  1. It's been a long time since I've read a statement that reeked so much of condescension and disdain for the fans. The problem with their litany of excuses is that Axl has a long record of missing shows for no reason and the fire marshals in this town don't have a history of screwing around with visiting bands, or else we'd have heard about it by now.

They didn't explain how it is possible that fans discussing the rollingstone article or the harley ad at HTGTH were spreading "chaos." That may be because their argument is utterly untenable and just a fig leaf of lies to cover their blatant censorship.

I'll buy CD when it is released, but I'm not going to waste my time driving to Iowa to see them live. The contemptuous attitude that prevails among these people is no longer overcome by the quality of the music. In short, they're really not worth my time and money anymore. This is what happens when you let you audience know that you don't give a shit. You're left with making up lies to cover up why you couldn't even sell half the tickets for a show. Good luck guys, I'll see you next year in Branson.

    Agreed.

Through all the shit over the years and the constant laughter we've endured as GN'R fans by skeptical "outsiders," any other band would be incredibly grateful to still find themselves with such an adamant fanbase. The fact that there is only one original member left in the band only adds to the wonder of GN'R - can you imagine ANY other '80s/'90s band sparking so much discussion years on?

And I didn't mind their cancellations and silence before, because hey, it was GN'R. But now I'm starting, for the first time ever, to feel like I don't even WANT to support this band anymore. They have shown such disdain for the Internet fans and made huge generalizations about the type of people "sitting in front of their computers." Axl himself has dissed the Internet numerous times, which I can understand, but to collectively label the Internet users as "pests" (as per Del James' article) or for Merck to try to give us a tongue-lashing for discussing a cancellation, is simply weak.

    They're taking us for granted.

If we all stopped posting tomorrow - everyone, on every GN'R forum - they'd realize quick just how vital the Internet fanbase has been for this band.

What promotion have they had so far for the album?

    None.

It's the Internet fanbase that's promoting the band with Internet postings, YouTube (fanmade clips and video/song uploads), etc., etc., etc.

Nice way to alienate the fans, Merck.

My question is, How are you any less of a fan if you're not going to the shows? Before you start telling people to "reconnect to reality," perhaps you'd better realize that people have responsibilities: families, jobs, financial issues, etc. We can't, at our leisure, drop everything and travel over vast terrain to make it to a GN'R show to sit for two hours waiting for them to show up. They won't even play in my state because last time they did there was a massive riot and Axl got into legal trouble. And what about fans in other portions of the world where GN'R has NEVER played?

In my humble opinion, they need to hire a new publicist who is appreciative of the vast fanbase. Other bands are highly grateful of the Internet users and do all types of special things for them. In my opinion we're spat upon more than any other band-fans and that's a damn shame, because NO true Guns N' Roses fan deserves the type of treatment they've been dishing out for the past number of years.

I thought their new website was - FINALLY - a step in the right direction, but that died quick after they promised us "exclusive video" to help get return visitors and then completely ditched it without a "Sorry" or any type of explanation for why it was never posted.

    I second that!

  2. What would be the best of the two Tuesdays to release Chinese Democracy based solely on competition.

What other bands might impact a successful Gunner Launch.

    Nov. 14th

    JAY-Z - REASONABLE DOUBT

KENNY G - I'M IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE ... THE MOST ROMANTIC MELODIES OF ALL TIME

    etc...

    Nov. 21st

    2Pac - Pac's Life

    AEROSMITH - CLASSICS LIVE

    DAUGHTRY - DAUGHTRY

    Jay-Z Kingdom Come

    OASIS - STOP THE CLOCKS

ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA - ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA

    etc...

Seems like there is less on the 14th. Check out these two links for more release dates...maybe you can find some that impact sales in the first week.

    Nov. 14th - http://www.newmusictipsheet.com/page.php?id=week2

    Nov. 21st - http://www.newmusictipsheet.com/page.php?id=week3

  3. How come they didn't post the entire message on the official site???? Cause they actually believe that the people on boards are different people than the rest of gunner fans who visit the site. That's how misdirected they are.

  4. the GnR camp is just fueling more posts. maybe that's what they want...they can't be that simple minded.

The have to be. They can't show any weakness, otherwise the world wins.

How do they define weakness then? Cause I think this makes them look weaker by responding this way. Here's what I think they should have said -

"I think these boards are awesome and therefore we want to participate in the dialogue...here's our point of view..."

The problem with what they did was that they try to come from a point of authority, when in reality...they have none over this.

  5. I have figured out Kaneda.

Check out what Wikipedia says about Kaneda.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotaro_Kaneda_%28Akira%29

    "Personality

Kaneda is brave, independent, and defiant of the law and adult authority. He is rebellious, disobedient, uncooperative and tries to show off in everything he does. He is known to act before thinking things out fully, and he pays for this several times. The organizer and leader of a bike gang called the Capsules, he attends reform school in Neo-Tokyo and is perceived by his fellow students as more than a little egotistical."

    Ya that fits.

  6. This board rules, the other one sucks cause they won't let us say what we want...

the GnR camp needs to mature to modern days...

I bet we'll see GnR trying to sue their fans for downloading like Metallica did...

  7. I know a great way to confirm the release date ---->Get one of these GnR fan sites to post an article claiming that they have uncovered the release date of the cd from a source inside the record label and then...if it is true, they will get contacted by GnR management to tell them to remove the article...confirming our suspicions. Fan sites...get on it.

  8. I think the crispness of the guitar doesn't translate as well live. When you listen to the demo you hear the breaks between the strumming of the guitars. Live, it all blends in. It's not worse, just different.

  9. I had heard it on 97.7 HTZ FM (radio station here near Toronto) and they said Axl was hoping to re-release it. I agree about the cost splitting with the old band, but as we know, Axl is always trying to take from his old pals including taking the band name for himself. He wanted the band to sign away some of their music rights too. I heard Axl didn't want to let the movie - BLACK HAWK DOWN - use WTTJ for its soundtrack (apparently that is the song that was really playing in the chopper when it went down - based on true events) unless they signed a rights agreement to Axl. They obviously never did, and therefore the song was never in the movie.

  10. Don't get me wrong, I would rather hear C.D. also, but judging by the 2 min at the end of SCOM on BigDaddy, I think they could do some cool stuff to it. Axl probably added high screams to parts where it was more low key and the drums were way cool too.

  11. Does anyone remember when the new GnR was supposed to re-release AFD with an updated sound? We hear it at the end of the live SCOM of the Big Daddy Soundtrack. Who else is dying to hear this? I am. I heard Slash and co. blocked the re-release? Anyone got any news on this?

  12. me too. back in 2002, I bought presale tickets online by using the password "buckethead" and got 5th row center at the London ON show. I went to a ticketmaster counter to pick up my tickets and just as soon as the guy printed them off...he got a phone call. It was someone at Ticketmaster head office telling him he shouldn't have printed them off yet or something like that, but he had already, so he gave them to me anyhow. I guess I was the first one to get GNR tickets for that show. That was the 6th time I saw them and it was great once again. I sat 3rd row once too in Hamilton.
