  1. The next couple of days will decide the entire future of GNR. Will they continue to cancel? Or will the tour continue? We shall know very soon. Let's just hope they fight through the low ticket sales and announce a release date soon.

  2. This is fact and dont opinions.

The 2002 sold better then this tour! We cant blame promoters..what can they do?

i think the reason is simple, GNR isnt a interesting band in the US anymore. People who go to show is tired of all the solos and jams. they want to see axl not the guitar wanking crap.

GNR made their "comebeck" in 02, beck then it was almost 10 years since their last tour. No its a new comebeck wich dont create the same interest. at the same time : how can people identify with a band who comes up with a bunch of new faces everytime??

Those reason is a result of stupid choices made by Axl Rose himself. It cant be to good for Axl and see that he dont "sale"anymore. Hes only hope is to put out a record to fill the arenas. Personly i think the new material will be to fare away from old GNR that most fans will turn their beck to him and GNR!

If that's how you feel, then why are you bothering to waste your time posting on this site?

  3. I saw the crowd empty by at least half at Inland Invasion.

I started out in row 15 area at Vegas. Towards the end of the set, I was at row 3.

I don't know how that is possible, there were no "rows" in Vegas!

As for this topic, I have been to a couple of shows, and I think it is going pretty well thus far. At $75 a ticket, you don't have to sell very many to make money. And the venues are pretty full. Vegas was sold out on Sat night, near sell out on Sunday. Inland Invasion was packed. The south Fl show was full, Tampa nearly a sell out. Jacksonville was the lowest, but still approx 70% full. MSG will be sold out. pollstar has the tour as one of the best!

    What's the problem?

  4. It seems like Axl said a couple of months ago that they would start working more and more of the new songs into the setlist, as the tour proceeds. I kind of think that you might see TWAT get thrown back into the fray at some point--possibly at MSG.

But more importantly than that, what we really need is a solid release date for CD. And maybe work a song from UYI in there at some of the shows.

Patience is one of my favorite GNR songs, but I think it and maybe should go. I'd leave the guitar solos in however. People may be wondering about them now. But this is the best way for the new guys to show of their talents. And as much as I love Slash, nobody with an open-mind can leave the arena thinking Slash is a better guitarist than Bumblefoot.

  5. The lowest attendend concert thus far was in Jacksonville. Here's a big reason why

    1. It was a rescheduled show

    2. It was on a Tuesday night

    3. It was on Halloween night

    4. People are reading that the show is starting very late, therefore weeknight concerts are difficult to attend.

    5. Jacksonville is not a highly populated city, like Miami, or Ny, etc.

I was at the show the other night, and I'd say it was half full. I'm not sure how many people can be on the floor. But there was a great deal of floor space remaining. And the seats were probably 70% full. The crowd enjoyed the show for the most part. Unlike in Vegas, however, they were not familiar with Better or the Blues. And they became restless during the solos, except for Bumblefoot's. During Robin's solo, some in the crowd started chanting Slash, Slash.

They are just going to have to overcome those things for now. I can see Axl working this, and the negative media reports to his advantage.

I am not that concerned about the tour being cancelled. My belief is that once the album comes out, and people get familiar with the new band members, things will pick up. Let's just hope the album hits soon. And that is becomes a huge sucess.

  6. As far as I am concerned, we only know of 5 songs that will be on this album. And I don't include "Sorry" because RS has often printed things that don't come to pass. Anybody remember the story about how Lies would no longer have One in a Mllion on it? That was 5+ years ago, and it is still there!

    1. IRS

    2. Better

    3. There Was a Time

    4. The Blues

    5. Maddy

  7. I believe that we have heard some of the best material that will be on the album. That being said. We also heard November Rain, Civil War, etc before the UYI albums hit the shelves. And while those songs sounded great live, we were still blown away when we actually heard the finished studio product.

I fully expect the same this time around.

Oh, and to the person who said that Better is not a great song. I have played the demo for quite a few folks. Some of them big GNR fans, others not so much. And the response has been very solid. Plus, I am a pretty harsh critic. And I think the song is awesome. If some band I had never heard of before created this song, and I were to hear it on the radio, I'd be blown away. No doubt. Plus, if you trust my theory that these songs will be even more impressive on the album, then there is no telling how good it could be!

  8. Just though I'd pass this along, since Axl introduced them at the VMAs.

The Killers 'offended' by Green Day

Brandon Flowers doesn't want to be an 'American Idiot'

Brandon Flowers has criticised Green Day for what he sees as their calculated anti-Americanism.

In particular, Flowers singled out the track 'American Idiot' and the fact they filmed their DVD 'Bullet In A Bible', which features the song, in the UK.

"You have Green Day and 'American Idiot'. Where do they film their DVD? In England," The Killers' frontman told The Word. "A bunch of kids screaming 'I don't want to be an American idiot' I saw it as a very negative thing towards Americans. It really lit a fire in me."

Explaining he was offended by the set-up, Flowers added: "You have the right to say what you want to say and what you want to write about, and I'm sure they meant it in the same way that Bruce Springsteen meant 'Born In The USA' and it was taken wrongly, but I was really offended when I saw them do that."

The singer added he felt the DVD was a bit of a a stunt.

"I just thought it was really cheap," he explained. "To go to a place like England or Germany and sing that song - those kids aren't taking it the same way that he meant it. And he [billie Joe Armstrong] knew it."

The Killers' frontman said he believed that his band's new album 'Sam's Town' is a much better representation of America.

"People need to see that, really, there are the nicest people in the world here!" he declared. "I don't know if our album makes you realise that. But I hope it's from a more positive place."

  9. Alright, so now that we hear there will be a song called "sorry," I am just trying to keep track of what may be on the album. Didn't we hear that there will be 13 tracks?

Someone else posted this order--not trying to take credit for that.

    1.Chinese democracy

    2.The Blues

    3.Madagascar

    4.Better

    5.IRS

    6.Catcher in the rye

    7.There Was A Time

    8.Sorry

    9.TBA

    10.TBA

    11.TBA

    12TBA

    13.TBA

Ok, so this leaves us with only 5 more slots possibly. I assume that the song This I Love will be on the album. And what about Oklahoma? Silkworms? What else?

  10. I agree, we do need to be braced for a let down. It happened when End of Days came out. It happened again in 2002. And now the beginning of the tour is already getting pushed around. I don't understand it.

Hopefully, they are just taking longer to finish the album than that thought, and they just want to make sure they finish it before they go on tour. If that is the case, we should hear an announcement soon saying as much.

But it is very possible that this whole thing is once again going to fall apart. I hope not. And I do still believe we will get the album and tour this year. But we have to be prepared for nothing again.

  11. I watch Idol, because it is a fun show. But I won't be buying Chris' album.

Anyway, my main point though is this. The BEST week to release the album is the 21st. Get it out before the big Thanksgiving shopping days. There will be a lot of competition the rest of the year, no matter what. You have the PS3, X box 360, several major albums, etc.

  12. Man, I am really glad I made it to the Vegas shows. That may have been my only chance to see these guys. One has to think that things will turn around soon. My hopes of this thing ever happening were crushed after the 02 mess. It can't happen again can it?

  13. Very poor planning. This is Georgia vs Florida weekend. Nobody will be thinking about this show on Oct 31! And I have tickets. But now I may not go. Unreal. Really.

Actually I was wrong. The show is on a Tuesday night? What the crap is that? Jacksonville is not a huge city and they are counting on people from the rural towns nearby to come to the shows. People can't make the 2 hour drive on a freakin' weekday. This is just stupid.

  14. Could be a case of brilliant marketing. The MLB playoffs are about to begin. Waht better place to advertise than during the commercial breaks of those games?

I have had my hopes up, way up, several times before. End of Days, 2002, etc. But I really believe it may finally happen this time.

And the good news is, the new band is awesome. The 02 version was not on par with this version. Axl sounds better. And Bumble will be more presentable than Buckethead--while both are excellent guitar players.

Anyway, this news sounds very promising. We shall see what comes of it.

  15. I've only been to one show on this tour--Las Vegas Sat show. And I can tell you that at it, the crowd knew every word to every song, including The Blues. It was amazing to hear people singing along to songs that one can only know from downloading the bootleg!

  16. Muse have completely stolen the show..

    -Kickingthehabit

They were always going to. I really don't know that GN'R will match the performance. They've got the songs to do it, but i'm not so sure they'll nail it quite as comprehensively.

this is good stuff. But it's still no GNR. Axl didn't become the greatest front man ever by letting the opening act out do him.
