  1. Manchester gig last night was great. I was pretty far back this time, normally I go right up to the front barrier but I couldn't be arsed with all the pushing and shoving this time around. It was nice to come out dry, having not been drenched in sweat or piss for once. I found the sound much better from further back as well. Couldn't wait around to meet Slash again either as we had to catch the last train. Had a great time though. :)

  2. Let's be honest, nobody is really going to the shows to see Ron or any of the other guys... people are going to see Axl and Axl alone. 75% of the people in attendance to the shows probably haven't even heard Chinese Democracy let alone know any of the current musicians Axl has employed. I'm sure nobody would bat an eyelid if Ron were to sit the shows out, if they even noticed at all.

I'm not trying to be anti-Ron because I actually do really like him. I just think it would be a poor excuse to cancel a few shows or indeed an entire tour because he's not well. It's not as if the songs can't be played with just 2 guitarists.

But that's my opinion on it anyway, like it or not.

  3. The band that played last night was Guns N' Roses featuring Myles Kennedy. It's more GN'R than Axl's current band. For one night only we got more authentic GN'R back on stage than we've seen in a long time. I for one am made up at the performances. They sounded tight, and Myles did an excellent job on vocals. Way to go boys, hope you all had a blast.

For one night only, we had Guns N' Roses. Let's celebrate, not argue.

  4. The one thing Axl would have gotten from me if he'd shown up would have been utmost respect. I knew there was no chance for him to sit with or even play with Slash, Duff, Izzy n' Steven, but I thought he might have at least have attended the ceremony and acknowledged the accolade.

But instead he refuses to recognise the era that made him what he is today. Disappointment is the only word I can use to describe it at the moment.

  5. His '92 voice was powerful as fuck. Listen to Paradise City from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert and compare it to one from the recent shows; no contest.

Axl's grit vocals are what made him stand out from other singers back in the day. Sure they weren't always spot on, to be honest I find SCO'M on the UYI dvd's hard to listen to. But I'd prefer that than his mickey mouse helium voice.

Don't get me wrong, he's come on leaps and bounds from RIR3 - now that was painful. But I just sometimes find his vocals now to be disappointing.

Having said that, the best I've heard him sound in recent years was 2010 when Duff joined him for a rendition of Nice Boys. Now that was outstanding, was like listening to 80's/90's Axl.

  6. As I'm now going to the Liverpool show, I'll be missing out the Manchester date this time around. It's a pain in the arse getting home because as we know Axl never comes out before 22:30, meaning I miss the last train back. I've driven the last few times I've been, which was also a pain because I couldn't drink. So Liverpool is a win/win for me because I won't have to drive, wont have to worry about trains and can have a few drinks too. :)
