guns movement.

It is honourable to try to continue something special, but sometimes there comes a point where you have to call time. It parrallel's to me GNR being a heavyweight boxer, trying desperately to reclaim his title. And then getting knocked out in the first round by a modern fighter with a different style. Sometimes things should be just left where they are, and not have the name tarnished by squeezing out every last penny.

Move down a weight, change the name, by all means yes. It hurts most people that the brand is being associated with a product that the majority simply dont relate to.

But thats modern economics and human nature I guess. Desperate times invoke desperate measures.

First of all, Axl Rose isn't frozen in a time warp and therefore, apart from his not needing to, he isn't going to fulfill your expectations of how he should be behaving. If you expect him to, it is you who are stuck in time.

Secondly, Axl's reply on a very sensitive and personal topic, that has been the subject of much previous debate and examination, was not just eloquent, but very candid. If it were any more prepared, it wouldn't have come off as fresh and authentic as it did. That is also why it evokes such intense responses from both those who appreciate what he did and from the naysayers ( typical of the man, I think). If in this effort, he fell short of your expectations on the matter of sticking to proper punctuation and grammar, while taking the effort to respond to hundreds of questions from fans and forum members (with most of those questions lacking perfect grammatical structure in any case), maybe you should clarify what kind of image of Axl the Rock Star and Guns N' Roses the band, you really have. Since when did being a rock star (you seem to know a lot about that) require having to write in perfect English in a fan forum? Raw intelligence has nothing to do with knowledge. Axl may not be a Phd. in English, or a classical author, but he possesses intelligence in abundance and that fact is fully evident in not just his post, but also in the amazing lyrics that he has given us over the years.

Thirdly. the fact that you feel sorry for Axl because he is aware of commonly used chat/text lingo while at the same time calling him a hermit is contradictory and shows a gap in your logic.

Fourthly, your sympathy for your 'fuck you' idol would be at odds with any such kind of an attitude; in addition to being unwanted, out of place and just plain manufactured scorn, you have not provided any real reason why W. Axl Rose would need anyone's sympathy, much less yours.

Fifthly, did you say, 'a totilatarian quest for finding himself within music' ? There is much to say when it comes to proper use of grammar. There is also much to say for the proper use of words and style.

Sixthly, if you had actually read Axl's material, you would understand that his intentions are a world away from your scenario of 'changing the ingredients of a brand and still expecting the same product'. This detracts from the credibility of your entire post.

Seventhly, your hypothetical situation of two tours per venue, is just that. Hypothetical. The fact is, most of the time, bands mix up old and new material and many times are faced with audiences where some people don't react to new material. There are plently of forum members who have seen this band tour in '06 and '07 and rocked out to the new songs.

Finally, the rest of your post, though not much else of it is left, is mostly your opinion and you are entitled to it.

You just got ripped to pieces. I think it's fair to say that you just got owned Blunoze.

And just to add to your own grammatical mistakes...

Its nice to see a lot of people

    Not heard of the apostrophe?

More interestingly, I am suprised somebody of his intelligence finds it difficult to write coherent sentences with the use of grammar.

A spelling mistake in the same line you criticise someone else's grammar??? :rofl-lol:

  2. Axl responded to me on the CD.com forum, basically just asking him about if he'd play Newcastle again despite people throwing shit, this was his response:

That wouldn't stop us from playing there again. And the whole throwing shit sucks and is pretty cowardly but the leaving I got at Donnington from Lemmy. When we 1st played :confused:Donnington I was so happy I had knocked a bottle of piss out of the air when Lemmy gave me a lecture how if another band got hurt because I allowed people to throw things at our shows I'd be responsible for other bands getting hurt. Whether real or there's an argument against that, I've never been able to have anything override that in my head, not even a riot and I don't know why.

If you're working hard and some cunt throws something so he can tell his buddies I don't see where it's worth it.

:D If he does come back I'll be there in the front row!

  3. This thread is ridiculous. Just a few off the top of my head...

Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy

Iron Maiden - all their albums

    Killers - Hot Fuss

Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf, Era Vulgaris, Rated R

    Extreme - Saudades de Rock

    Metallica - Death Magnetic

    Gavin deGraw - Chariot

Plant and Krauss - Raising Sand

    Arctic Monkeys albums

Muse - Origins of sym, Absolution

    Ryan Adams - Gold

    Strokes - Is this it

    Pearl Jam (self-titled)

    Green Day - American Idiot

    VR - Contraband

And even then I'm only listing a very narrow selection of music.

  4. This is not the GH tour. Also I don't share your general views on how the new songs are received. I do believe that the members here have been very receptive of all six. This is most definately NOT the "greatest hits tour". You shouldn't be linking this tour to any record at this point imo. It's just a tour. Probably more CD-related. The're not going to tour for a compilation album that they didn't want 2 years after it's release.

How is the tour CD related when hardly any new songs are being played at the shows? I think in a way it is a "greatest hits tour" - it is getting the GNR name back into the music scene by playing their most popular songs, or what axl thinks is gnr's greatest songs.

  5. the show will be memorable regardless.. Axl always comes through when he shows up.

That is the key usually, however he wasn't so good at the VMAs, nor the 2002 tour - certainly not at his best (or anywhere near it). I agree the shows will likely be memorable, however not necessarily for the reasons you're thinking. Axl isn't the Axl of 1988 anymore, in fact, he's not the Axl of 1993 (when his voice was already slipping live).

All the facts say that he will not be able to sing live at the level expected of him...how long do you think he'll accept that?

The reason it will be memorable is because it is very likely he will be playing lots of the new tracks for the first time - and if what we have heard from the leaks are anything to go by, people will be amazed. I do not agree that his voice was slipping in 1993 as i thought that he sounded great that year. The reason that his voice was weaker at '02 shows would be because he hadn't sang live for so long. :P

  6. If Axl plans to release Chinese Democracy then he will do what all touring bands do, support the album while also playing the old songs that work live, thats how all bands do it. I promise you, you will never attend a GNR show without hearing DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE FUCK YOU ARE

    good post

Of course some old songs will be played but i think they should be limited to only a few songs. If CD is going to be like a 3CD album then i won't be satisfied with Axl playing only 10 or so from the new album.

Although old songs are great, we all (or a lot of us) have loads of live bootlegs of GNR tracks, both audio and video. Of course i am wanting to hear the likes of November Rain, Welcome To The Jungle, SCOM, Patience, RQ and It's So Easy but old songs should be limited a lot more than before.

  7. here's my explanation

Youll need to follow where im going with this so hang on.

Remember Sweet Child O' Mine, One of the best songs of all time, and you would think that EVERYONE likes this song right? but one of the bandmates was "not" into it yet and thought it was a waste but eventually he got it and it turned into a medly hit that will live on forever. Slashs favourite song is proberly lets guess it to be a song thats not better than SCOM, lets say "Out Ta Get Me" because of the high use of guitar riffs.

Imagine if AFD was a 12 year awaited album on the way and slash is the main dude and a couple of months before hint of release. in a interview slash mentions his favourite songs "Out Ta Get Me, Your Crazy & Rocket Queen", 2 Songs are leaked from which are what slash mentioned in his interview, Because of the long wait, people who hear it will like it no matter what because of their long wait when really it kinda sucks in their heart. A couple of decades later the CD is released, people hear slashs favourite and now its familiar, then they listen to the next track AND BOOM Sweet child o mine comes on. their mind is BLOWN Away. The Wait Is Over And Their Wishes Have Come True" Just because it was slash's favourite, it didnt mean it were the main songs for the CD.

just making a post and this is proberly the longest post ive ever done. and if someones got a gay joke to make, fuck off, i dont want any here.

sorry way too long to read....

    LP

I am going to KILL the next person who does this!!! Why post just to write that - a waste of my time :fuckyou:

Good post, by the way - what i was thinking. Better simply can't be the best song on the album, maybe it is Axl's favourite because it might have his best lyrics but it doesn't appeal to everyone. I believe that CD will be something very special and if Better is the best song - that will not be the case because i don't think it is that special.

  8. I think the surprise lineup is just the replacement for Buckethead - whoever it is will be a surprise to GNR fans as no one can guess who it is.

Howvever, i really hope it is Slash so i can laugh at all the 'experts' on this forum who are slating people for saying Slash will never re-unite :D

  9. Agreed, better is an attention getter, follow that up with one of the ballads.

i dont like better that much.

Thank you!!! Someone who finally agrees with me. I don't think better is that special.

I think it should be IRS as first single because that got a really good response when released on the radio. I think that they need to release a song that is similar to old GNR first to get a really good response from the public.

If not IRS then CITR. Not better - nearly everyone who isn't a proper GNR fan who i have shown it too doesn't like it that much... :(

  10. im happy VR may split soon because im disgusted with that band. how can you sing GNR songs without having axl on vocals?

    what about cover bands.

It's so easy by VR is amazing - althougn i wouldn't go as far as to say it is better than GNR live, i think it is close.

Also - most people regard Matt as an original now because he played the drums on over half of GNRs tracks ;)

  11. Skillage, anyone have the full list?

    I have the full list...but...too...much...to...type :P (i might do it later :D )

Fall to Pieces is like 52nd i think in the poll.

Also I'm not sure if this was in the first post but Since I don't Have You (by GNR) was Listed As the 2nd worst solo of all time. :fuckyou:

  12. Slash would make the new tunes so much better if he was to re-join GNR, but is that really going to happen? Why would he give up playing rock songs with VR to play tunes like Better and ballads that are bound to be on CD? Slash is doind what he wants at VR.

  13. who cares if slsah left vr it has nothign to do with gnr!!! Actually why is it in the gnr sections when hes in vr???????? Slash sucks and is not worthy of joing gnr again axl wont let it happen. or i hope he wouldnt

True this has nothing to do with GNR, but why do you say slash sucks when he is the best guitarist GNR have ever had. Why are you even on this forum if you think slash's guitar work is crap? :anger:
