  1. I went to the show in Everett on December 10 2006 with one of my good girl friends. We drove down from Vancouver, BC. I had never been to a GNR concert before. We had tried to go in 2002, but that is the one which the venue cancelled because though in flight from LA, Axl was not there at 7PM (probably about 5 hours before GNR was even due to take the stage) Sigh.

It was a small venue/crowd. I bet it peaked at around 3000 people. We had general admission floor seats and we were able to get really close, probably about 10 or 15 feet in front of center stage. We got pretty worn out from people trying to mosh/budge/push/fight during the opening acts, especially through Sebastian Bach, but there was no way we were going to move an inch from our near perfect spot for anybody.

There was quite a bit going on around us. A few feet in front of us, some lowlife hick, probably about 6 feet tall, in his 50's, complete with beer gut, smacked a girl, probably about 4'11, 110lbs in the face. Security didn't see and nobody kicked his ass, but he did it to himself. He was in front of us for a bit after, but he had done way too much blow or something. One minute he would be molesting his wife and wiping his sweat off in her hair, then he would be holding his vein popping head like he was going to have a stroke. Luckily his wife talked him into leaving. I still hope he had a stroke though!

Security tossed a few people for smoking cigerettes. The Everett Center does not have a place for smoking and does not allow re-entry. It was a long night for anyone who smokes, including myself, but I didn't want to risk getting tossed. There was a few people smoking herb around us. I would have partaken in one of the doobs being passed around, but it all smelled like cat piss or three month old roaches. Not worth the risk of being tossed!

Finally GNR took the stage at around 11:30PM and delivered and explosive (ha ha especially with the pyro!) performance. Axl looked and sounded top notch!

After a few sets, the inevitable happened. Our bladders were talking to us, and we were dehydrated and thirsty so we made our way out for a break during one of the solos. I didn't think we would be able to get back to our good spots, but by then all of the people who were acting like they could go all night had tired out, and we were able to walk right into a good place probably only another 10 feet behind where we were before.

We thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the performance. I thought Better, IRS and Madagascar all sounded great. I have heard The Blues from a lot of different shows and leaks, and this was perhaps the best I have ever heard it. I don't really care for Sebastian Bach, but I absolutely loved the My Michelle duet!

After Nighttrain, and Axl's "good night!", the lights went out and people started leaving. Nobody chanted "GUNS .... N .... ROSES .... GUNS N ... ROSES". Guilty as charged. I didn't either. I didn't want to be the first. For this reason, and the fact there was probably only 1500 people left, I am surprised the band even came back for the encore, but they did! THANKS GUYS!!!

I wish I had some pictures of videos from the show. Hell, even the opening acts where Bach was encouraging people to hold of their cell phones and take vids and pics. I didn't bring my camera-capable phone since I was paranoid about not being let in or being kicked out.

I would love to hear from other people who were at the show. PM me or drop me a message at stab@obscurity.org. Cheers!

  2. He has said that at a few different concerts

"I guess you could call this a reunion tour"

    ....

"...because i finally got enough peices of myself together to do this"

I don't think it means much.  It was just one of his recent jokes.  Hopefully he is ok wherever he is though.

  3. Ew.  Lets not compare Axl to Marilyn Manson anymore.  Axl is a real person with real issues which the songs occasionally reflect (see the Madagascar topic) Okay screw it, lets compare:

From what I understand Marilyn Manson's willingness to participate in attention-seeking self mutilation and present a satanic image is simply the product of intelligent marketting and lots of bucks rather than someone who has any realistic meaning.  The only GNR song that really didn't have meaning was "Used to love her"  - although I suspect meaning was intended, but for the sake image and continuing to get laid, Axl will deny that :)

I think the reason many of us like GNR was because each person had a realistic personality.  Some of us had a favorite band member because we could relate to that band member more than the others.

So on to a better arguement...

In a scrap... Axl or Eminem?  I pick Axl!  I think Axl would drop him within seconds.  He may be 40 but you can tell he is still badass and ready to go. I don't think Eminem has any experience outside of making movies.  Haha, let me know what you think :P

  4. yo. i voted for sweet child i will probably forget about the poll. gnrlines, can you post the results for sweet child (or any other high ranking gnr song) when its done? tnx

  5. My opinion:

Whether or not they are playing old or new songs does not really have much to do with the name.

The project can/will still play these songs... it just wont sound like the old gnr without Axl.

I dont believe the name carries much impact, because if the band was named "poo", people would still talk about it as "the new band with the screechy red haired guy from guns n roses that can still belt out those old tunes"

If the project was named guns n roses, people would listen and think "my god, axl is blonde and grew breasts" (if c. love was singing) and be disappointed

  6. OMFG, that was by far the most rediculous thing i have ever heard... EVER.  There was nothign in the contract, or Axl wouldn't be suing THEM.  They would be suing AXL.

I've been following this very closely because I am a long time GNR fan that got disappointed at the Vancouver no-go.

The only thing I have heard in regards to Axl sueing the venue is his statement on the KISW interview saying "we have a legal team looking into it" (this could mean we have a legal team looking to see if the venue has grounds to sue us) Is there any more news on this?

AFAIK clearchannel is supposed to take the bill, which is kinda bs. The venue manager (Harvey Jones) has proven that he is lacking knowledge in crowd mentality and shouldnt have anything to do with hosting events.

Maybe GNR can do a gig at BC Place in Vancouver after the album.  Although, the police (why do they have a say?) say that Vancouver will never have GNR again.  Not really sure if they would want to bother coming back anyway.  :(

  7. in my opinion she definately should have known she should give it back (and maybe she did know)

axl should have said something to indicate that he wanted the ring back via big-black-dood and not booted them out.  id be weary about giving my heros ring to someone he may be less likely to get it back from

    hail axl

  8. im looking for the boot as well. im on a 4mbit adsl connection and can set up an ftp server... if anyone with the boot could send an email to cengland_ca@hotmail.com i will reply back with the login info and i'll be sure to distro it around the forum. tnx =)
