  1. Completely off topic, but i don't give a shit :) just got home, am totally wasted. but my friends friend's boyfriend's friend (confused yet? haha) works for sanctuary and partied with Axl in LA and said he was the coolest f'ing guy in the world. he bought them all tons of shots and drinks and was really down to earth. I was begging my friends friend to ask her boyfriends friend about CD and the tour and what not and she said she would.....not holding my breath, but it was a funny convo how it all came about...we saw some chick in a GNR t-shirt and you could just tell she was a total poser, so i started yelling at her from across the bar and she hadn oclue what i was tlalking about. classic night out in NYC :) hahah

  2. Better is boring and is too much of a departure from classic GUNS to be accepted by the mainstream.

IRS is a better example of the old GNR sound with a touch of modern day music thrown in. Better is an avg song at best and the way the demo sounds right now, its a very confused song so to speak.

  3. not to sound like an ass, but whoever started this thread, you should probably get all your facts straight before you post something like that. We GNR fans are worse than Buffalo Bills, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox (pre 2004) fans combined.

No you have a legit gripe...that was pretty fucking stupid to post...how do you get something like that wrong? :fuckyou:

  4. I think this is legit. This isn't a GNR rumor from the band or an "insider" or some dipshit fan. This is a major radio station putting their rep out on the line.

I bet its just IRS though, man I hope its the first single and that the studio version is just 1,000,000 more times amazing then the demo. If you read into what he said "the kind we won't get sued for" you can assume hes talking about IRS right? I dont' know...shit I dont' care if its mary had a little lamb! hahah.

  5. the new songs can take a running jump!! no way are they anthemic in the slightest!!

I totally agree. How can anyone consider Madagascar an anthem?? :rofl-lol: Or any of the new stuff. Nothing we've heard even comes close to being an anthem. That doesn't mean its bad, its just not gonna catch on like the AFD hits. It doesn't seem like Axl is even aiming for any 'anthemic' music anyways. If he was, he would have pulled one out of his hat during the 2002 tour.

OK guys. But The Blues is a fantastic song, probably not an anthem, but better than NR or Estranged (which aren't bad). Axl is so good in the mid-tempos, ballads... though we still don't know if this band can give us some real kickass rock tunes like WTTJ, PC, Nightrain or YCBM.

You're telling me you honestly believe the Blues is better than November Rain and Estranged?

    Wow.. that's a bit of a stretch..

You can say that again. The Blues is a good tune but November Rain is a CLASSIC. And, in my opinion, Estranged is one of the best GNR songs ever. Its my personal fave (next to Jungle - which is my answer to the initial question).

Everyone is entitled to their opinions though....no right or wrong and answer. Unless you say "my world". haha :rofl-lol:

  6. Doesn't really surprise me. Todays music is pure SHIT. And todays rock? Jesus, don't even get me started. "modern" rock is totally dead thanks to Kobain and the grunge era. But if you're a 15 year old kid what are you gonna listen to? 50 cent songs? That shit gets old in two months. I don't think you'll ever have classic hip hop or classic rap. It becomes a joke in a few years. When people play old snoop dog and dr. dre you start laughing at how retarded it is. I mean that crap was called "gangsta rap". hahah. Say it out loud a few times and you'll know what I mean.

But classic rock just rules. The reason? BECAUSE ITS GOOD!!! In ten years is ANYONE going to care about nickelback or puddle of mudd or kid rock or staind or papa roach etc....Prob not. Why? BECAUSE THEY SUUUUUUUUUCK.

I love how all the black tshirts you see these days are from bands that came out 40-30 years ago.

Its a testmant to GNR's place in rock history that you still see the AFD cross tshirt in stores....you know you're eternal when your tshirt is still for sale and you haven't had a new album in over 15 years.

  7. Axl, as a lark, should issue a press release saying that Libertad, by VR, is going to be released on April 1st. And go on to say that, after all these years, he's interested in hearing Slash's idea of a "concept album".

    I'd laugh my ass off.

That is hysterical....I was literally laughing out loud. That'd be so funny. :rofl-lol:

I bet Slash probably heard something from a reputable source in the music biz, but like most CD rumors you never know whats true, whats a rumor, whats legit and whats a maybe. You have to blame these idiot reporters too...like someone else said before, the way this particular article is written it sounds like Slash is still in the band!!! They have Slash saying "and it sounds great". Something tells me he hasn't heard anymore of it then anyone else. This is just a terriblely written and researched article. The RS interivew was the same way...took a lot of Axl quotes and made their own conclusions from them, but made it sound like fact.

No way CD comes out in March....just not enough time.

  8. owe us anything? of course not

but to leave a million (or so) fans (that made him who he is) without updates- for years at a time- is certainly ethnically and morally wrong.

there's no laws against being an ass though. (thank god)

Man, if there were, I think I'd be in for life haha :)

All jokes aside, I'll stick to my guns (no pun intended) that Axl or anyone famous for that matter owes "the fans " JACK SHIT. You didn't sleep in rat infested rooms, you didn't F girls just so they would pay for your food, you didn't write the songs that MILLIONS of people can't help but like, LOVE in most cases. you didn't get abused by family members and suffer the torture and agony of such a horrible thing (if you did, I apologize, but I'm saying YOU in a metaphoric way :) ) None of us (I doubt) were CONSTANTLY portrayed in the media as a total asshole, a big mouth, a trouble maker, the "guy that ruined GNR"......I could go on and on and on. I don't blame Axl for being a recluse. 1-it has only made him larger then life--intentional or not, it was a great move (shit, we are all here talking about a guy who has maybe been seen in public 50 times in over a decade??) 2-He simply got TOO BIG. I don't know how old everyone here is on the board, but those of us who were old enough (and no, this isn't a I'm a bigger fan then you are statement) to remember JUST HOW BIG Gnr was when they were around in the late 80s/early 90s will remember how no member of the band could fart without the media being all over it. The closest comparison I can make today is the pathetic attention brad pitt and angelina jolie get from the press.

To conclude, why would a guy, who the media doesn't seem to be a fan of in recent times, ESPECIALLY when it comes to why gnr broke up and the release of CD, "report" to us fans when for a decade there probably HASN'T been much to report at all.

I'm sorry, I just don't think he owes us a damn thing. CD is HIS album, not yours or mine or anybodys. Charles Barkley DOES NOT have to be a role model for your kids. If Britney Spears and paris hilton want to be sluts and your daughter starts being a whore, its not their fault.....see what I'm saying.

I think us fans take it so hard b/c we are SO into the music and we so desperately want to hear a new album....but lets be honest: Axl or any GNR member, owes us nothing. Like I said before, if anything, we owe him (them). God, I REALLY can't fathom how different my life would be without AFD and some of the UYI songs like Estranged. Call me crazy, but yes, those songs have touched me in a very powerful way. And I can guess I'm not alone given the fanatical following GNR STILL has almost 20 years after AFD was released. I roll my eyes when people say "if i don't hear a release date by (insert date) I'm going to stop being a Guns n' roses fan!!". yeah...sure dude. hahah. Its those guys who will be camping out in tents in front of their local record stores days in advance when the release date for CD is finally announced.

Wow, sorry...talk about rambling :) Oh, one more thing...its def not "ethnically" wrong of him at all ;) haha sorry, I couldn't resist such a juicy typo! :) just kidding dude. I feel your frustration big time, but I think instead of being annoyed and calling him immoral and unethical, I tihnk we should be thanking Axl (and company) for giving us such awesome music and memories. When the time comes and you have that new CD in your hand, it'll be all worth it.......Just think of the day when you finally get to hear again:

    "....FROM HOLLYWOOD....GUNS N' FUCKING ROSES!!!!!" rock1 rock2

  9. What's the point in playing the album to a bunch of half cut strippers. Release this bitch already.

Thats a good point. If he doesnt make a release date announcement in the next couple months, us fans are gonna have to make some drastic choices. Boycotting all official products, boycotting all GNR online communities, etc. Like you said, there's no reason for a select group of people to hear it while his fans sit in forums for 10 years waiting. Its the ultimate slap in the face. I think we'll get it soon, but if not, its time for fans to take a different approach to this wait. The thing I fear the most about his reappearance is that its a ploy to increase sales of the GNR back catalogue. I think thats one of the reasons neither side has denied reunion rumours, because it helps sales of the old records. One of these "insiders" here should ask one of their many "contacts" how many albums AFD has sold since Axl's reappearance and the reunion rumours started. And where are Merck's statements in all of this?? You guys can ask him what Axl's favorite color is, and questions about bullshit S-p-l-a-t rumours, but nothing about what's going on now? That is fucking weird. Are the mygnr insiders now officially out of the loop??

I really doubt anyone on this forum or any other GNR forum is going to "boycott" any products...mainly because you've probably bought all of them already! what are you going to boycott?? THERE IS NOTHING NEW OUT! LOL!!! As for boycotting the communities? Admit it, you're addicted! ;) 2006 could come and go with no release date and you and most likely everyone else here would still be waiting.

Lastly, I think a slap in the face is exaggerating a bit. I personally don't think Axl gives a shit about the "online community". I don't think he gives a shit about anyone other then himself. And he shouldn't! Yeah, we are his fans, but he doesn't owe us anything. its his music, he gave it to you and me and everyone else. Its obviously touched your life to some degree or else there wouldn't be internet sites devoted to it - so if anything maybe we owe Axl and GNR!?!?!

I think your back catalouge theory is a little sily too. Its not like GNR need help selling their past records. they have consisantly sold throughout the last decade. And I don't think any member of the old GNR really needs money that bad. Do you really think a picture of Axl on the internet (not even major sites really) is going to boost sales? We are the people who have already bought all the music. I really don't think an 8 sentence blurb in the NY Post, a picture of Axl at a Korn party or rumor of a reuinion are going to make someone buy AFD if they don't already own it.
