  1. The name issue is irrelevant.

Do you honestly 100% believe that Axl would sell exactly the same amount of tickets if he was to drop the Guns n' Roses name? Seriously?

Honestly, it's a new band, so a new band name seems appropriate. By staying with the same name, it is kind of like a sports franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers. I take it that if Axl dies, some new ownership group(Axl's lawyers? haha...or 'camp') could then obtain a new singer, and then it would still be 'Guns n' Roses', and hey...as long as Dizzy is still there, they have at least one member from the HOF GNR, do they not? So how could it not be legit?

Axl is pretty bad at letting go. He seems like a strong guy, but forge onwards. The guys in Pantera did. New bands formed with new names. Like one of the Pantera guys said after Dimebag was killed, (not exact quote)"fans need to understand musicians have been in bands before one of them gets to be famous and has a hey-day. We will also be in bands afterwards, perhaps less-known, once that hey-day is done. Just because there is a lot more commercial success with one, doesn't mean every member of the band has to stay in the band the rest of their life."

My two cents think maybe Axl should let GNR be who it was, and at least let the new guys be honored as the rockin' band 'Lana Del Rey's Wife', or whatever they would like. And yes, I do think said band would sell the same amount of tickets, as everyone would know that the tunes they would be hearing would be the same as now, with eventually new tunes.

....and maybe one day in the distant future, Axl and this 'new' band of guys would get inducted to the HOF in a way where they weren't associated with GNR, as that doesn't seem to be what he wants. haha...maybe the HOF will decide after some time, that yes, Bumblefoot has now been in the band, and played well enough that he can be inducted under the GNR banner too, as well as Tommy. Really? C'mon. Give the new rebel rousers their own identity. No one will ever forget the first and most relevant years of GNR. Everything else under that name is a footnote. Strike out creating your own book of adventure, lads.

  2. I would think during the Olympic Games would make perfect sense. Yeah, yeah, I know, a sporting event. The Olympics are bigger than that. The focus of every country in the world will be focused on China and the country will be swamped with vistors from many countries in the globe seeing into the all the dark corners and bright stages that China has to offer...a perfect stage and time for...something to start...I think...? Or maybe it will just be delayed...until only Xmas? :xmasssanta:

  3. I hit the show in Portland last night, and Axl's voice was as blown as anything I've ever heard. It was painful to listen too...really. Horrible. Not trying to dis, it is just how it was. Nobody I know thought it sounded good...not one. He soldiered on nonetheless instead of ending the show and numerous times went back for tea and honey or whatever I imagine. He was a sick and did some cancellations a week or so ago, and I think the couple shows he did before Portland destroyed/inflamed his throat and vox again.

There is no big conspiracy from the record company. The Rose Garden in Portland has capaciy of 19,000 for the Blazers, so with floor space it would be 20,000. I would say maybe 7,000 people were there and he still sang/screamed/howled his way through the performance instead of cancelling due to poor ticket sales. He probably just have very little voice left making singing a very tough thing to do and is hoping to have it back by the end of the week.

It's no secret Axl blows his voice out a lot...look at what he sings. Take it for what it is. He isn't trying to offend anyone, but it is all he can give and do sometimes, so don't slag the man down for it, and don't read into it more than what it is.

  4. I agree with Portland GNR about the opening acts...if you are going to have 3 opening bands...and Bach played over an hour...start the show at 7 at least. Not 8. Most people have to get up around 7am on weekdays and it is hard not to be draggin ass when you have been partying for 3 hours and then GNR goes on at 15 minutes til midnight.

The crowd was kind of lame, but then again, they responded pretty well to Bach and it wasn't 1am. Watching GNR do there thing and interact twice with the audience over 2.5 hours felt like watching TV and wasn't too exciting either.

  5. Granted, I had a little bit of a great buzz going on, Axl's voice sounded like a train wreck, and reverb was still coming down, but last night it sounded like he said something more like 'And now I'm suppose to tell you that is from our forthcoming album'. It seems to make more sense too. Basically, Axl is trying to say the record company is trying to push him to promote the album/single, but he doesn't like to promote stuff that way, and it was his slight dig at the record company and mention of the album at the same time.

IMO, Sebastian Bach rocked the house for having an opening band sound system. If you have seen the show yet, try to get a lighter in for it. Bach was also great last night interacting with the crowd. After one girl flashed the audience he got a lot more girls to join in on it, got the spotlights working them, and after a few minutes of exposure and banter, finally said something like 'well, I know we would all love to look at these fucking great tits all night, but the show must go on'. Bach could reign supreme in rock n' roll again if he could channel his pipes to a proper melody and notes instead of jumping to his 'balls to the wall' wail he loves so much. That being said, he rocked it.

Helmet was also pretty good, but suffered from the opening band sound system curse as well, and sometimes, unless you are a diehard fan, it churns along at the same type of song again and again.

  6. Maybe they play 3 shows since the album will be out...or because of the high demand for ticket sales in Cali, and they want to play more shows for the fans like they do in NY and other big cities. And maybe because it is also close to home for some of them and they can rest at home those 4 or 5 nights of the show instead of some other hotel or bus. Who knows...it will be out when it is out. Life will still be good, bad, or how it is for you once it comes out.

  7. Stop trying to give advice to Axl...you know hardly anything about his day and obligations and he isnt' giving you advice on how to live your life. Don't be his mother.

...and FYI, I think it's safe to say each of all the other GNR albums out there have sold over 6,000 this year on there own.

  8. Don't put your hopes in a rock n' roll band. Life is too damn short. Especially GNR.

Axl doesn't care about anyone but himself and his inner circle too much because he can't. He can't please everyone, and neither can you. Please yourselves and those around you, that's what is important. He can't please everyone, and I often think he doesn't care about most. Otherwise they would have found a way to at least perform in Maine for those fans. They were there for GNR...not fire and explosions. Give the people a scaled down show and then explain you wanted to give them more but couldn't.

Anyway, life goes on. Buy a motorcycle or something. Go listen to Slash play 'Obsession Confession' and realize no one can break your spirit but you. Everything will come to pass in time.

  9. Motley vs. GNR....the motherfucking saga continues...

Never seen GNR live....they don't seem to tour a whole lot, and the chance I had to see them it was iced. I have no bones on them for that though. Motley Crue is killer live, and perhaps GNR could be...

I think they are both different musically, and some music does it for some of us, and doesn't for others. Motley is more straight up, party-your-ass off, let's get loaded and have a good time music. GNR can be that way, but also can deliver a lot of teen angst and introspection on love etc. Sometimes you just don't want that....other times maybe you do. Motley doesn't seem to be going for the introspective, angst, relflective music.

Talent-wise...hey, when Axl has 'hired' some of the best of who's around...of course GNR may have more talent, although it may not transfer to soul in the music. Time will tell. The old GNR were as much cocaine and whiskey as the Crue I think. More about party rock n' roll, 'we're young famous and want to party til we drop'. We can see some of that straight ahead rock style on VR's album...the slower stuff I think is more from Weiland. Axl wanted to go down a different road and has.

    Any-fucking-ways....it's all bitching tunes....let's rock! rock1

  10. GNR will probably perform at the end of the show from the top of a building where they can setup without prying eyes of the audience. Plus, they have already pulled the surprise performance in front of the audience before. They would probably rather be more original instead of redo the same thing yet again.

  11. The new songs are too absorbing to be much fun or enjoying for most people. They are fine for just sitting there listening to them, but they wouldn't be good for a party atmosphere. People would rather listen to Paradise City, Sweet Child, or It's So Easy. That stuff had some soul and life to it, not so cold, technical, and absorbing. That being said, the new stuff is pretty good, especially from a story-telling standpoint, composing, and musician-ship, but it isn't so 'feel good' which is the type of music people like most. You can't shout along with the same balls out, let's party our asses off gusto.

  12. This Yellowbelly guy doesn't seem to know much about anything. Loads of guys did a lot more drugs than Axl and Axl seemed pretty hung up on two chicks for quite some time. He may have dated a few models until they decided they didn't want to put up with his shit(or vice versa), and making your whole band leave you means you are proably either a wasted drug addict(not Axl) or an asshole.

Axl seems more of a composer than a rock n' roller these days anyway. He isn't exactly 19-27 anymore...he's way past that. I bet Vince Neil's pet dog partied harder than Axl and for longer.

  13. The dude has only been in the band for maybe a month now, so give him some time to learn a bit more. haha...it would be hard to learn the GNR catalogue in that amount of time. rock3

  14. "one eyewitness reported".......out of how many eye witnesses? C'mon people. It seems like it could really be possible, but it also could be a complete fabrication. One person. Maybe that one person missed a whopper of a sneeze on the part of Izzy that left his eyes a bit misty or something. I'm not trying to be a hater, but because something is totally possible doesn't mean it happened.

As for Izzy showing up to rock it.....now that kicks some serious ass rock1

  15. Does it seem possible Axl had fun while he wasn't in the public eye in California? Most people that have a brain have a good time no matter where they go and who they decide to spend their time with, it isn't always about location. You can find assholes anywhere or you can find cool people anywhere.

  16. The music industry is a whole new ballpark from what it was when GNR came out. There are many more avenues for finding new music than there used to be.....1987 there was Option 1, our local radio station...Option 2, MTV. That was pretty much it. Now with the internet you can find whatever you like...not just what you are exposed to and like the most. Sure GNR will be friggin' huge on the comeback tour, but those music fans that don't like rock still won't except maybe a song or two. I don't know about rock being 'dead' or anything like that...maybe just more diverse. Although there are a lot of young bands out there on MTV, there are a lot of other good bands out there like Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who are putting out music in just the next montha alone, so it isn't like everyone is complaining about not having any good music on their plate...and it isn't like all rock out there is 'packaged rock', just some of it. Sure, nothing fulfills the GNF Fix, like new GNR, but it is kind of like the 'Hootie and the Blowfish' syndrome. The first time everyone heard them, they loved them for the new sound and they sold like 12 million copies. The next album was them again, but their sound was already out there with people and not so many people bought it since they had already gotten their 'fix' for their sound.

In regards to the tour, Axl is with a lot of older established musicians, and I don't think they are going to let him try to start concerts 2 hours late every night, or on his own timeframe. They are there to rock, and when all 5 or 15 of them are there waiting to do it, they aren't going to appreciate someone continuously holding them up....but who knows. People change and no one knows Axl since he never says or does much...everyone just speculates until they have an idea of him they like in their own mind and then run with it so they can be happy.

    Sweet dreams, I'm out.

  17. :question::question::question:

Does anyone really know what this stuff means, or are you all jumping to conclusions just to speculate about how pathetic someone must be and what it is Slash ALLEGEDLY said? ***Keep in mind people, this is a 'counterclaim'. It appears that Axl is trying to make Slash drop one of his lawsuits in which he hasn't been getting the recognition he claims he deserves as Axl has seemingly taken it away. Slash wouldn't be so pathetic to say this stuff about his friends, and even if he was, it is weak that Axl would bring it to the surface....but I think it's a bunch of garbage.

"'Duff was spineless,'" .....at what? Dealing with an ex? Attempting to cook lasagna? Putting up with Axl's shit for 20 years?...that would be a choice he made because he didn't want to deal with shit anymore. Again, it's all speculation and no real factual evidence of anything specific.

"'Scott [Weiland] was a fraud,'" .......fraud of what? In general? Who knows? Let's say everything since there is nothing to go off...

"that he 'hates Matt Sorum'" ..........seems to me it would be hard to hate someone you knew well, then get together and mutually decide to be in another band with them. Maybe he just HATES the way Matt's feet smell after a gig and they have been sweating in shoes for 2 hours. The statement, like all the others is pretty general.

"and that in this ongoing war, contest or whatever anyone wants to call it that Slash has waged against Axl for the better part of 20 years, that Axl has proven himself 'the stronger.'"

....Slash has been waging a war? On Iraq, Vietnam, ...oh, Axl? I seem to think the media and fans had one in their heads about who would 'make the better music(everyone has different taste)'. I know I certainly was curious ......maybe I am starting to forget things in my old age, but I don't recall Slash 'waging a war'. Plenty of times he said it wasn't exactly 'easy'(in a word) working with Axl, but this lawsuit is crap.

In the lawsuit it states "More surprising to Axl are recent media reports that Slash (Saul Hudson) is claiming that he has always been supportive of Axl Rose and the new GUNS N' ROSES."

    >>Has Slash ever bagged on the band? He has said working with Axl wasn't cake, but that is about it. He hasn't been hoping for a failure or saying that the new GNR sucked and he hoped they would all make a crap album. If you think about it, Slash never really is negative or whines about bad stuff in the least. Does anyone think he would really do it to Axl at 5.30AM?

It also states "It would have been Axl's preference to resolve disputes with Slash and Duff in private."

    >>As we all know, Axl hasn't met a courtroom he didn't like. And from what it sounds like, he hasn't tried to get in touch with Slash or Duff too often.

Hate to say it, but Axl, 'Man up' and understand that the old GNR wasn't just you. Deal with that stuff like a man. It involved the other guys too...they formed a good part of the legacy as well, and whether or not you think they are clowns or not, you can't erase history. Let it be. The original GNR history is already written. You can add Chapter 2, or you can leave the GNR legacy as it was and help create another bands legacy. You and the other band have got the power and the tunes to create a new history starting TODAY, so why don't you do it? Change the name of the band.....it's a healthy start and with a clean break you will be free to make the new one as you and the other members see fit.

  18. All I have to say is after seeing Motley Crue rock it this summer, GNR better be in fine form or they will be shown up by the Crue.....probably not on purpose. The Crue just kick ass in concert and are what rock n' roll is about...good, bad ass party music. They aren't trying to make 9 minute epics. Sure, they aren't the best musicians, but they know it and it isn't like GNR is the best either in that aspect. Heck, GNR overall is composed of about 10-15 guys over its lifespan, so they better have more diversity than the 5 guys that have been involved with the Crue.

There is no point bitching about what you don't know about if you haven't seen either, or were too young to not experience a Crue or GNR show...it changes nothing and you look like an idiot. No need to try to justify Guns all the time...what is it you are trying to make them the best of anyway? Just your mind? They won't get any awards or be any cooler. Open your minds and enjoy it all.

Should be one rocking concert. rock1
