  1. It doesn't look like any official word on Fortus is coming down the pike, so maybe they can just cut and paste from Axl's 2002 Chinese Democracy press release. It almost sounds like it could have been written in 2016.

"We’re fortunate to have found Richard who has this vibe kind of like Izzy but with amazing feel. The first thing I heard Richard play was the beginning of 'Stray Cat Blues' by the Stones and he did it with the right feel. Richard likes to play rhythm. He’s an amazing lead player and very technically skilled...basically, Richard’s the guy that we always were looking for. I think that we’ll go on to write some very interesting things with Richard and he’s already done some rhythm work and some leads on the album.”

  2. Correct, looks like footage will be shown tomorrow on The BBC.

The BBC have a history of fucking up though. They promised footage of Eminem at T in the Park the night he played. Turned out they never had permission to being with.

Took them days to come through with the rights.

Let's hope everythings cool with Axl and management

I posted this in another thread, but I found this on the bbc website. Good news for our UK friends!:

  4. i am eagerly anticipating the follow-up diatribe which will probably read something like this:

"Ya see...there are some "individuals" out there who thought that it would be a good idea to announce a bunch of concerts without informing the band first. Well let me tell you that despite what these individuals and certain members of the press might have you believe, neither myself, nor the band, nor our management have ever been informed of these concerts nor have any of us ever undertaken any contractual obligation to perform these concerts or intimated in any way that such concerts would be taking place."

  5. No big deal, but I recently noticed some striking similarities between the husker du track "don't want to know if you are lonely" and the fabled gnr track "crash diet." Really noticeable (at least to me) when axl sings the verses in the faster tempo following the solo. Check it out. Two great songs, even if nothing more!

Husker Du - Don't Want to Know if You are Lonely

    GNR -Crash Diet

  6. While I don't think the song is about Slash, or anything related to that, when I first heard the song back in 2006 I got the sense that the lyrics were metaphorically speaking about the old GNR and perhaps slash specifically. Not in a sexual way, but in the sense that Axl felt that he had given his all to the band. In the lyrics, he felt like a scorned lover who's sense of devotion to the band was trampled while Slash and co., who at the time were "sleeping in another woman's bed" by doing Velvet Revolver(and various other projects) and screwing around with all the sleazy agents and hangers-on that Axl hated. How they all consorted with lawyers who twisted facts and found ways around the laws. Yet sometimes he looks back, reminisces, and considers reconnecting, but at this point it would be useless because now, things have become so ugly, that he doesn't even want to know the other side of the story . (Hey, there was a long time to think about the few songs that were out there in the 7 years prior to CD being released!)

  7. No beer?

    Thats just sad.

I'm sure people are going inside with their bottles anyway, overpriced beer sucks. In Canada I got to drink vodka and whisky between the Bach and GNR wait from people who got in with bottles.

Uh oh, no beer. That was the reason axl canceled the portland, me show in 2006. Right? THAT was the reason. Surely, THAT was the reason.

  8. Just happened to be listening to Billy Joel's 1971 debut album "Cold Spring Harbor" this morning and I could not help but notice some strong similarities between the early singing and songwriting stylings of Billy Joel and the later work of W. Axl Rose. I was especially taken by the track "Tomorrow is Today." We all know the affinity Axl had for Elton John's work, but take a listen to the lyrics of this track and specifically the vocal style of the song at the 2:25 mark. Definitely reminiscent of Axl's patented nasally vocals on a few of the ballads. Anyways, no big deal but kind of cool. If nothing else, you'll get to hear a great song you have maybe never heard before. Have a good day!

  9. I came across this cool little series of word clouds that LA Weekly has been posting of the quintessential "LA Albums." This week they used all of the lyrics from Appetite for Destruction. The program that they use takes a block of text and sizes each word based on its frequency in the block. Anyways, nothing major, but I didn't see it posted on here and I thought it was cool. Thanks. 10. "He's singing on stage, much like the eel, it is rock, but the body is very soft..."

LOL, that's hilarious. Has Axl gained weight again?

Accidentally deleted, here's the link with the funny translation again.

I think in the context of the article the quote is supposed to be referring to the gnr ballads like November Rain, but when I first read that line I literally laughed out loud.

  11. Billboard is the official site for music industry info like the billboard album/singles charts.....if they say its coming out on the 23rd, their sources are reliable, and most likely could even be from Azoff......this isnt some silly bullshit rumor or vague "2005 is the year of GNR"....now stuff could go down and it doesnt happen....but dont discount Billboard as if its some music fans blog....they are a highly reputible site..

Yes they are very accurate with release dates. Especially with GNR stuff. This was a great dvd huh?
